3:47 Sad but interesting tidbit about Flight Simulator 2000: it's the last one to feature the World Trade Center towers. Even the manual gave you the exact coordinates to fly to them. There was no Flight Simulator 2001 for obvious reasons.
There never would've been a 2001 anyway, since they released in two-year intervals. Also, if I recall the earliest versions of Flight Simulator 2002 featured the WTC towers, since it was developed very shortly before 9/11 in 2001.
+Lazy Game Reviews I think it was Flight Sim 2000 which Microsoft had to release a patch for to remove a section of the intro video where John and Martha King of King Flight School were shown playing the game; John almost flys a plane into the Empire State Building and Martha exclaims "Watch out John, you nearly hit a building", to which he replies looking into the camera "Wow, that would be cool!!"
Didnt Ashens review one that was the same mould just different paint job? Soon as i saw it it reminded me of his channel. Could be mistaken, could of just been cause it was awful tat. haha
I love Roses, they're so cool. Once they were selling clearance 3-piece suits for $20 each. A few of my friends snagged em and just wore em to high school the next day. It was great.
If you were curious about the crap that is _MK&A Crush Course_ in episode 9 of LGR Thrifts, my video on it is now online! LGR Plays - Mary-Kate & Ashley Crush Course [ft. PushingUpRoses]
creepingnet Alan Parsons project, rolling stones, Steve Winewood, ZZ top, the police, Asia, Supertramp, Tom Petty and the heartbreakers, foreigner, stynx, Phil Collins and Rod Stewart. If it had one from David Bowie it would be the best find from LGR thrifts and one heck of a good beginners vinyl collection!
I actually once bought Clue: the VCR board game once at a thrift store, but didn't notice the sticker that said Beta. I didn't know there was a Betamax version.
Someone found an Atari 1040ST!? I assume that was in Europe? I'm pretty sure that unusual looking TV you saw was a GE Portacolor... the last ever TV to use vacuum tubes. It was in production until at least 1979!
Had a shitty day. Saw this in my inbox. Day, VASTLY improved ! Why do these vids bring so much joy? i've got no idea but they do. Also, love seeing how that goodwill expansion is coming along :D
That PS2 library of yours must be getting up there in quantity! Spotted the LOTR: Two Towers game in the pile of awesome, and that game still holds up well. I'm gonna be waiting patiently on that Mary Kate & Ashley PlayStation review over here. :) I've said it before, but I love your approach with this series. While the video games and computer-related finds are awesome, it's also really neat to see the oddities that you find and the injection of humor is just right. I'm just one of many that your series inspires to stop into a thrift shop on a whim, just to see what's there. It's the thrill of the unknown, the wacky, the weird, and the occasional OMG REALLY? find that you can (and will) brag about to anyone who can hear you. Looking forward to Episode 10 (X?) and beyond. Thanks for putting these together and sharing them with us.
now is the best time to collect for PS2 games since so many of them are super cheap and often forgotten and not all that many people are collecting for it yet.
Peter Skerritt Oh yeah, I've got a couple hundred games for it now and shows no signs of slowing down. Games are all over the place out there and are super cheap.
Lazy Game Reviews PS2 has so many great games no matter what genre you re talking about - RPGs, Fighters, even some good shooters, and one of the best beat-em-up games Godhand. Right now is the time to get them cuz other than sum RPGs most games are really cheap, even in stores. I always find sum great games at low prices even retail shops (i.e. Disc Replay). Some Gamestops will have a few left and if youre lucky they ll be complete, but I picked up Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance disc only for a buck then foud a case and manual for like 3 bucks.
Just went thrifting yesterday and found Kings quest one and the handbook together and sims, myst, and backyard baseball. I used to hate thrift shops until i realized it was goldmine for stuff when you actually look
In 1994 my parents bought Ford Aerostar minivan. It had a tape deck in it, swanky! It came with a tape of music, and had some blurb about ford at the end. It sticks out in my mind because it had Gloria Estefan's "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" on it. I wore that part of the tape out listening to that song over and over. Love these thrift videos Clint, please keep them coming!
