I used to work at a Cash Converters in Australia for 5 years .. layout, shelving, cabinets, carpet & colours exactly the same. I guess the location just closed & didn't move anything. What a trip.
I love your thrift episodes and especially the first person view. It's like a thrifting sim. I used to go thrifting a lot a couple of years ago. Now I can do it again but without spending all the time and money, and, most importantly, all the bad smells and I won't end up with piles of stuff in my apartment. LGR Thrifts - No.1 money, time and space saver! Thank you!
I feel really happy watching these videos. I always thought I was alone liking older games, obsessing over older computers and consoles... Thank you LGR for showing me that there's a strong community for all this stuff!
Man, watching these episodes is so addictive. On multiple occasions I spot something I just want to quickly grab through the monitor. On an unrelated note, I need an new monitor. Oh look, I see one over th-
Love these videos! I'm an up and coming collector in the Playstation world and my channel has all my pickups and console mods etc. Going to the local (and sometimes not so local) charity shops and car boot sales is a weekly highlight for me as you never know what you'll find. Keep the videos coming!
"Cash Converters" is a brand of "pawn shop" over the pond here. Most of the "pawn shops" over here aren't actually pawn shops but are 28 day loan places as being a "pawn shop" requires you to have a license.
Seriously, Cling, you and Pat Contri are the reasons why I wanna hit thrift stores and the outdoor flea markets as much as I can. There's seriously some good stuff to find.
What a great thrift! I'm especially excited you found Crash Bandicoot: Warped and Crash Team Racing. Back in the day, I played a lot of PS1 titles, and those two are favourites from that console. They're a ton of fun to play, even now, and I'd recommend either to any collector.
Ah Cash Converters. I remember going there when I was a kid. They used to have a very large selection of SNES games. I used to go every weekend and get a few when I was about 8 or 9. Those were the good days :)
Dammit, wish we had something comparable to these big Goodwill outlets in the UK. We have plenty of charity shops, but they tend to be very small. S'pose that makes it all the more sweet when you do find a gem - like the excellent condition copy of Skies of Arcadia for the DC I got for 3 quid. Sadly, though, such finds are rare. Really enjoying the series, man!
Interesting... ;D Actually, you spotted a couple things this time around I have insights on. That "First Mouse" I believe is actually the very first computer mouse I ever used at a friend's place when I was roughly 10 years old back in 1992/1993. Could be wrong, but it looks VERY much like it. Also, I actually have that Art Explosion pack... on DVD, so it only takes up 5 discs. Clipart packs are pretty pointless for the average individual but they're a godsend for businesses if you need any kind of artwork just to make what you're doing more presentable or useful and your company doesn't have an artist on staff. Mind you, these things can only get you so far. The moment you need something specific instead of generic, you absolutely have to draw it yourself or ask/hire an artist to assist.
I remember when that goodwill extension was just a barren wasteland. Now its got windows. *sniff* they build up so fast. Cant wait for another oddware, let alone one with that goofy mousepen! Thanks for the video and putting a smile on my face :)
9:33 looks like the clipart pack includes some alchemical sigils as well as demonic crests, according to the dictionary. You can create Christmas cards for your relatives *and* summon dark spirits with the simple click of a mouse!
I remember cash converters from when I lived in Calgary, canada. If you asked they'd put you on a list, if a game you we hunting for came in they'd call you.
The progress of construction on that one Goodwill is quite tiltillating. In all honesty, I'm loving these. And this was a really good haul. Envy is my constant companion now. xP
I imagine MJR or PUR playing the Rhodes piano as your journey starts- would be a great clip to go with the soothing music. GL thrifting my fellow spy glass hunter!
Oh my God, my ears perked up when you said the words "Cash Converters". lol We had one of those in my town (Charlottetown, PE), and they were straight up a fence for the local thieves. Like, blatantly taking obviously stolen stuff in front of other customers. They ended up buying lots of junk aside from that, so once they were busted they ended up having to try riding on the inventory from a Microplay (a video game rental/sales place from Quebec) in the same building that was closing up. After buying what they could of that inventory, they continued to fail and, after taking over Microplay's old spot and downsizing space and staff, they had their own inventory bought up by another local pawn shop and finally left.
