Whow, this is one of the most beautiful glider video's on TH-cam! When I look at it, it's make my so happy! This is all about modelling my friends and the best hobby there is. Thanks for posting it and hope to see more flights in the future.
'Superb video Andrej. I"ve had my ASW 28 V2 for some time now and it still is one of my favorite gliders. I see you had no issues with the CG since you still have the wheel intact and the pilot inside. Many have had to either remove the wheel well, pilot or both to get a decent CG.
Thank you Jason. I am using two batteries in this glider to achieve the right CG, you can see how my setup looks in this video: th-cam.com/video/NtvDLAcdgRs/w-d-xo.html
Brilliant flight. Thanks for sharing. Just wondered what cam you had on the boom to get such great views ? And finally, you have some wonderful landscape to fly over. Where abouts are you ? Great flying to you 😊
I got the Volantex Phoenix S 1600 after watching your videos, been REALLY enjoying my first soaring and video making experiences with it!!! So now I've ordered this ASW28 2.6! 😊 SPECTACULAR Angle and Video, flying, etc. 👍👍😎
Thanks mate 😃 Volantex has some great planes for the price for sure. The ASW28 doesn't have as good flying characteristics as the P1600, but it looks really great in the air and it's an awesome plane for the price. I've been flying mine for years now and it's still in mint condition.
Hi Mustafa. Many of you guys have asked me this, so I've posted a video to show you how I've attached the camera on this plane. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/O0uiBskGMAE/w-d-xo.html
G.Andrej. Potrebovali bi pomoč pri spajanju sprejemnika in oddajnika. Povežeta se, komande delujejo razen flapov in....motorja. Ne štarta pa če se na popek mečeš. Sprejemnik in oddajnik sta: at9s pro in r9ds. Lahko pomagate?
Now that was some awsome video. Do ya have any "Chase-Cam" video? Im always trying to do that with my quads but theres no where to attach a rod without getting in the way of props, so i just put a go pro on the top, not quite a chase cam but...
Hello and thank you from France for your videos. I just subscribed. I too am a fan of glider videos and I am waiting for my Volantex, I have watched this video a lot ... But I would like to know what is the mounting system that you have built for the camera with this vision so beautiful ... Thanks Andrej !!
Hi Julian. I don't own the ranger unfortunately, so I can't compare. I would say the thickness of the fuselage is optimal, not heavy duty and not to thin either. After years of flying it's still in okay condition.
Great video what camera were you using. I'm about to get one of these planes its such a beautiful glider.as its now at a reduced price. I already have a slope version.
The ASW28 is an amazing value plane, mine still flies just like new with stock servos/motor but I have upgraded the ESC, so I can run 4s lipos safely. It flies well and it's quite nimble, durable and has no bad flying characteristics. The Lentus looks awesome, flies well and it's durable but it's not that nimble. When flying the Lentus, you have to be careful that you don't fly it to slowly as it can suddenly tip stall from which it's hard to recover (no other e-glider that I own has that problem).
Hi Andrej, Could I please ask how the mount is secured and if you are using a counterbalance weight on the opposite wing? I have been considering something similar
Hi Allen, nice to see you again. The two carbon rods are secured on the wing with a clear tape - on the front and rear edge of the wing. I will try to make a video about this in a near fututre ... yes a counterbalance weight (you have to balance the air drag as well) on the opposite wing is a must. You have to pay attention to the flying speed with this setup - don't fly fast or you will lose control of the plane.
Thanks for the heads up on the set up. I have some light weight fibreglass tubing to use and I have glued coreflute tabs to it to spread the load and stop rotation under load.
Hi, I am new to FPV. I see this video was made a couple of years ago, Do you still recommend the same camera or something newer. Also how do you stick your camera on the glider and make sure it doesn't fall, do you add some weight to compensate for that on the other wing. And how do you measure your CG,, should it be a little nose heavy like warbirds? I usually hold the 2 wings from their far end (with help of someone), is there a better way to adjust the Glider CG, also when you add weights, do you usually add the weights to the far end below the elevator or in the other area? It will be nice to make an illustrative video. Finally which beautiful country is this footage ). I have a different type of beauty here, fossil dunes 🤓Thanks .
Hi Bob. I live in Slovenia. In this video you can see how I mount my camera to get this kind of viewing angle: th-cam.com/video/O0uiBskGMAE/w-d-xo.html I still recomment the Runcam 2 camera, it's really an awesome camera for the price.
By timing your motor on/off times, you got a motor run of ~6:15 with your 4s setup. I suspect you were running full throttle for the 1st 2:30 when you made your initial climb to fairly high altitude and that the other motor runs might have been at reduced throttle input? What amp hour rating was your 4s battery pack? Nice camera angle btw!
Hi! I always fly with two lipo packs, in this case I placed 4s 2200 25C Zippy Compact on the top of the wing spar and a 4s 1300 35C nanotech lipo in the regular battery tray. I normally fly with two 2200 25C Zippys with 8 mins of Th% timer on my Taranis, so plenty of flight time.
Does the wind ever come in the right direction towards the ridge you're standing near for some slope flying? Beautiful scenery btw! You live in a beautiful area!!
Andrej, i have startede a facebook group for people that fly Volantex planes, would you be okay with me sharing the link to this video on the new group, and of course feel free to join Volantex flying group, by the way how do you rate the ASW28, not flown one and it looks like it would prefer calm days
Hi Julian. Of course you can share the link to this and all of my other videos that are interesting to you. The ASW28 is a great looking glider, a really good plane considering the price. I like flying with this plane. But this glider is lacking agility - it's not very aerobatic if I compare it to my Multiplex Solius which is very agile and also has better gliding capabilities. But Solius is much more expensive... in short, I am happy that I bought this plane, it serves me very well, I mean for the current price at HK, you can't get better glider at the moment.
ANDREJ, IF YOU DON'T MIND...WHICH OF YOUR MOTORIZED GLIDERS DO YOU LIKE BEST AND WHY. I WATCH SOME VIDEOS AND MOST LIKE THIS GLIDER, SOME MAKE VARIOUS MODIFICATIONS ESPECIALLY IN REGARDS TO THE BATTERY POSITION AND THE CG. WOULD A 40 AMP ESC WORK WITH A 4S BATT? John
The Lanyu ASW28 provides the most bang for the buck! Stock plane on 3s is good, but on 4s is much better, I think that a 40 amp ESC should be enough on a stock propeller. Multiplex Solius is also a very nice and much more agile but it's expensive (the PNF version), more than 2x the price of the ASW and it's not 2x better. You can't go wrong with the ASW28, it's a nice, big, scale glider. Yes, you can do a lot of mods on this plane if you want to make it even better.
This Model ASW 28 has a bad gliding angle. In most foam models the EPO material can´t provide a sharp-ended rear-end of wing, which leads to aerodynamic loss. Foamies like SOLIUS by Multiplex are a good exception.
IN THIS UNUSUAL CAMERA ANGLE THE PLANE IS CONSTANTLY ROCKING BACK AND FORTH. MAKES ME THINK THERE IS A CG ISSUE...IT COULD POSSIBLY BE THE EFFECT OF THE CAMERAS ON THE PLANE.
it is because the wing bends alot in flight on this plane. It is very realistic as the real gliders wings. the fuselage is actually nice and stable, it's the wing camera that moves. not a CG issue. I have this plane. See the other video titled tail and front cam. You can see the front cam moving.
You are not allowed to fly above 400 ft and aircraft are supposed to stay above 1000 ft that gives a 600 foot margin of error for the safety of every one