Watching these makes me wish there were more goodwills in my area. There is only one within an hour drive and they just sell all the crap the walmart next door cant get rid of.
I don't know why, but the intro makes me imagine LGR always having the video recording on him just in case he says something smart or interesting. :'D Naturally I know he doesn't, but just a funny mental image that popped into my head. xP
5:59 Do you like Huey Lewis and The News? Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.
It's funny. Before last week, I hadn't walked into a Goodwill (to buy at least) in a good 5 or so years. Then last week I got this itch to go check out all of the local Goodwill's and assorted thrift stores around town, and I ended up finding more games than I knew what to do with. Considering most of my game collection was either sold for rent money or stolen by robbers, it's nice that I can now start collecting again without only having to rely on sites like eBay. Thanks Clint!
Since watching these videos I've been more than happy to get dragged along with my family to Goodwills, heh. The other day I found Myst and Riven, plus the full boxed set of this anime I'd been meaning to watch. Thanks for showing off how fun thrifting can be!
2:28 in the bottom, theres a Sony mvc-fd73, a early retail digital camera in Sony's Mavica line. This camera used floppy disks. Just like to point out a very subtle detail. If I find any more I'll point them out
While I sit here waiting for the video to play, I just want you to know that you are one of the few TH-camrs I will let the entire ads play through. Thanks for the great content! I've been trying to get back to my Banished game, but somehow ended up binging this series instead.
Sorry to be off topic but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Paxton Hunter i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process now. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
I used to collect those lego orient exlress sets as a kid, but it was very hard to do. I do remember having that particular set. Never threw anything away, awesome to see it again! I wish we had stores like that in the Netherlands. Here you only have retro game stores that are well aware of the value of games. Makes collecting games an expensive hobby.
Interesting finds. Every time I go thrifiting to try to find some PC games I end up finding a bunch of Madden NFL games for the PS2. It's almost like there are billions of copies of Madden out there.
Ha, the bowling pin! I soo would have bought that. As a kid the one actual birthday party i ever had was at a bowling alley. They would give you their old bowling pins and writ "happy birthday" on them as sort of a party package deal. Then all your party going friends would sign it. Kind of a weird thing to be at a goodwill but cool nostalgia for me.
Your editing ability and general content just seem to be getting better. I really enjoy everything you make and it's a lot of fun to watch you progress in your medium. Keep on going!
Roses was a local department store chain... they used to be an independent retailer similar to K-Mart. I remember shopping there with my parents as a kid, it was the only store of that type in my hometown. Now they're owned by Variety Wholesalers, Inc, which runs a number of discount and dollar store chains.
Roses use to be (depending which stores, lucky enough) a great place for cheap retro games. A few years back (like 2005) I found a sealed copy of Raiden Trad for the Genesis..for $5. Along with a 10x+ copies of Panzer Dragoon II Zwei for the Saturn, new Game Gears in box and new Turbo Dual Wireless Pads for the SNES by Acclaim. Big Lots kinda sucks now since its no longer doing buyouts and etc great deals anymore. If you're near an Ollie's Outet..that place has been a great goldmine for VERY Cheap PC Games Lazy Game Reviews *hint hint* like I picked up Split/Second for $4, NFS Shift 2 for $4..they also had You Dont Know Jack! (THQ) for $1.
I remember I had a board game with a vcr you played at the same time. I totally forgot about it til this video. But it was so awesome!!! That's one of the great thing about your channel. You give me back memories that were lost at the back of subconscious. 😁
Ah yes, Roses! Like you, I went to these all the time as a kid and they actually opened a new one near me last year and even though it's new, it's still like stepping back about 20-30 years.
I have literally sat here watching Thrifts videos (so far 9 I think) for over an hour! I also like to go thrift store shopping! Thanx for giving me the means to waste an hour at work!
It's usually always the same method with the Fat model, look up Free McBoot for the software and a tutorial from TH-cam that shows you how to swap discs while the game is running, without using the button
h34dsh0tgaming Hit up PSX-Scene..there is a forum on FreeMcBoot along with some other homebrew projects. If you don't want to go though the hassle of doing the mod yourself (via 007, Swap Magic, Independence Exploit, etc) there is a FREE service on the forum to send a memory card to the installer and someone will install FMCB gratis.