Yes! The microwave cookbooks, and old ads from that early-mid 80s era are hilarious. Microwave manufacturers really did fondly imagine we'd be cooking 3-course meals in our microwaves, instead of just defrosting and reheating stuff. The funny thing is that I'd hate living without a microwave, but I'd never "cook" anything beyond a pre-made meal in it.
that antek case was actually a NZXT source 210 case! I recognized it as soon as you pulled it out of the box! one of my favorite cases ive used in computer builds, very thick steel for only 40 bucks, and the plastic on the front isnt cheap plastic. also there was lots of room on the inside
Great Show as always! I took a tip from you and looked in the board games and dvd for goods at the local thrift and to my suprise I found a sealed copy of Bioshock-pc and Dungeon Seige 2 for .99 each! Thanks for the series and keep it up!
Been watching the occasional PC game review on your channel for a while and I just discovered that you a thrifting series. I've been reselling part time and love these kind of videos. You are very entertaining and I have been learning a lot about computer stuff to look out for.
Why is that extension of Goodwill's make the perfect side story for this series. It's been oddly entertaining to see it gradually being built. From the illustrious words of doge, such LGR. Wow.
Man I love your Voice. It always makes me calm down for some reason and I always keep a Video of you running in the Background, when I'm working on something.
I'm watching this (again) in 2020 and amazed and a little jealous of all the console games found at Goodwill in this video. These days I'm ecstatic if I see just 1 or 2 that isn't a Madden and not scratched to high heaven.
We got cash converters here in the UK not sure if its the same as cash masters but they're a cool store here. Where I got most of the parts for my new PC they even had fully made gaming PCS for only like £250.
That copy of Independence day....looks startlingly like one I owned back when I was younger. The crack on the jewel case is almost identical. I haven't seen that game in ages, and IIRC I sold it at a gamestop with all the rest of my PS1 games.
Great video! A Dangerous Creatures review would rock. I'm about the same age as you and had Dangerous Creatures as one of my first interactive CD-ROM programs for my first Windows 95 machine.
I see you Microprose Magic: The Gathering in the intro. Had to be one of my favorite PC games growing up. I remember it coming with an oversized Shivan Dragon in the box. Ahh the memories
That slide projector thing is something I had to use in medical school in the 90s as we had to go through a gazillion of slides containing all sorts of anatomical and pathological pictures we needed to properly identify. Ours came with a compact cassette tape that talked you through the slides as well. I think some of these machines are still in use as a lot of those slides are still not digitized. Weird to see it back on a YT thrifting video.
2 AM. Just finished beating a level in Spintires and was all set to go to bed. Saw your video, and decided to watch before going to sleep. Then you told me to get a quick lunch. IT WAS TOO TEMPTING. I got some oreos.
Do you ever go to yard sales? A few days ago I got a Sega Genesis with the 32x expansion, controllers, Golden Axe, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Pokemon Pinball, Pokemon Trading Card Game, and a golden Majora's Mask cart with a holographic label for... Wait for it... $12. And it's all in great condition, just had to buy a missing cable for the Genesis. That's why it's always a good idea to get up early on Saturday morning and go yard saling!
HaHaHa I just clicked "Subscribe" when you yelled "interesting, interesting aghhgrrr EVERYTHING IS INTERESTING". That's what i felt too... :D. Great channel.
I have that TV set you turned down!!!! GE mono rf-only, big and heavy, mine's from 1990. I grew up with and inherited it and I'm very attached now, I have mine converted to composite and connect all my pre-hdmi consoles as well as DVD and VHS :3
I actually made games for the N-Gage back in the days! Worked on Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell and Asphalt 2
It was hell! That system has about the same or even less capacity than the ps1 so we had to do a lot of cheating to make the games look actual.
But I still had loads of fun! I never turn down a good challenge
what language did you use to code them
I love your beard
Asphalt was an amazing game! I forgot all about that!
I just started watching this but why does it feel so addicting. Its like a feeling I get when watching Pawn Stars or Stoage wars but in a good way.
I used to work at a Cash Converters in Australia for 5 years .. layout, shelving, cabinets, carpet & colours exactly the same. I guess the location just closed & didn't move anything. What a trip.
Cashies now known world wide thanks to Dankpods.

