Every once in a while, I remember Jeff and the uniquely beautiful art he used to share with us. It’s so, so sad that he left us so early. He was a real one and there will never again be anything like the music the left us with.

I saw Jeff Austin dropping off packages for UPS in Iowa, I saw Jeff Austin picking bush berries with his wife and kids on some random little country road. They waved. This was two summers ago.
Listening today and remembering Jeff. One of the great performers of all time. This was one of many yonder shows i attended. Love that i can look back at this a remember it all. Jeff calling Umphreys the "greatest bluegrass band of all time" still gets me to laugh and smile Umphreys being another band ive grow up watching over the decades].

My Grama died today at 99, and I turned to Yonder because they make me happy, especially Jeff, his stage presence was like no other, I've seen them from Jax Beach to Bonnaroo to little venue in Milwaukee. Reading about Jeff's passing is rough, but I'll always remember the fun times that OG YMSB brought me.
Just found this. Shooting a set from the rail takes a while lot of concentration and patience which is incredibly hard to do when everyone around you is raging and ecstatic. Well done !!! And a forever many thanks. As a previous comment said , I am still not over Jeffs departure . RIP
Jeff was such an amazing influence on bluegrass and I loved his singing style and how he was so gracious to the crowd and his band members or any guest players with them. YMSB you guys gave us so many great times! It's such a pity You guys couldn't work out whatever differences you had to stay together and evolve together. It was great while it lasted! Saw you up in steamboat this year with Ben as the lead / frontman/MC at an all family event and it makes me happy to see how far you guys have come for so long!

Good thing the audio sounds great and I've been listening from the next room over because the video is some of the worst neglect for the guitarist ever demonstrated. Every time I get up to watch an Adam solo, it's as if the cameraman is oblivious who is on point.

For sure. Jeff, in my time, was one of the few bluegrass musicians Id actually get lost in. Now BMFS is taking bluegrass mainstream. Never saw that coming. First lineup of JAB was the shit. Him and Barnes made a great team imho. We used to laugh about how Jeff invented the "mandolin power stance." And yes he liked to party, hard. But I mean if you even just a casual fan of the jam band scene chances are you've been spun before. Its definitely in no way a necessity and Ive enjoyed plenty of shows with JUST bud. Improvised rock has a special ability to get the listener high off music alone, if they doing it right anyway. Not necessarily stoned but...beautiful🎶
His energy and verve and passion still come through on recordings that were made live off on the side of the stage everyday years later. Jeff really had something special, and gave it all whenever he performed. He improvised and they had a lot of flourish and could carry a whole room full of people wherever he was going no matter if he was sober or not.
The lineup they’ve got going on now is a far cry from anything resembling this. The allure was Jeff’s energy, not his clean arpeggios and technical approach. The man bun and now the country music star are just horrendous-it’s like watching polished, cancelled spin-offs. It’s just bad
