Bro…thank you so much! I completely blew my budget on a new Jon boat and forgot to get a dolly. This will do exactly what I need for the little bucks in the wallet 😂
Wow I was looking at all the crappy ones on Amazon that would only kind of fit at best and this solution is worlds better for what I'd need it for, thanks for sharing!
Yo you just made my day I was looking for a way to do this all I did was ask Google any DIY ways to put wheels on my Jon boat I came up on your video dude unbelievable no practical Temple gets the job done I'm doing it next weekend on my boat maybe I'll make a video and send it tu ya😮😂😂😂😅
So glad I saw your video! I had been brainstorming for a solution that didn't break the bank or require drilling holes and mounting something to the boat permanently, and this is the ultimate answer. I will be making one for my 12 foot jon boat this weekend. 👍
@@Sk8Riffer - I made it today. I liked it so well I'm gonna make another for the front of the boat tomorrow, and use the 10 inch pneumatic swivel casters so I can steer it. My boat is the same width as yours, only 12 foot long instead of 10, and with a 1/4" plywood floor covered in camouflage foam. I also have a 6hp 4-stroke outboard, a 3-gallon tank, a 30lb thrust trolling motor, a lightweight LiFePO4 battery, and either one or two clamp-on swivel seats, depending on whether or not Wifey or a friend tags along. The boat loaded with everything weighs approximately 275 pounds, but it is rare that I end up taking everything along. Most trips don't require the heavy outboard and fuel tank. If I am interpreting the specs correctly, every wheel is rated for 300 pounds, so four wheels = 1200lbs, meaning I should be good even if I do bring everything, at least on fairly smooth ground and if I am careful to distribute the weight evenly for the trip to the water. If it doesn't work out, I know my old self can at least manage the 125lb empty boat better, or maybe even the boat and just the 52lb outboard motor. Everything else is easy enough to carry, even if I must make several trips. Anyway, thanks again, and wish me luck!
I made the front ones. It all works great. I can push the boat along very easily, even for long distances over less than perfect terrain, even with everything in it. The only issue is that putting them under the boat is a two person job, because they fall over if someone isn't holding them in the upright position till the boat's weight comes down on them, and one person just can't pull it off. No big deal. Probably gonna just build "kickstands" from short pieces of bent all-thread rod and attach them to the boards with a couple of U-nails so they can flip up and down as needed. once the boat is on them it is very easy to strap them on.
@@FreedomFishing so I use it just to get down to the water. My local isn’t really a proper launch, it’s more rocks and mud. I’ll usually take it off right at the water and push the boat it. It’s on muck so it doesn’t do much damage to the bottom of the boat. If you scroll through my latest vids, I did a ton of upgrades to the Jon boat including hurculiner on the bottom, so that also helps protect the boat
Man, what an awesome idea. Gonna build one this weekend, really gonna help when going fishing with the kids, at least until they are old enough to lift the other end haha! Thanks for sharing man.
@@Sk8Riffer Really gonna help me with the 14' boat haha! Wish harbor freight sold those casters with a solid tire, just be one less thing to worry about but I guess you can't really complain for the price.
@@danpies8861 no, but if the boat has too much weight the eyelets can sometimes split the wood. I rebuilt mine with supports, I’ll be doing another video on it this spring
That's a cool idea! I was looking for jon boat dolly ideas where you don't have to drill holes in your boat. Not only does this fit that bill but it'd half the price at least of a regular dolly
Genius my man. Pure genius
I try

I tried it and my eye lid screws came out lol 😂
@@Spinn1ng_Gorilla I've been using mine for weeks and hasn't yet given out even over some rough terrain, just need better screws 😉
just what i needed! thanks
Holy crap! Why haven't I thought of this! I've been moving the boat the hard way all this time. Thanks!
Nice!. Thank you. Gonna build mine this weekend for my 12' Jonboat. My back thanks you too!
Dude! Thank you! Amazing job!
You're the man stan!! Thanks
100000000% PERFECT. THank You
Great idea because I have a truck launch jon boat that we have to carry to the water when we go out.👍👍👍
Perfect! This thing has worked amazing so far

@@ralphcantrell3214 yeah that can be an issue if the boat is big. Mine works fine for just one person luckily
It a good idea i ever looking for. Thank you
I love it. So simple! Thanks!!
NICE JOB! That was supper helpful. thanks
Glad it helped 👌
Really nice and easy as well. Thank you
Wow thanks! So simple! And SMALL!
Was not aware of the existence of castor wheels that large. 🤷♀ TOTALLY will be using your idea for my sailboat dolly ... many thanks!!
Cool! It really has been a huge help
Nice design! Thanks!
Have fun!
definitely gotta do this now, heck yeah thanks for the awesome vid
Hell yeah, I’m making one this week. Way better than Amazon bs.
buy a jon boat soon but was worried about moving it around. This will be awesome
Good luck!
Best idea out there man! 🤙
Just used mine yesterday 💪
@@Sk8Riffer Heck yeah! I'm gonna go run it as well! Do you launch the boat, then spin the rear to shore, and then unstrap it?

Do you think 8 inch wheels would be fine ?
put the wheels near the centre of mass of the boat so you are not having to lift much. It will go round corners more easily too.
yep, beats cutting, drilling, and the time putting it together if you live on a lake. thankyou!
Not all of us are the lucky 😂
Thanks! Excellent Idea, I'll build one. Dave WRØX

Gonna do this with mine - I don’t see why I couldn’t just let them on while in the water - did you ever try this?
If you center the dolly it will be even easier.
I built mine 5 years ago still going but I am looking to make another.
You could also put it more in the middle of the boat so it disperses the weight better especially if you have the boat loaded down with gear!
@@Da93teg87 you could. I found personally it works best at the rear of the boat for maneuverability
Great build! Have you ever had the wood slip or kick out? Thanks for the video.

I'll use this on my 12 foot dingy just turn it upside down to get the flat surface. Unstrap it waters edge and tip it over 👌
Thank you bro
Building it soon, thank you I’ll let ya know how it goes, 😊
Great idea, Love it! (:
Great idea! Do you leave the wheels strapped on when going into the water? Or do you detach then?
Detach and leave it in the truck
wow good idea
Brilliant
Genius
saved me some cash
looks like the wheels would collapse dragging it over the beach
@@keepemwet yeah probably not the best for sand