Nice flying, but that was some rough landing...
Great job on the camera view, enjoyed the video very much.
Hi and thanks for your comment. I like this camera angle as well.
Goodmorning.
The asw28 to good efficiency or does it fly badly on slopes without an engine?

Ну наконец-то, кто-то использовал планер по назначению.
Love to see how you mounted those carbon fiber rods. This rocks!

Andrej may i ask a question, is the ASW fuselage thin like the phoenix or heavy duty like ranger 1600/2000 thank you

I tried to perform some aerobatics but it's difficult with this camera setup.

Thanks! The camera is a RunCam2. The price for this plane on HK is awesome at the moment!
how is it compared to 2400 phoenix from volantex?
I prefer the ASW28 - more nimble and looks better. The P2400 is a better thermal glider though.
@@AndrejSturm thanks, am interesting in thermal gliding. so will look at 2400 or 2000
superb ++
where do you buy this pane? did you make it stronger.???..i see no wing flex at all..
I did not have to reinforce the plane, I just upgraded the stock ESC. I bought it here: bit.ly/2HPbJ1J

how do you balance the camera weight? like attach some weight on the other side
Hi, yes. There was a counter weight on the other side of the wing and also at the plane's tail. The glider was perfectly balanced.
Beautiful scenery! Where were you flying? Thanks!
Hi, thank you. I live in Slovenia 🇸🇮
How on earth did you see it at that height?
this looks like the best camera angle to have on a rc, down and back and to the side, foward facing sucks as all you see is the sky.
Super
Can u tell me how to instal/make that camera mount. I want to make one for my asw28.
Hi, I've made a video on how to instal the camera to get this view:
th-cam.com/video/O0uiBskGMAE/w-d-xo.html

Wow what a great video! May I ask how you got the propeller to stop spinning?
The electronic speed controller has a brake, so when you turn off the motor the brake gets activated.
Andrej Sturm thanks!
How did u go so high without losing signal?
The RC link should be solid to about 1,5km away and this was ''just'' about 400 - 500m in altitude, so I was still in a safe zone.
How the heck did you film this?? incredible!