I literally only came down to the comments to say that, but you did it already xD I wish I had AUF, but I'm too lazy to find it online, and my brother would kill me if I modded the PS2.
chuckle, the place is called roses and it sells off brand stuff. i think the creators of that store/chain were fans of the bard. a rose by any other name....
I just discovered Spyro Gyra for myself! The art work caught my eye in the records you was looking through in your video. Looked for them on Apple Music and there they are! I'm currently watching your thrifting playlist whilst doing art. HUGE thanks
IntoTheMindlessAbyss No it is something too do with the lasers. Bought them at a garage sale and tried to fix them, with no such luck. Someday I will get around to buying a new laser.
Well that is a pretty common case. The lens do tend to go out after excessive use. I got one of the first models. I was shocked that it still works smoothly. Next year it will hit 20 years old. : (
I have my own Jack Nicklaus memory: I popped into an Electronics Boutique where they had "hidden" easter eggs in plain sight. I picked up a handful and won some Jack Nicklaus game and a badass Duke 3D t-shirt (the box cover graphic on a white tee) which was sadly lost to the ages.
old video new comment im binge watching thrifts. i still want you to send me a list of any EU games you are looking for. in the middle of nowhere sweden but i find things sometimes here. its mainly dvd case size games or dual case cd ones. but heck i might even have some at home or know ppl who do that dont need them. so please do send me a list and if i find any or know of any id be happy to send some to you. keep the content up. the reviews and the thrifts are my favs but i do find alot of enjoyment in retro builds too :) if you want contact just respond here and ill reach out to your contact email about things :)
When I was a kid a Roses went out of business and my dad found a crapton of brand new art supplies in the dumpster. Stickers, markers, crayons, construction paper. I think that started my love of dumpster diving.
You hit the LP jackpot! Love watching the thrifting vids. And the haul a few of your viewers sent in - a C64 and Tandy, and someone got an IBM 5150! Amazing...
2:40 I had a 1970 Monte Carlo! I drove it for about a year and recently sold it because I moved to an area where it wasn't practical, then gas prices dropped... I loved that car, best car I've ever owned, I kick myself for selling it every day.
One of the areas where I go searching for games, about 10 miles from me, has a Goodwill and a pawn shop that I always stop into... there's a Roses in the same area and I have NEVER thought to check there! Certainly going to now, lol... thanks for these videos, Clint! :-)
I have a Roses in my area as well down here in SC, and your totally right about that store, It use to be awesome back in the day though, as it was where I got a lot of GameGear games back in the day as they usually had the best prices in my area next to K-Mart, but Roses today almost a joke, but you do luck up and find something sometimes, so I got there when I don't feel like fighting Wal-Mart crowds, plus it's right around the corner from my main office for work.
Watching these has really made me want to check out the thrift stores in my area. There a like three or four goodwills less than a mile from each other lol. Hopefully I'll find something good.
I remember Roscoe McQueen just because it had very bad east Asian stereotypes. Getting Up was actually banned in Australia because the concept was based around graffiti. Good video :D It motivates me to go thrifting but I don't know any thrift shops near me of that magnitude and the car boot / flea market that happens every Sunday isn't too great for games.
Living in a tiny town, there is only ONE thrift store around and they have had games twice. Hard being a collector in a small town from Sweden sometimes.
"Mary Kate and Ashley! I've got to cover that sometime!" With cat litter, I hope. As for Mark Ecko, it ain't bad, really. Kind of a pastiche of game genres from the early 2000s... a little beat 'em up action here, some spray painting action there, and a dash of exploration.
Wow,Roses! That is where my mom used to shop every week when i was a kid. i remember we got our first VHS tape a half hour tape of public domain Flecher Brothers cartoons there when i was like three. To tell the truth I had forgotten they existed, the last time I was in there must have been around 2001 and they were still trying to sell audio tapes. Oh I hope someone picked up that Muppet Movie soundtrack LP for a buck, the last time I checked they were going for around $150 on Ebay,so that is a good find. This video was a real Nostalgia trip for me,thanks for making it.
