  • Our journey to Malmesbury on the busy N7 was slowed by roadworks which have been going on for years, but we were happy see the impressive new mall at the town's entrance. True to form, Malmesbury was bustling with activity, a vibrant energy that we always notice whenever we visit. Despite our short time in the town, we were captivated by the town's rich history and fascinating architecture, which never fail to intrigue us. It was delightful to explore Malmesbury again and rediscover its unique charm and heritage. #DustBugs #dustbugstravel #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #westerncape #malmesbury

What a beautiful town. From the church, Town hall, caravan park, grounds, and the drone view of the Sasko premises was stunning.please be safe on the road. Thank you.

How refreshing it is, after seeing derelict sports facilities in other towns in this series, seeing the tennis courts being upgraded. Malmesbury is a town on my bucket list, it is self contained with everything within 10 minutes. We often go through to the pool, from Durbanville, it is by far the cleanest public swimming pool out there and everyone has a refreshing time. I also go through to the Spar. I often hear the Malmesbury train in the mornings and late evenings, it is pulled by diesel locomotives. Malmesbury will reach City status possibly within the next 10 years. The Swartland Municipality enjoys the best run Municipality in SA title and this episode most certainly highlights this. The caravan park was much better than I imagined.

My favorite (favourite) kind of town. Suburbia outside of major Southern African cities. Always quaint and new developments. Love it. BTW, I always enjoy the Afrikaanlish.

Hi guys an amazing thriving town the old and the new buildings all well maintained functioning railway station swimming pool amazing sports fields and the schools top notch facilities and buildings love the contrast between the old and the new suburbs the NGK church was stunning those little faces are on lots of old churches in the UK there's a few different explaining them it's guite confusing!!! .the old synagogue repurposed as a museum again. Plenty of churches plus a old Catholic Church 1864 just after the NGK church is intriguing. I support if I was to describe the town I would call it a market town like its sister in Wiltshire England its actually the oldest Borough in England..loved the caravan park in town with thatched roofs and peacocks. Amazing video thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one

Hi you two! Thank you for this nice trip under blue skies and the view of the town down from the blue sky! Malmesbury is bigger than I expected but very beautiful old buildings so well kept, especially the impressive old DRC. The town's hundreds of years history is so interesting. I can't wait for the next trip (but I will!) Until next time, keep safe!

This is a busy busy town but my heart still lingers on that beautiful white church with a beautiful entrance, I wonder how it looks like inside, and that synagogue which is now turned to be a museum, I so wish to have seen the inside of both, but otherwise as always, it was a beautiful journey, thanks a lot .

Hi guys, thanks very much for showing us malmesbury, my wife loved this very much, so did i, but my wife left there at the age of 14 (1980), after living her young life there, and has many fond memories, and hasn't been back since really. Now over in the UK, she was so happy to see her old church, school and other things of her life there. This was wonderful, thanks very much. IT has changed so much in all these years, it's good seeing Malmesbury going from strength to strength. Thanks again, take care.

I love all the trees and old buildings. The little foot notes on the historical buildings is a sweet touch.
I didn't realise it has become a big bustling town. Peacocks were stunning. Thanks for a stunning drive once again🎉🎉❤❤🎉🎉

Wow! Malmesbury is so much larger than I imagined it to be. I think I visited the town way back in 1981. No wonder it's expanded since then! Beautiful DR church and synagogue - the interior of which should be spectacular too. Your drone coverage sums up the town superbly. Thank you for the visit.

MY HOMETOWN 😍😍😍 I am so glad that you went back, the last time you were there was such a short visit 🙈
Im speaking under correction, but I think the reason that building (its a historic building btw) havent been renovated yet, is that they have not received clearance to start renovating, or a lack of funding. It depends on which rumour you choose to listen to 😂
But thank you so much Curtis and Sonia, I miss Malmesbury and my people so much and I am grateful for the 2 of you for showing people the beauty of the Heart of the Swartland ❤

Where you said amandelrug by the bridge is dalsig. Amandelrug is where the spar is. Die wingerd behind that. Going down from the mall, tafelzicht on the left, Panorama on the right and bergzicht just after. Moved here from cape town in 2006. Best decision ever. The laagwater bruggie does get flooded in very bad winters. Loved seeing my dorp on you tube.

What a wonderful place! Do the Afrikaans-speaking people in Malmesbury still "brei" - i.e. roll their Rs like many French people do?

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I think many do, but it's not limited to Malmesbury at all. We heard that charming pronunciation of the r's almost everywhere we went. 👌🏻

Cape certainly looks more developed and better run than the Orange Free State. I was surprised to see how run-down Orange Free State is compared to the Cape, like boarded-up shops, potholes everywhere, and roads crumbling. I'm judging from watching your videos, I have never been to the OFS.

What is the purpose of all the town hostels? To board school children from outlying areas?

    • @DustBugsTravel

Since this is such a major agricultural area, I definitely think so. 🌽🌾 All the farmers' and farmworkers' children must be accommodated and it's not practical to drive back-and-forth to town every day.

We don't often come across synagogues on our travels, but make a point of filming them when we do. You'll see some scattered throughout our episodes in a handful of the towns we've visited. We're not planning on making videos of Cape Town suburbs again, there are just too many other places in our country waiting to be explored. We hope you'll join us for those. 🇿🇦🚙

Hi thank you on this video ☺️❤ but I want to ask you a question ❓ please 🙏 is it true that most of the high-end and nice houses are inhabited by white people in cape town like bloubregstrand and durbanville and strand and other neighborhoods with luxurious homes as well as in areas in Johannesburg such as Sandton and Roodepoort and randburg please reply
