    The big difference between Stan and Peter is how they treat their daughters.
    Stan doesn't understand Hailey. He dislikes what she likes and argues with her constantly. In the episodes where he gets to understand her, they bond. Together, they make anti-gun songs, pick blueberries for peace, go on a strike, listen to stoner music, etc. When Stan steps into her world they can actually connect. They just don't agree, that's it. And even though he doesn't like her, he does show that he loves her on many, many occasions.
    Peter just hates Meg lmao

      I think the worst thing about Homer is how Marge has kicked him out or even walked out with the kids, but she always takes him back when he comes snivelling. I mean she almost had an affair and the guy she almost did it with? There wasn't actually anything wrong with him. When Bart gets older he's gonna work out that his mom and dad only married because Homer got Marge knocked up with Bart, and that's not going to make him feel any better about himself. And getting that done pretty much ruined Marge's future too.

    A few years ago I saw a comic strip that depicted Bart Simpson & Chris Griffin as grownups in a relationship. They’re in couples therapy, and Bobby Hill is their therapist.
    Bart talks about how his dad used to yell at him and strangle him, yet he was never violent or aggressive towards his sisters. He says this abuse caused him to act out more, which made his dad more angry, and the cycle continued.
    Chris talks about how everyone in his family bullied his sister, called her names, told her to shut up, and pushed her down the stairs for no reason. Then he says that he joined in with the abuse because he was scared that if he stood up for his sister, they’d abuse him too, and he’s carried that guilt into adulthood.
    It ends with Bobby calling Hank after the therapy session and telling him what a great dad he is.
    I haven’t watched your video yet, but the concept immediately made me think of that comic strip.

    Ozai is the worst, in my opinion, he didn't love or care for anyone but himself. He was physicaly, mentally and emotionally abusive towards Zuko, tried to kill him, pushed Azula until she broke mentally. Thank god for Iroh, otherwise Zuko would've ended up just like Azula or worse.

      I agree Ozai is extremely selfish Not to mention he did not have any sympathy for his brother when his Nephew died and Iroh was grieving his son's death which is probably why he is very careing towards his Nephew Sense Iroh knew That his younger brother was never going to show compassion infact in Lord Ozai's case He thinks love and compassion is a sign of weakness hence why He treated his Brother and children badly

    • @rayne4246
      @rayne4246 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think Azula was a daddy's girl to begin with, she was always so hateful towards her mom, even calling her weak and then bragging to Zuko when she was exiled, making him think she was dead. She didn't even see her as a mom, just someone that took care of her and her brother.
      But if you really wanna make Ozai a bad father, Azulon killed Roku and then wiped out the entire existence of the tribes that would have incarnated into, then Ozai sent his son on an impossible mission to find the ONE that survived after burning his face.
      AND NOT EVEN TELLING EITHER ZUKO OR AZULA THAT ROKU WAS THEIR GREAT GRANDFATHER??? Roku was their mom's grandfather but Azulon tried to erase him from their history, Ozai continued it. Iroh brought it all to light, a Zoku set off to fix it.

