Loved watching him play for Wigan, his pace and elusive runs, read the game so well creating tries for others. Master of the interception!!!!

I love Brett Kenny. Most of his career was before my life and as a Queenslander I definitely know more about Sir Walter Lewis the great. But all you have to do is hear the likes of Greg Dowling talk about how Queensland grew 3ft and 4 stone in stature when the blues left Bret out or moved him to centre. Team mates tend to talk you up. But when an adversary says you can walk on water, you just might be Jesus.

I feel the exact same way as a QLDer too. Seeing B.Kenny play for Australia really showcased what a talent he was. I think they need to include more Immortals, and Kenny should be in there. I think Laurie Daley was the evolution of Kenny, i.e. a running 5/8.

Look, I know you QLD'ers love Wally, but opinions are like arseholes.... everyone's got one. And mine is that Kenny was equal to, or if not, better than the "King". There's Comments on here about Brett Kenny should be on the list of "Immortals". I totally agree!!!!

Kenny should be an Immortal. Before you think wtf am I on, have a look. He was the very best in his time. Even kept King Wally Lewis on the bench for the '82 tour and Mal Meninga for the '86. And both of them are immortals.

@@gattingbowledwarne They had a huge amount of respect for each other and are apparently mates. Wally was the better organiser, kicker and leader of men. Bert had the edge as a running threat - the GOAT in fact. They were both magnificent passers of the ball. The 86 Roo midfield with the two of them, plus Sterlo inside and Geno out, and Schnoz outside him, was the best ever fielded.

So lucky to have had Brett Kenny at Wigan for that 84/85 season and of course, one of the greatest games of league ever, the Wembley final. He won the Lance Todd but shout outs to Sterlo who played for Hull that day, and John Ferguson and Henderson Gill the Wigan wingers.
The following season Wigan signed Kenny's team mate Steve Ella, another top player, not quite Kenny's standard but a great player nonetheless.

BK is my all time favourite player of 50yrs, but outside his amazing brilliance in attack, for mine he was one of the best defensive centres 5/8ths in all those years too, his defence on the england tours was amazing....you never see him get run around, beaten, bumped off...nothing, he never let a try in....not bad for not such a big man either

After reading your comment i did the research into Brett's career and found that he played approxx 219 games in that 6 year period from 1981 to 1986 .
      He played
134 First Grade games ( including Semis/ Grand Finals )
      3 City 1sts V Country
      14 State of Origins
      15 Test matches
      13 Matches V local sides on 2 Kangaroo tours (1982 & 1986 )
25 Matches for Wigan in the 84/85 season
P.S I have not included Mid week games or Pre season matches .

    My Childhood Hero 💙💛
Loved Sterlo , Grothe , Ella , Price and Cronin but Bert was always my Favourite.
I think 4 of those players should be Immortals and decades ago.
I mean there's no way they're not gonna put Smith, Slater , Inglis and Cronk in because they all played in the same Team.
Of course they'll be Immortals well 3 of them anyway and they should be.
At the same time so should Kenny, Sterlo,Price and Cronin
