Splicing is so magical to me, thanks for much for introducing me to that concept, it opens so many possibilities. I learned a huge ton from your legendary video "getting started in game fishing" which also went through some of the splicing techniques. Really epic. Btw, the mainline / multicolored braid was 80 lbs too? So youre working with all components up until the wind-on leader with the same breaking strength?
@@UltimateFishingTV yep makes sense. so you'd expect less risk and perhaps more longevity out of this setup, making it worth the extra time spent preparing it all i guess - nothing more gutting than terminal tackle failure when finally getting that bite, especially when game fishing!
And this would be heaps better than just making a loop on the end of the braid (with say a spider's hitch), then attaching a wind-on leader to this loop? I know knots in mono weaken it a fair bit, but would a spider's hitch in braid really weaken the braid significantly? cos a spider's hitch is a pretty thin/small knot when used on braid (can even do a doubled loop for more strength maybe). I have never had this setup break before on huge fish. Is this setup you show really worth the difference you reckon? I have all the gear for it. Thank you for the vid btw. Cheers
Would this also work deep dropping for Blue nose in 200 to 300m or would you lose to much sensitivity with the mono. Just trying to cover as many bases as possible.
Great video, but you could have brief your braid inside the hollow on the second section instead of doing the hitches. That’s the beauty of hollow braid. Thank you for posting this
The snell knot pulls the hook in towards the line, in towards itself, so when a fish picks the bait up the hook has already half rolled into its mouth because of the angle the snell puts the hook on...the uni knot is just a simple knot like any good fishing knot, but it doesn't help influence the hook to roll as much as the snell as the snell is already at that half roll angle when the fish eats and turns
This makes literally no sense and only more room for failure. Why is there two spectra to spectra connections? Are you not spooled full of hollow core?
Great vid!! I'll have to try out your no glue solid to hollow braid knot a try!! Thinks for the info!!
Hey Matt, great stuff, what hook size and model from VMC? also where i can find those rubber little band for the hook pressure point? thanks Franco

Use some tubing where the snell goes through the eye of the hook. If the circle hook is at 90degrees to the line alot of pressure is placed there.
That's a nice clean rigging, but what's the advantage over something simple that just goes direct from braid to mono like an FG knot?
FG is a great knot, but being a knot it can get hung up on the guides. Whereas the splice will slide though the guides much better.

When no available hollow core line / what do you rec. braid to mono then with a bimini?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge ❤️❤️❤️✌️
Hey Matt, just wondering where you got your needle set from? Thanks
the rod's action is medium i thought for jigging you should get a fast action rod. Can you please explain the reason behind this?
Hi I live your videos I would love to fish with you one time

Great video! What is the braid size on the spool?
80lb Shimano Kairiki
Would this set up be ideal for live baits targeting Kingis off the rocks?
Any news on the spear tags patent?
We are still working on it.

Awesome mate! Welcome.
it's amberjack?
Yellow Tail King Fish, they are related to amberjack
@@UltimateFishingTV thanks for information.

^What he said. 😉
@@UltimateFishingTV Sorry to steal the thunder Matty 😂. Keep up the great work mate
@@lastpaceended5866 thanks maybe that's why I've been missing so many hits on my livies lol
Can I also use this (rod and reel) setup for standard speed jigging ?
At a pinch yes, the Shimano Abyss rod is a jig rod but the Talica 20 is on the bigger side for jigging.
Which Talica is that?
Talica 20, dude. It's almost right at the beginning of the video. 0:35
Good Job Brother
Oh lured what a bait m8!!!
Rigmarol is an understatement. 🤦♂️
good day sir,, mybe you have some old fishing gear that you could give away,, thank you.
You should move to California U.S.A. and learn that Kingfish are really Yellowtail.
Why not just tie a PR knot? It's a 100% join
Twinkie ?

This set up has caught Kingfish up to 30kg and hasn't failed. No the braid isn't hollow core, just the 10m section in the splice.
@@UltimateFishingTV what's the braid size on the reel Matt