    Gabriel Agreste needs to be in this. After his wife dies, he emotionally distances himself from Adrien, forcing him to call him "Father" instead of "Dad". He also refused to let Adrien go to school up until the show started, and only gave in until Adrien signed himself up for school, and kept running away from the house to go. He also didn't let Adrien have any friends, outside of the spoiled and selfish daughter of his own long time friend, who's also a terrible parent.
    At 1st, he at least decides that he'll never Akumatize Adrien, but there are two alternate timelines where as soon as he finds out that his son is Chat Noir, he imediately gets excited about how he's going to traumatize him so he can Akumatize him. And even in the current timeline, he still tried in the 5th season after Adrien got his heart broken by Marinette. He also used the fact that Adrien was born with the help of magic to literally control him, and force him to do things against his will. And then when Adrien and Marinette actually do get together, both in the Chat Blanc timeline and the canon timeline, he does everything he can to split them up, for no other reason than her not being the girl HE chose. Even when Adrien begs and pleads with him to let them be together, he doesn't listen and moves him to another country to keep them apart.
    He even amended the wish he wanted to make on the Miraculous from simply "bring back his wife", which he knows will result in someone else being killed in her place, to "bring back his wife, heal himself and his assistant from their life threatening illnesses (both are his own fault), make Adrien love Kagami instead of Marinette, and make Adrien and Kagami the most beloved idols in the whole world". Mind you, he already knows that Adrien hates modeling, and hates being famous. Oh yeah, and his response to finding this out was to digitize Adrien and using the 3D model and voice samples to turn him into a virtual assistant used by the entire world. AI Adrien can be dressed up in various outfits, and made to say anything you want. Therefore making Adrien even more famous than he was before. He even took advantage of this himself, by making another version with Kagami, and using the two AI's to promote Adrien and Kagami as "the perfect couple". When called out for how miserable he was making Adrien, his responses were either "he needs to do this because he's an Agreste" or "he's actually very happy."
    So yeah, Gabriel Agreste is a trash parent.

    Of the dads listed in this video, I gotta give it to Ozai. Not only did he commit horrific war crimes against the other nations, but he also abused his wife and children in just as cruel of ways. And he did it all without a single hint of remorse. All he cares about is power and he will use anything or anyone, even his own children, to get it. Even his own father Azulon, who is guilty of vile crimes of his own, had empathy for Iroh when he lost Lu Ten in The Siege of Ba Sing Se. Clay’s an amazing realest depiction of a horribly abusive and selfish father and it’s never played up for laughs like in Family Guy. Early Cuyler on the other hand, is the comedic heart and soul of Squidbillies but everything he does is for his own ends. He doesn’t seem to love anyone and while a lot of the shit he does to everyone is really absurd and over the top, growing up in an extremely small, southern town, I saw a lot of Early Cuylers growing up and tbh they’re not very far off the mark. That show was very clearly made by people who knew the realities of those places. In thirteen seasons, I can’t think of a single nice word or thing that Early does for his son Rusty and by the end, Rusty leaves and Early is cut out and left alone, which he genuinely deserves, and he never reflects on how it was all his fault and pretty much destined to happen that way.

      In the circumstances Cartman didn't become how he is because of abuse, but because he lacked a stable discipline figure in his life. And his mom wasn't exactly sterling at picking boyfriends either, so Cartman never had a positive male role model either. Additionally, experiences with his mother will affect the quality of the women Cartman chooses for a partner as an adult.
      However it is strongly implied that he was born a sociopath.

    Frank Heffley is probably one of the most horrible fictional dads ever. He never supports Roderick's dream of being a drummer and turns it down on a regular basis, always makes sure Manny never gets in trouble even if it means punishing his other kids for no reason, and once even tried to send Greg to military school just because he doesn't like sports and the only reason why he wasn't sent there was because he accidentally humiliated himself at a party which stopped Frank from humiliating himself at the party and also, in the first book, it implies that he hits his kids.
    P.S. I know that Frank isn't a cartoon dad but he's been in animated movies before so he technically is.