My family has the exact same VCR Cluedo game ! When we were kids, my sister and I would play it just to see the corny acting provided by the VHS. The "intrigue" clips were the same as in this video (and the related videos) : Clue VCR Mystery Game--Clip 1 of 7 But the guy explaining the game was totally different. It was a famous French actor (who's role was the guy who got murdered, and presented us the game), with a Casper-like ghost sidekick cracking jokes all the time called "Euzeb". All the "intrigue" clips were dubbed in French, too. In fact, we enjoyed the VHS way more than the game itself. Sadly, even IMDB seems to have nothing about it. I wonder if we still have it...
Roses.. holy crap, Clint, that takes me back. I think we still have one in my hometown back in GA. I even remember one being part of a mall around Florence, SC once.
I had that Jack Nick. game on my IBM Aptiva (the one I've mentioned before in the comments on these vids). It was fun designing super tough courses where the hole was on top of a very thin mountain, or super easy ones where it was in a large bowl.

+Lazy Game Reviews That's true, now that you mention it. I remember Flight Simulator 98 as well, but no 99.
That action figure is literally the worst action figure I've ever seen. Including every figure Ashens has ever reviewed.
Seriously, it's somehow worse than anything he's ever had. He needs this. Lazy Game Reviews you should send it to him :)
Didnt Ashens review one that was the same mould just different paint job? Soon as i saw it it reminded me of his channel. Could be mistaken, could of just been cause it was awful tat. haha
Speaking of Ashens..someone buy that from Rose's and send that bad boy in. Throw in some Larry the Cable Guy Food for good measure.
I think he reviewed that same figure just with a different (yet still terrible) paint job in his fake army men special
MrFirewolf18 i thought the same thing, it looks so familiar...
I love Roses, they're so cool. Once they were selling clearance 3-piece suits for $20 each. A few of my friends snagged em and just wore em to high school the next day. It was great.

I did watch it in the end Clint ;) can't help but feel this post is inspired by my laziness.

You should grow a full beard, you'll get more awesome than you are

You mean like I had for quite a while? Watch some of my older videos, like this one! LGR - Moto Racer - PC Game Review
You can use 007 agent under fire to soft mod a ps2. Once the mod is saved to a memcard it can be copied over to other memcards
5:52 - Those were some GREAT Albums.
Thank you, I thought so too!
Seriously, that's a murderer's row of great records from the early '80s.
Huey Lewis Sports OH MY LORD

Lmao. You do the Duke Nukem voice so bad ass. Haha. "Disposing of refuse responsibly, baby."...haha.
Ahh, it does look like some model of that for sure! Very cool.
What's that misshapen growth coming out of his head? Oh. That's a flesh colored headset. Real classy, China.
What a hypnotizing dangling participle.
Had a shitty day.

I'm always really excited to watch these, and any videos by you really. You do a fantastic job, can't wait to see more!
Ahhh... retail despair.
If you ever find yourself in the UK, I highly recommend visiting B&M, or better yet (worse), Poundland :D

And _this_ is why I'm hesitant to pass on buying things on these outings :P

chuckle, the place is called roses and it sells off brand stuff. i think the creators of that store/chain were fans of the bard. a rose by any other name....
The typewriter you found was a Royal HH desktop typewriter from the 1950's
You've lost weight. Looking good!
Thanks!
I just discovered Spyro Gyra for myself! The art work caught my eye in the records you was looking through in your video.
Looked for them on Apple Music and there they are!
I'm currently watching your thrifting playlist whilst doing art.
HUGE thanks
I'm currently on the look out for Sega Saturn games since I managed to find a system on this crummy island I live on. lol
***** Lucky for you. All I got is a beat up copy of Virtua Fighter 2 and Daytona USA. hahaha
IntoTheMindlessAbyss Lucky you, all I have is 2 broken Saturns with a lose Virtual Fighter 2.
If they ain't saving then they aren't broken. You just need to replace the CMOS battery then it can save games again.
