No whats really strange is sometimes goodwill sends stuff to other goodwills that dont sell at theres and might sell at the other, about a month ago i saw that exact phone same damage and EVERYTHING at the goodwill of ballantyne! which is in Charlotte. Very strange I guess i touched something LGR touched himself :/
What you don't see is Techmoan stalking right behind LGR to get some of that sweet woodgrain action.
Some very nice finds there, especially the Koala Pad! I saw they had Star Wars on VHS right next to the Ninja Turtles. I would have probably picked that up too!

Hey 8 bit guy, don't know if you do alot of thrifting but if you do check out thrift town in North Richland Hills off hwy 10 I believe.
Viewer finds a SEALED copy of stratospace, an extremely rare starcraft map pack released ONLY IN JAPAN? bizarre stuff man.
I looked it up and you're right it does seem extremely rare. Maybe whoever told you it was a Japan only release was wrong, or it was imported, or a Japanese dude moved in the United States with his stuff.
I think I'll go to the US one day as a tourist specifically to go thrifting.

Not gonna lie, LGR thrift videos have inspired me to start my own game collection~
Two things always get me in technology: Cream yellow/white plastics/ textured plastic and faux/real wood finish.
I can't get enough of technology and wood together.

Its the old dial Tv's with wood or faux wood panels that get me and old CRT monitors from the late 90's or early 2000's.
I never thought an 80's or 90's ibm computer could be beautiful.
But LGR has made me see the beauty in them.
That Dell was $5.15 cents? WTF? I'd pay four times that price just to have an extra computer kicking around for whatever reason.

Someone at my local flea market has been trying to sell a similar Dell far worse than that one for $40 for a few years now. I'm continually amazed that there exist junk stores selling junk at junk prices. We have none of those around my area.

Also, I went into a Goodwill location recently. Every time I go through one of these stores, I find... _nothing of value_. Or, something that may have value, if it weren't in such rough shape. I was tempted to snap a picture to show how little there was, besides the obligatory clothes.

Bill is now in goodwill and prison.
That type of display used in the Zenith record player is edge lit. They drill tiny dents in it so they catch the light. It was the same mechanism used in the Nissan 280Z which was also one of if not the first car with an onboard computer. The edge lit modules were stacked and if you ran low on washer fluid, that part would light up.

Holy crap! Someone got some Kings Quest games, Leisure Suit Larry, F-15 Strike Eagle, the diabolical Marble Madness, AND The Colonel's Bequest?! Score! We had all those at one time. I remember playing The Colonel's Bequest once and wasn't doing something right (game time was too late and I should have advanced acts by then but didn't), and ended up having the fountain's statue fly across the screen. Scared the heck out of me. Only managed to do it that one time. Oh, and if you try taking a shower in the game, it gets a little, shall we say, psycho? >.>

The minute you showed us that old Dell tower, I was hit with a wave of nostalgia. That was the first computer my family ever got. We had it for about 10 years until it decided to go up in smoke. So many memories of that machine. Browsing the internet for the first time, playing Diablo 2 (at 800x600!!!) and those games you used to get in the cereal boxes. That really took me back and made me feel good. Keep up the great thrifting!

I go to that Value Village in Greensboro nearly every week! In fact, most of my vintage computer collection has come from that particular store. Such an awesome place. Always cool to see you in my neck of the woods.

I was there New Years Eve and wondered what happened to all the CRTs that had been there forever! Should've known! LOL! But yes, that is where the 5150 came from so that's one of the many reasons I'm there so often in case I find something like that again. Gotten a lot of old Packard Bells there too.
I am so sad that this store has now closed :(

If 10 years ago someone would have said to me that one day I'll enjoy watching this random guy recording his trift finds, I would have.. something unpleasant while laughing my ass off. Today's me just goes Nelson ha-ha on that 10 years ago guy while enjoying this random guy recording his thriftings(it's a word now). Man, you do something right. Also everything else on the channel, keep it up.
I love buying those VHS tapes with pre recorded content on them. Ive got about 200 tapes with TV and home recordings. i really love buying the unlabeled ones because it's a mystery what you find.
If I were you I would record all of them on the computer because what's recorded on them won't last forever.
By the way you mean recorded and not pre recorded right.
VideoTape I convert what I thinks important the coolest thing I've got is MTV 100 top music videos of 1986.

A mic, yes! The wheel on the front controls volume for mic and speakers, too.

Man seeing a new LGR Thrifts video in my feed immediately makes me happy. I also love pausing at every picture at the end with the viewer finds. Too bad stores like this don't really exist where I live, and even if they did I doubt they'll have anything I'm interested in like games and technology.

