    For anyone else who might want to replace their air bags and run into a problem with the nut- don't cut your floor. There is a access point in the back of the cab coverd with piece of plastic.

    • @hawkboy000
      @hawkboy000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That access point is a small 1/2 hole. Completely useless. Anyways…the nut is welded on from factory. Once it breaks, you’re screwed. Your best option is to weld a new nut by removing the air bag, holding the nut flush with the metal beam where the air bag sits, and weld it on some how. It’s a pain but Volvo engineers are idiots.

      I get the torch and cut that small 1/2 hole and make it into a bigger square and then I have all the access to heat up the square welded nut 👍🏽

    June/22. Can't believe you cut a hole in the floor! My mechanic had to weld new plates where the air bag attaches to the cab when he changed my trucks bags. Unfortunately, the cab leans and for the 2X the cab shocks have failed. So changing the entire cab suspension system to the new style.

  • @fredlubimov3642

    there’s a plastic cover behind the cab, right above the bag, if removed you have access to that nut. Don’t need to cut the floor lol

      Behind that plastic cover there is only less then 1/2 inch hole dodo bird so how do you call that access I will/ would cut the floor like he did dumb engineering.

      @@scentsofstatess.o.s.8029 I just ran into that problem today. I ended up just cutting away at the old air bag until the bolt was left hanging. I will have to get someone to weld a nut under the sleeper. Not sure how

    If you air your cab up and put a jack under it and jack it up, then undo your airlines it will deflate and you can jack it up a little more swap the bags and then hook the airlines back up and then let the jack down and then re air the bags up and pull the jack out... that’s how I change them on my Classic Xl Freightliner. You can’t lift your bunk up to get to that from the inside?

    They can be a bitch. 2008 international 9200 I , you have to go through the bunk, tip the sleeper bed and remove a large floor plate then you can get to the top of the air bags. Took a few hours to figure that out.

    • @gavikpt1
      @gavikpt1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Air springs should be straight. If they aren’t straight then there’s chances your can moved or something. Not a big job. Just pull it with chain or a strap and replace the torque arm under the cab. Pretty simple

  • @Pete-from-Tn

    Scary part is, I feel my 1995 T600 is going to make that look like a piece of cake. I have a bed on the back of mine. And then a headache rack. Can't even see the bags. Figure the bed and bags will have to come off. Then replace the bags, install everything after that.

      Will know more tomorrow. Going to see how hard it is to get to them from below. And spray the bolts down good with Kroil . If you have never used that stuff. Best ever made. High as all get out. But works wonders for sure.

    How's it going hey Chase I wanted to ask you did you get some wobble at 65 miles per hour do because of defective airbags cuz I have the same truck I got a 2006 Volvo vnl 670 and I get a wobble on 63 to 65 mph and I change the steers tires my kingpins are ok I got no bald spot on the tires you know my front shocks are ok and I'm thinking that it's probably one of the airbags and it's it looks like the passenger side airbag don't go fully up but the driver side airbag does so I wanted to see if you have any experience with that I appreciated thank you

    If you could have used a hole saw to cut the hole above the air bag it would have looked better. Otherwise you did it about the only way you could.