    • @tedioussugar384
      @tedioussugar384 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Eh, I’d say Frank is more of a generic deadbeat than a legitimately poor parent.
      Yes, Frank hates the idea of Roderick being a drummer as a career, but so does everyone else except for Roderick. Despite what the fandom thinks of him, he’s a 17 year old loser who doesn’t pay attention in school and likes to intentionally get into trouble, while the rest of his bandmates are in their 30’s. Roderick might the best of the Heffley’s, but he still sucks compared to the rest of the world. And most people seem to agree his music is terrible.
      Yes, Frank doesn’t really give Manny any punishments for anything he does, but that’s because nobody does. It’s very clear Manny is a sociopathic little monster who has Susan wrapped around his little demonic claw… I mean thumb. Frank isn’t really the type to give his kids punishments anyways, Greg even mentions he just tends to throw whatever is in his hands at them, and the severity is therefore dictated by the item in question. It says a lot more about Greg’s lack of reaction than Franks method of discipline, considering we also know Greg is a narcissistic psychopath who has no problem manipulating people into getting what he wants. Sending him off to military school might have legitimately been a good thing.
      We also know that in the past Frank has tried to be nice to his boys, such as taking Greg to a baseball game and buying him a benchpress set, going out to eat with the boys instead of trying to cook meals which they are terrible at, and letting Roderick drive their car during the road trip.
      Frankly, Susan is far far worse. She shows complete favouritism towards Manny, the little piece of shit, such as coming all the way to his daycare just to slice his sandwich. She’s just as manipulative and scheming as Greg, she’s intentionally lied to her entire family about her terrible sisters coming to stay, she’s taken Greg to a vet instead of a proper doctor, she forces the boys into activities they don’t want to do, such as soccer, the swim team, the school play, etc. and she’s refused to listen to Greg regarding their maid intentionally being lazy and sleeping in his bed.

Back at home, the family starts falling apart because they have no one to abuse and try to go get Meg back. Meg meets up with them. She's had a makeover. Her friends are there to support her. She looks great and at her insistence, her friends back off while she confronts her family. Meg tells her family that she is never going back because she has finally begun confronting her trauma and loving herself for who she is. He leeches off other people's money and fame. Not the best lesson to teach your kids.
      You see, Homer seems to think that once you're a celeb, you just ARE famous. That you don't need skills or practice, that you don't have to worry about being in the public eye, that you don't need self-restraint.
      Because certainly Homer has never shown the slightest self-restraint or made any attempt to teach it to his kids. If you're talking about the 'future' stories, the vast majority show Bart is far more likely to grow up to be a weed-addicted layabout leeching off his sister. And I say that Lisa grows up to be successful DESPITE her father, not BECAUSE of him.

    For a representative of Japanese Animation, may I present *(spoilers for One Piece)* Vinsmoke Judge. Introduced in Wholecake Island Arc as Sanji's father, Judge has done the following to Sanji:
    Altered Sanji's body in an attempt to make Sanji into a unsympathetic war machine. (Sanji's mother, Sora, was able to stop that from happening though.)
    Verbally and physically abused his son.
    Allowed Sanji's brothers to verbally and physically abuse him.
    Killed Sanji's pet rat by dropping them out of a window, which happened right in front of Sanji.
    Told Sanji to never cook again.
    Locked up Sanji in a cage with his face covered up in an iron mask just so no one can see the "embarrassment" Sanji was.
    Faked Sanji's death in order to lock him up in said cage.
    When Sanji eventually escaped, Judge allowed him to leave on the condition that he would never call Judge his father and to deny any relationship with the Vinsmoke family.
    Manipulated the bounty system so Sanji could be brought to him in order to set up an arranged marriage with one of Big Mom's kids in order to combined their forces so he can re-conquer the North Blue. It should be noted that he chose Sanji because he views him as the most "worthless" member of the Vinsmoke Family.
    Threatened Sanji's adopted father figure and Sanji''s cooking hands.
    The last (and possibly only) words he ever says to Luffy, Sanji's captain, were questions relating to why Luffy would want Sanji. He asks this by calling Sanji "Germa's failure" and listing every possible insult he could think of.
    There's incompetent dads. There's brutal dads. There's selfish dads. And then there's Judge. He is a brutal, selfish, arrogant, narcissistic man who just wanted kids in order to further his own goals. And the worse part is, he KNOWS what he doing is for his own personal pride. He doesn't care who he has to hurt. His wife. His son. His next door neighbor's dog. If it will help him conquer the North Blue, Judge will do anything to accomplish that goal.