I think you may have some latency problems plugging your MT32 via USB. But at least you can get it to work on modern computers. Have fun !
For DOS game playback using DOSBox and such, it's quite all right :)
I guess latency isn't too annoying for games. I bought a MIDI to USB interface (a Roland UM One) to use virtual synths with my keyboard and it was really unplayable

Florent Jendrysiak The midi interface is most likely not your problem. Check what sound system you are using, you should go for ASIO or WASAPI. Everything else has too much latency for live play.
If ASIO is not available for your soundcard, check out asio4all.
+BinaryCounter Thanks man. In fact I've been using a Focusrite 2i4 for quite some time now. I just plug my keyboard with a Midi cable, and now latency isn't a problem any more.
I agree with you drivers are a big part of the problem. I use Asio4AllV2 because it manages to give me about 6ms of latency in total. Focusrite proprietary drivers aren't so efficient.

Yeah, maybe it really was your midi cable then. I bought a cheap no name MIDI to USB cable for 5€ off a flea market 8 years ago and it is still excellent. No noticeable latency at all with all 3 keyboards i tried.
If you ever need a really cheap MIDI USB cable, go for the no name one that has a shiny silver cable and a black box in the middle.
I love this Thrifts series so much, every time I get on here and see you uploaded a new one I get so excited. It's great to be able to vicariously thrift without having to drive or spend any money! :P
OMG! I had that EXACT B&W TV when I was a kid! It was the first TV I was ever allowed to have in my room! I remember sneeking it on past my bed time to watch Star Trek reruns that came on after the late night news! Ahhhhh young childhood and sleep deprivation.... lost the childhood, BUT KEPT THE SLEEP DEPRIVATION DAMNIT!!!! Can I switch those things ! PLAESE!!!!

This was actually my picture that I submitted to Clint. I got the lot at a local Mom and Pop thrift shop for a fraction of what it's worth. The lot had just been dropped off and they had no idea what they had. Definitely the best thrift score of my life. And yeah, I have no idea what to do with nine NES controllers...haha.
too bad christmas is over, otherwise you could use them as tree decorations :D
Watching through these made me start checking out places around me. I didn't find much until yesterday, where I saw a Sony dual tape deck that, if it had Dolby S, would be at my apartment already, but then I found in my closest Goodwill, a white Xbox One wireless controller! Complete in box, for a whole $20.
Updated it and now I have a fantastic bluetooth controller for my laptop.
This randomly popped up on my feed. I'm instantly addicted and glad I have 30 other episodes to watch!! You go through the stores the same way I do and I know exactly what you mean by just liking to be able to see old things like this! Visual treats if you will. Can't wait for more videos!

13:47-13:52 I've learned alot from this series about good thrifting. But, that point is one of the most important ones. Sometimes it's good to leave behind cool stuff for someone who is going to appreciate it more then you would. It's like thrifters looking out for one another.

Randomly watching this in the summer, but I'm about ready for a winter LGR Thrift marathon myself. Thrifts just feels like a winter activity to me for some reason, even if the best stuff seems to come out during the spring seasons.

I originally started watching you because of your Sims reviews. I love watching your thrift store finds. The thrift stores in my area are hit or miss (mostly miss) the Goodwill stores were much better in Michigan than here in Texas.
The just perfect low-level elevator muzak in the background is part of the reason I keep being drawn to these vids ...

Oh god, ION TAPE2PC. I used to work in a warehouse for a major online musical fulfillment company that did sales for KMART, Sams Club, Etc. We used to get returns of ION turntables and those TAPE2PC machines BY THE THOUSANDS. At my workstation (I worked in returns), I had toa collection of obscure cassette tapes people would leave in those machines, like strange russian pop compilations, books on tape, etc. I had enough manuals, cables, packaging materials and boxes to try and put back together complete "tested" TAPE2PC and turntables back together again, to resell. Once the whole unit was back in the box, with its appropriate cables and manual, I would take them back up and stack them on pallets, about 10 units high. What complete garb, hah. That was in 2010, I did that for about a year and a half. Just seeing that thing, I immediately remember the flimsy plastic feel of the tape deck doors, the smell of the plastic... I lived with those stupid crappy ION tape decks and turntables every day, 9-5, for so long.
OMG, that birth video is one of the funniest things I've seen at a thrift shop!!
Thats the most clean and orderly GOODWILL store i have ever seen. The ones here in the Bronx New York City look like a junk yard with stuff scattered all over the place and broken merchandise that looks like a bum picked up off the street and the cashier brought out of pity for him.
I would be buying up stuff if i went shopping at the GOODWILL you shop at.