"Let's go thrifting !"
I'm enjoying this line way more than I should.
It's great to see where the mouse pen came from, that was some oddware indeed!
yeah, very surprised he actually got the mousepen from a thrift shop on-camera then he did an oddware video about it
"For the price of....mmmmmmoney!"
pure gold
Adult diapers at goodwill,
The persistent reminder of our mortality.
our bowels mortality.
The N-Gage is surprisingly decent, and a few of the games are half decent, even if the controls are a bit awkward.
I feel really happy watching these videos. I always thought I was alone liking older games, obsessing over older computers and consoles... Thank you LGR for showing me that there's a strong community for all this stuff!
That scotch & gin set looks handy for work; I'm a bus driver.
Missing the vodka though
@@cajonesAFK more likely brandy judging by the 70s esque design
Yaaay more LGR thrifts!
I never thought watching people shopping would be so enjoyable.

When you said 'quick lunch' I actually had a sweet and sour pop noodle on my desk ready to eat =).

Ive known people who bought stuff from cash converters and then police contact them saying they have to give it back coz it was stolen property. 😆
I loved Microsoft Dangerous Creatures as a kid. I still love the kinda cheesy/funny tour guides.
Still killin' me with this timeless Video 😂 "random junk section" ... This is my first stop in every store ♥
I stayed 15 mins late at work just to watch your awesome video,
Did you get paid for that 15 minutes? 😆
Watching this makes me feel sad that charity shops in the UK are shit
You've never been to Florida, have you?
Seriously, Cling, you and Pat Contri are the reasons why I wanna hit thrift stores and the outdoor flea markets as much as I can. There's seriously some good stuff to find.

Everytime I watch your thrift videos I weirdly look forward to seeing how the construction on goodwill is developing...
There is no other way to watch this show than to pull up quick lunch and start watching.
"mmmm, the smell of leather belts, or an interesting fart.
interesting
Nothing ends a day better then a good chilli and another thrifts videos!
This has quickly become my favorite series on youtube! Keep these coming!

We do have Cex to be fair.
@@quintessence2183 That's true. Not sure if the Goodwills operate under a similar uniform pricing database though.
@@MyBrainIsPrettier Yeah, Goodwill is also usually not as diligent. Cex is always pretty realistic pricing and not a bargain or anything.

Who noticed the ad for The Sims Online on the back of Earth And Beyond
People enjoy watching your thrifting adventures because you make them sound funny and... interesting!!!
In the 80's my mater and pater collected 2 huge volumes of Microwaving magazines. They remained on the shelf!
I remember cash converters from when I lived in Calgary, canada.
If you asked they'd put you on a list, if a game you we hunting for came in they'd call you.
I remember that Dangerous Creatures CD-ROM. The 'Lands of Ice and Snow' video on it had me in stitches as a kid...
The progress of construction on that one Goodwill is quite tiltillating.

Holy crap. Seeing both that ps1 frogger and Pandemonium together is giving me a major nostalgia rush. Those games and Mario Party were my childhood
I have a ngage that's just sitting in a drawer.. you can have it. Just give me some time to get everything ready.
That'd be sweet, send me a message if/when you want to!
only question is how did you get to access this video 4 days ago?

he did say the store sometimes smells like poo right at the end of the video
