I was looking at a soft retirement (doing my current job in Taiwan to make a transition toward retiring there). What I see is for the same role in Taiwan I would be paid from 1/3 to 1/2 of what I earn in a U.S. LOW cost of living area. So for people who work in Taiwan as professionals even for a foreign company, they will not be saving much money for when they move back to their home country. For people who invest in stocks as part of their savings, this makes things worse because the price of a share of stock is not adjusted to be less for someone earning Taiwan salary which means you can buy several times more stock if you earn money elsewhere to grow your savings more. I don't know the solution for this; maybe tax breaks to companies so they can lift the salaries to more closely match what they would earn overseas.

Long working hours less vacation hours and low pay in local companies compare to USA, not ideal for whom has high salaries pay in US to work in Taiwan.

It really depends on your sector. Also, people that come to most Asian countries dont come for long vacation hours anyway.
Taiwan is very much a developing country in a lot of sectors, which more often than not means longer hours but more opportunity for advancement than places where the structure is more entrenched.

Don't be. If you don't like Asian food, you have Western fast food. Lots of great choices for everyone. I've been to lots of places, and if you have a chance, you should give it a try. With the CCP acting like it is, your time to experience this place might be limited. @@hazelho8144

      Bad food is not accurate.
But boring food is true, I am a Singaporean, the food variety ee have in sgp is like tons to choose.. Taiwan ...not much excellent foreign food.
Winnie the Pooh can't come here, don't you worry. He has no balls. 😊😊😊😊😊

meh, half the actual population of taiwan isnt willing/forced to defend it and thinks it should have all the rights and none of the duties. oh and they dont do their traditional role either, whats the fertility rate like 1 lol, obviously they dont feel the situation is that serious...
