    What a great/cheap solution. My griddle has been living in the garage due to how much the wind affects the burners. Now I can move it to its proper place, on the deck! Thanks for sharing this!!

      Thank you, I never take them off! And with the Pro Series the shelves are a bit higher so it also blocks the heat! No more melted bottles or too hot to handle trays! They may not look the best, but they sure do the job!

    Wow Kevin- what a differential of temperature with the shield you made and without. 80F or so degrees with the guard you made and over 160 F without it. No wonder you can burn your hands from just picking out that half sheet pan.
    That was a good hack. If I could give you two thumbs I would to counteract the Jealous persons that gave the two down ones.
    I don't care what anyone says that is a great hack to do the job of deflecting the heat for a low cost. 👊27

      Hey, thank you so much! Yeah, that heat on the side shelves is ridiculous for sure, and that cheap hack works great! Sometimes the simplest of things make a huge difference! And it beats paying over $30 for something that has the same end results :)

    Great tip Kevin! I wish I would have done this instead of purchasing the ones I have. The heat sure does come out the sides. I purchased a set of heat/wind deflectors for mine (non-Blackstone brand set of 4) for about 20+ dollars and they sure help in keeping the items you put on the side trays from getting hot...or melting...which hasn't happened yet but got close...If I had it to do all over again or if I need to replace them I would go the route you did and use the heavy aluminum pan...Thanks for sharing and have a great week!

  • @CharlesLScofieldJr

    That is a great idea, I had bought the Blackstone wind guards for a 28" griddle. But I have the 28" Rangetop Combo, they work OK as long as you don't lower the hood down. There is not enough clearance between the hood and the griddle sides because of the thickness of the guards. But after seeing your idea, I have some sheet aluminum that was leftover from having the soffits on my house done. I will have to go to my local Ace hardware and get a pair of tin snips. I think I will use cardboard to create my pattern first and then transfer it to the sheet of aluminum.

    • @Mankitchenrecipes
      @Mankitchenrecipes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome, that should work great! Just be sure to use some sand paper of something for the edges... like I needed to tell you that! I've been using these for awhile and not only do they block the wind, but they also block the heat from melting stuff that you set on the side shelf! I hope yours turn out great and thanks for checking this out!

    • @CharlesLScofieldJr
      @CharlesLScofieldJr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mankitchenrecipes I agree about the shelves getting very hot. I made the mistake of using my tongues that were meant for my 17" E-Series Blackstone and set them down on the shelf and the heat burned one side of them. After that, I got some el cheapo metal tongues strictly for the 28" Rangetop Combo. I guess I should break down and get a good set of Blackstone's tongues.
