Light of Earendil was a stat introduced with the Mordor expansion. It is only for countering Shadow of Mordor effects. Shadow of Mordor effect is to lower Incoming Healing, lower Outgoing Damage, and increase Incoming Damage. Basically, you are more likely to get defeated if you are under Shadow of Mordor effect. While adventuring in Mordor you will run into the Shadow of Mordor effect in different areas with different levels. Initially you can get Light of Earendil from items, mostly quest item rewards. As you gain levels, you will get natural Light of Earendil stat, so that you don't need to keep lower-level equipment just to counteract the Shadow of Mordor effect. That is what Zollin has.
