    Thanks for the vid - I was at my wits end and this helped me a lot. Tried everything I could find from various forums, cold pull didn't work at all, hot-hot kind of worked. Eventually removed the nozzle and pushed out a solid mass that was clogging everything; strange as I only use PLA. Also dismantled the entire hot end and cleaned it out with acetone, brass wire brush and earbuds; look brand new again - re-assembled and everything works perfectly again!

    I swear by Canola oil. 3 yrs ago I would get clogs on a regular basis with my makerbot replicator. I read that canola oil (when use with PLA) can help coat the nozzle and prevent clogging. I has worked great and I'm still using the same nozzle with thousands of print hours. You don't need much. Every time I change filament I rub a small amount on the first 2cm or so of filament and that's it.

    Hey! Thanks for you explanations! I followed you steps but I don't know why I can't screw back the throat. I understood making the mistake at the other extremity that we could slip the screw on the tube but not back due to small metal teeth; So I paid attention but that's a pain to screw, I should maybe cut a piece out of the throat to be able to screw. There is also a small "U" blue piece I don't know what is the function.

    You can order 24 or 26 gauge ecig coil wire (American wire gauge) to use instead of the wire it should have come with. Not 100% sure which size it is but it's one of those. I have 22 and 28 in front of me, 22 is too big and 28 is too small. Just FYI on Amazon it's cheap as hell, look for Master of Clouds (brand I used to use personally when I Vaped)

      @@SANTUBE On a side note, this thing has a memory! So if you turn it off, it will allow you to resume the print! Not sure if it gets unplugged, if it will allow this option so...
      As is with my situation, running out of filament and there being absolutely NO WHERE but the internet, that one might be able to acquire another spool, I can continue with the same print once it arrives! Thanks to you, since that might take a while, if I have any clog issues, I now know how to troubleshoot the scenario in order to get the print completed! Again, THANK YOU so VERY MUCH for taking the time to create this video tutorial, and sharing. Thank You.

    First of all thank you so much. The whole process is very enlightening. Not only for CR-10 but pretty much 90% of bowden setup printers. I have a question though. At The end of the video you suggest that you can clean the nozzle with nail polish removers. I believe it is acetone. As far as I know it does work only for ABS. Can you confirm that indeed this was ABS filament that clogged the nozzle?

    • @SANTUBE
      @SANTUBE  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was not ABS it was pla. I wouldn't recommend it unless its your last choice because it takes a very long time to clean with nail polish.

    Amazon is selling something called "eSUN 3D Printer CLEANING Filament 1.75".
    Pretty good reviews from customers ... Apparently you feed a small amount (10cm or so), every so often as a preventative measure ... Supposed to clean the gunk out of your hot-end so that you don't build up residue ... I've not used it myself, but might invest in some (0.1 Kg for $13 from Amazon).

      two ways, you can manually turn the coupler which the Zrod connects to or you can turn on the power and then go to prepare then move axis and make sure you pick either .01mm or .1mm then pick z axis and turn the knob until it moves up. Don't pick the 10mm because the z axis doesn't show up under 10 for some reason.

      Sorry for late reply. You don't need to unscrew anything to change the nozzle. Just turn up your nozzle temp to about 220-230 then take a wrench that came with the printer and just turn it to loosen. Please be careful though because the nozzle is hot.

    • @SANTUBE
      @SANTUBE  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tyquan Jackson take the tub of from the hot end side. Take the nozzle off but make sure it's hot ( be careful please because it is hot so don't burn or hurt urself). Then cut about a foot of faliment then try to push it in the hot end until it comes out from the bottom. Then put the nozzle back on but try to put on a new one that came with the printer as an extra. Make sure the printer is hot the whole time you do this, and please use caution. The clog mite be in the hot end or nozzle. I can't tell for sure cause I can't see what u have. Good luck

    Wouldn't it be easier to pull the tube out and then just look in there instead of removing the whole fitting?
    I'm just learning about all this stuff. REALLY considering the cr10 printer :) The thing gets rave reviews everywhere and the price seems to be going up every day :(

      NuarStanger yes it would be but it also pulls at the z axis so I was just being cautious

      Your clog mite go pass the nozzle into your bowden tube.

    How did you raise the nozzle up to that height?

    • @SANTUBE
      @SANTUBE  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its in the menu, click on prepare, go to move axis and then pick .1mm then you will see z axis then rise it from there.

      Thats all part of the 3D printing world. Clogs are always happening.

    You're actually making it worse. The filament needs to exit the ptfe tube directly into the metal nozzle. What you're doing is melting PLA around the top of the nozzle. DON'T USE THIS METHOD.

    • @SANTUBE
      @SANTUBE  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can i ask why and if not the cr-10 then which printer are you considering.

    • @briant444
      @briant444 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because it looks like your having a lot of trouble unclogging it when it shouldnt clogg in the first place. I also hate those rinky dinky lcd controllers. I want something with wifi and a web control and a graphic touch screen.

      This video was made a long time ago, now a days its just easier to replace the nozzle. I don't get many clogs on this printer but i did have one when i made the video. With the features your looking for, yes go with a different printer but the features will also increase the cost. Well, Good luck to you.