I can't believe someone made me excited to see the new construction of a building.
A goodwill no less.
Do you manage to play all of these games?
Usually, yes! And most of them I've already played before this and am just picking up because I want to own it.
Lazy Game Reviews How often do you play (games, of course!) per day?
***** Shut the fuck up, and go back to lazytown. Its where you belong.
*****
"They're all available online via torrents"
i cringed.
Jeremy Masters Support mom and pop stores.
Great episode. I'm always impressed at what you find compared to what's around my house.
well, you gotta love that fancy intro with the newspaper skit and all. Fancy stuff is fancy.
4:58 I half expected you to wake up being dragged to a trash compactor while Goodwill shock-troops make snarky remarks and laugh at your misfortune.
You hit the LP jackpot! Love watching the thrifting vids. And the haul a few of your viewers sent in - a C64 and Tandy, and someone got an IBM 5150! Amazing...
*slowly claps* When you said you had a raging clue I shed a single manly nostalgia tear for that South Park reference. Good job LGR good job.
2:40 I had a 1970 Monte Carlo! I drove it for about a year and recently sold it because I moved to an area where it wasn't practical, then gas prices dropped... I loved that car, best car I've ever owned, I kick myself for selling it every day.
"This has GOT to be covered..." Oh god, I laughed my ass off. Five years late, but thank you for the LOL.
I need to be kept entertained while working so I'm going through the thrift videos. Perfection.
Awesome method on how you are linking/forwarding your social media links! Thanks for the inadvertent tip!
Those 5 1/4" Floppy's Sealed!
Thanks for putting my stuff I got from a thrift store at 13:10!
The Lord of the Rings PS2 game was my favorite find this time around.
One of the areas where I go searching for games, about 10 miles from me, has a Goodwill and a pawn shop that I always stop into... there's a Roses in the same area and I have NEVER thought to check there! Certainly going to now, lol... thanks for these videos, Clint! :-)
Totally jealous of those records! Definitely agree, you have to be there when they are put onto shelves or else you're not going to find anything.
I swear, he comes back with more items every time! Lol
Man, I wait all the week just to see a new episode of this, wish here in Brazil we have more thrift stores with a good price...
Whoa, I had no idea those lego sets were so expensive. Nice pickup!
I loved the old TV you were looking at.
I played that exact VCR clue game back years and years ago. It was actually a blast.
the package for the action figure had images from counter strike condition zero lol
Roses reminds me of my hometown Oddlots; just depressing, yet full of savings.
8:48 That's the typewriter we learned typing on at my high school in the early 90s. :)
And I looked up that Lego set. it's from 2003. Very cool.
OMG "the ways things work" definitely was part of my childhood...
Living in a tiny town, there is only ONE thrift store around and they have had games twice. Hard being a collector in a small town from Sweden sometimes.
"Mary Kate and Ashley! I've got to cover that sometime!"
With cat litter, I hope.
This is my favorite LGR Thrifts episode.
Nice Finds. Love the Mary Kate and Ashley Game. LOL!
The digital camera that was by the 2600 looks like one of the first Sony digital cameras. We had them at school, they had floppy disks for storage!
Jealous of the person that found the boxed copy of Grim Fandango :(
My family has the exact same VCR Cluedo game !
When we were kids, my sister and I would play it just to see the corny acting provided by the VHS.
The "intrigue" clips were the same as in this video (and the related videos) : Clue VCR Mystery Game--Clip 1 of 7
But the guy explaining the game was totally different.
You got Cornerstone on LP....NICE! I can't believe you found a Styx record on vinyl....freaking EPIC!
I had that Jack Nick. game on my IBM Aptiva (the one I've mentioned before in the comments on these vids). It was fun designing super tough courses where the hole was on top of a very thin mountain, or super easy ones where it was in a large bowl.
I am SO jealous of you finding the Muppet Movie record!
Wow that Mary Kate and Ashley game needs to be played, I remember playing that as a kid and I struggled on this golf game, ugh nostalgia.
Haha, oh man that golf game... come back next Wendesday :D
Can't wait!
I don't even know anything about games but man are these entertaining
