I think the question about which seat takes SL greatly depends on the engagement ranges, so the type of vehicle and the map you're playing. On one extreme, if it's an IFV on an infantry heavy map with lots of cqb, woods and tight alleys, I SL from the driver seat 10/10 times. You will be constantly confronted with split second decisions where you can't afford the delay between *your* brain and *the drivers* hands. So frequently in fact, that I don't even have a conscious game plan for the majority of the match, but just go with the flow and make the moves that keep the vic alive while dealing maximum damage to the enemy team. The other extreme would be playing MBT on something like Talil where I prefer to SL from the command seat. I couldn't make the right call if I didn't have the zoom to see what kind of terrain the enemy tank is in and what other threats are getting their ATGMs ready for a 3rd party kill, 2km to my left. Also the driver has a lot more time to get things right. On a side-note, I main armor with randoms, so that definitely changes things up as I can't always rely on good callouts or skill in general. For playing with friends I like your approach. Everybody does his job and when somebody has something important to say, you trust and do, regardless of the squad role.
Great video for me since im trying to learn how to play vehicles and its a slow grind to go from completely useless to somewhat decent lmao i really appreciate any knowledge from more experienced players.
About the queation of the "what seat does the SL take". Its a no brainer but sadly most of the players have the wrong answers because they do have points. But at the same time they dont have all the correct responses. Its the commander seat, as a team you have to spread the jobs thru all the seats. One is focused on the map and driving, one is focused on map, and shooting. The other is listening on command chat, looking at the map and plannin a strategy. You divide the jobs and work together to be more efficient together. Those that think the driver or the gunner are to be used by the sl are just players that Want to take in the important seats to cause more impact, but end up inefficient because they overwork their brains doing multiple jobs. I dont have Many hours on this game, but by experience gained ive seen that being the sl on commander seat gives you room to breathe as sl and allows you to give better coms. Which as SL Is you job
Good points! If I have a third in an IFV / APC with no RWS, they are usually running utility (which I'll get into in later videos). A pocket-LAT is extremely useful since they can have any kit (and switch to any kit). Far more useful to me than a permanent SL crewman. They can jump out to dump on extra damage to our target mid-fight, they can jump out to help repair other vehicles, dig radios, etc, etc... while my vehicle continues doing what it does with no disruption. If they are in an MBT with an RWS of some sort, I personally prefer them focused on scanning for A/T infantry threats to my tank and scanning for vehicles non-stop rather than worrying about the coordination of the repair station build or relaying intelligence between squads. But I have crewed in plenty of vehicles where the gunner or command seat was the SL and they handled it just fine. I can theory-craft all day, but they showed through example they handled it just as well as if the driver had done it.
Great series, this is pure gold. I used to drive on the regular for some eerily competent crew (shout out to Sparks), I'm out of practice for sure. Any recommendation for servers?
I float around a ton. Don't regularly play on any one server. Bacon Eggs N Tanks is good. Riplomacy. Squadops has some talented guys, but pretty elitist. Float around. You'll find some. I've seen 1stRB go pub stomp and I think I've seen them ghost on their servers with admin cam once or twice. They're nice but they can be shady in my experience.
hey AirGibson, wanted to ask if i could pick your head a bit about how to approach teaching IFV related stuff. been recently put in charge for it with my group and would love a second pair of eyes. let me know if you'd have time to connect - cheers
It is an old bug reintroduced in the latest patch. Be sure you have the "stuck" ammo selected, then switch seats, and switch back and reload again. That should fix it for you. It happens if you try to switch weapons in the middle of a reload. Avoid switching while reloading and it won't happen.

When ODM's server is seeded, it is good. I float around on quite a few.

How do I get on your squad? I see so many 2 man tank squads that run right into danger and get wiped repeatedly.
this is some good shit
Guys, have you noticed tanks not being able to reload shells? Is that a recent bug or a weird mechanic?

17:20 it should be MINIMIZE, right?
Yeah, I am thinking more about "maximize your effectiveness". But yes, "minimize ttk" is what I should say instead.