    @noneofyourbuisness1679 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Maybe I'm reading in to it too much, but I think there was some meaning behind Ozai's treatment of Zuko, especially after giving him his scar. He basically told Zuko that the only way to ever get his honor back and bring him back into his good graces - which was an absolute lie, of course - was to accomplish an impossible task.
    By that point in the series, the Avatar, Aang, hadn't been seen or heard of in nearly 100 years. Multiple generations went by with the only mention of this nigh mythical figure being little more than a legend or history lesson. You could easily forgive some for not believing the Avatar even existed, even in a world where people casually bend the four elements. And despite that, Ozai still sends Zuko on this mission. Why?
    Like I said, I might be reading too much into it, but he's basically telling Zuko that he never wants to see him again. Not only that, but he's mentally abused him into believing that he is a complete and absolute failure unworthy of his father's love or attention. He would rather have him live the rest of his days in depression and anger, believing that he is worthless and undeserving of his father's praises. Outright killing him wasn't good enough for him (yet), Ozai had to make sure that even on the opposite side of the world from him, that Zuko would never be outside of his influence and, if not that, that he would die because of his own perceived ineptitude - he might've succeeded to, if he hadn't made the mistake of allowing Uncle Iroh to keep watch over him.

    • @rootfish2671
      @rootfish2671 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Definitely Ozai ruled through fear and violence and his own family was no exception. Ozai saw his own son as weak, an embarrassment and shame to the family name so he essentially banished Zuko on an impossible quest. He was seen almost like a "bastard son" an illegitimate heir who can never be part of royal rule.

Like I know its a cartoon and i can laugh and like Cotton but that personality of his in real life is the most repulsive and cowardly thing i feel a man can be too scared to own up to his mistakes to cowardly to try to live life beyond a time thats long gone and too proud to take tokens of kindness from people they've wronged. Cotton is so longwinded when it comes to his service which should be a selfless thing yet is so vain and bombastic because deep down he uses that as the only honorable thing hes done in his life because other than that pinnacle of being a war hero he did nothing but dishonor nearly everything he did. From what’s been shown in the show about omni-man, I’d say he’s clearly far ahead, but with the comics out there it’s hard to say. At least family guy and the other shows have a huge cast of characters that are just as problematic as Peter, Stan and Homer, but with Invincible, Marks is just a normal high school kid. Then his idol, the man he wants to be and looks up to, spun on a dime and became this monster that would have easily murdered everyone he cared about, called his mom a pet, and beat him nearly to death while telling him how worthless he is seems worse than a predictable Peter doing something bad to Meg again for the thousandth time.

      Omni-Man is definitely up there, but it can at least be argued that with his upbringing, it makes sense why he would do the things he did. I'm not saying he is justified, but at least he has shown he loved Mark and Debbie.
      In the end, his love for his son allowed him to push aside the man he kept trying to be.
      I would say Ozai is probably worse since Omni-Man at the least stopped beating his son, if Ozai had his way, Zuko and Iroh would be dead without a hint of regret.

    The show tries to present Homer in a sympathetic light despite his abuse and neglect. the biggest excuse given is abe using the cycle of abuse. While abe was far far from perfect as the show goes on we learn that he was incredibly sacrificing. Mona was also shown to be far less apart of homer’s life then initially appeared putting more work onto abe. So once again while abe was far from perfect on his worse day he was a better father then homer.
    Exit Through the Kwik-E-Mart
    Homer locks bart in a cage because a present bart brought for marge accidentally ruined a present he brought and in the end bart apologizes to homer for not thinking of his feeling when he reacted negatively to this. Also going by marge’s logic above wasn’t it her fault I mean bart wouldn’t have brought her a rabbit if it wasn’t her birthday yet she never stop to think about barts feelings as he was locked in a cage.
    Homer is also abusive in ways abe never was in The Great Money Caper Homer abandons Bart at the wharf at night after his magic act only earns 60 cents. It’s played completely for laughs.
    Fat Man And Little Boy
    After bart starts a business selling shirts homer quits his job his ten year old some to support the entire family. Then we as the audience are supposed to feel sorry for him because he feels emasculated by this.
    I also like to point out that this money and the money in Barting Over is never seen or heard from again. This is also not the first or last time bart has supported the family. Marge and homer are pretty much white trash. They repeated steal from their child yet grip about how much of a financial burden he is.
    Bart is also repeated presented as the bad gut when he finds a male role model who treats him like a human being
    Dad Behavior
    Homer hires a handyman to take over father-son catch duties with Bart only to become jealous and start hanging out with Milhouse. Homer claims that he likes hanging out with Milhouse because he’s hurt over the fact that Bart keeps calling him by his name instead of dad. But for someone who repeatedly tells his son he’s an unloved accident, pawns him off on someone else at the quickest opportunity only to get jealous at seeing how happy his son is and start hanging out with another child as some kind of childish revenge just makes Homer come across as a petty jerkass.
    The Wreck of the Relationship
    I hate this episode homer and bart are sent on a trust-building and surprise surprise when bart is actually given positive reinforcement he thrives and even raises to the ranks of acting captain. Homer by contrast nearly gets everyone killed and refuses to listen to Bart. He reasoning being that why should he respect Bart as captain when the boy doesn't respect Homer's authority as his father. Basically equating something Bart worked legitimately hard to earn with something Homer just expects to be given to him no matter how he acts.
    Barthood
    The major problem with this episode is that it actually goes into this dynamic but still treats bart as the bad guy. Bart and lisa are continuously pit against each other (which is one of the more subtle but particularly odious forms of bad parenting/child abuse) marge is fully complacent in this even though homer is the more vocal. He bluntly 'admits' that he doesn't want anything to do with Bart to a therapist, and can't say one nice thing to his son that isn't backhanded. Lisa greatly benefits and takes advantage of this she pretends it doesn’t exist. This is the only future where bart doesn’t end up as a loser and he does it by cutting his family out of his life. There is this happy ending with bart making peace with Lisa and Homer in adulthood but with no indication of them having to earn it. it doesn’t help that E My Sports and Diary Queen aired after this.
    If anything the fact he tries to be a good father to lisa and Maggie (who he regularly forgets) shows just how much of an aweful person he is. He shows open contempt for bart yet will have an existential crisis and see everyone as lego’s when lisa grows away from him. then lets not forget Flander's Ladder and Barts Not Dead two consecutive episodes where homer intentionally puts barts life in danger and has no remorse for what he did. He even tries to financially exploit it the second time.
    My major beef with the simpsons is that unlike family guy the writers don’t acknowledge that the characters are asshole. This is why I compare bart more to timmy turner then meg griffon.

      @toushin1000 I always felt bad for Bart because it was apparent that he wasn’t really cared for by his family. Homer didn’t care and Marge always cared more for Lisa and Maggie. Bart always felt like the odd one out. Another example of Bart thriving even if it’s just for a short time was during the Simpsons Movie when they were back in Springfield when Bart was staying with Flanders. He always had a better relationship with Ned Flanders than with Homer. Flanders was a positive role model for Bart. Something he really needed. Flanders didn’t make Bart feel like a bad kid. He cared for Bart, not Homer nor Marge did. Lisa always used her position as favourite for her advantage and I always felt that it makes her look extremely arrogant (but that may be my bias because I really don’t like her)

      - Thats a good write up to be fair, Bart has actually shown he can be a canny over-achiever basically every time he gets support and his family ALWAYS drag him down.

      @@MadMalMan Even their treatment of lisa can be considered a sign that they are a bad parent. As shown in lisa’s sax they decided bart was a lost cause because dealing lisa was easier. When written right lisa is a tragic figure as the sheer amount of favoritism they give has made it so she’s unable to function normally she expects everyone to treat her like they do so doesn’t have any friends and goes into suicidal depression at even the thought of someone being better than her. they go out of their way to destroy any potential bart has and they’ve destroyed lisa’s emotional potential.

      The creators of the show have stated the central theme of the Venture Bro is failure. Even Jonahs Sr. is lauded as a hero of the ever optimistic atomic age, he is a failure as a father. Rusty tries to live up to his father's greatness but constantly fails in inventions and restoring Venture Industries to its former glory of respect, wealth and power.
