    I had the exact opposite problem of your first experience with my Cummins with 15;000km on the truck. DEF level indicator was showing 1/3 tank and it was empty....wife and I almost missed out on a $1600 weekend sled clinic and $500 hotel in Fernie. Counting down to limp mode and had to go to 4 dealers before receiving help. Luckily it happened near Calgary (5 hours from home) where there's lots of dealer options. I rarely drive the truck and in summer had mostly only driven it with a trailer. I did actually note the "low" DEF usage, but dismissed it as my perception was that the needle was still moving down slowly, and I simply attributed less DEF usage to not towing lol.

      Crazy that manufacturers get away with selling trucks with such garbage electronics in them.

    • @Fatonzzz
      @Fatonzzz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BanackIndustries Yes! Also, if a level gauge failure can disable the vehicle, then why isn't the system built with redundancy with TWO level gauges and/or a computer smart enough to recognize a discrepancy between DEF usage and tank level?!?? The industry I work in has redundancy on nearly all instrumentation of importance. So stupid that the vehicle industry accepts this. But I guess so long as we the customers buy it.....
      Anyway the turd went back into the dealer a few days ago with a stuck level gauge. This time it was a broken off wire apparently. The dealer seemed to somewhat imply that I am at fault because my vehicle sits outside. They also seemed to point the finger due to the overfilled DEF tank. Well it was only overfilled during troubleshooting (which they actually acknowledged) and overfilling is not something I am in the habit of lol. I'm so sorry that this truck built for commercial/industrial work in extreme conditions is such a delicate flower 😂
      Anyway I didn't have the heart to tell those guys that instead of deleting the Cummins, my solution is that I have a 2022 F-350 7.3L gas on pre-order 😂

I have to add def. Been in contact with Ford, but they have no idea what the problem is. I’ve been thinking of deleting it, but unsure of flashing the ecm. What are your thoughts now after doing it? • @BanackIndustries
      @BanackIndustries  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Myself I'm alot more comfortable with having it deleted, takes a lot of stress of the engine and will help it last longer. Exhaust Back pressure and crank case pressure is a know killer to these engines, usually blowing out the front structure seals and its a big job, trans comes out, oilpan has to be dropped just to remove the front cover.
      As for warranty it all depends on the your ford dealer. Most of the time you won't loose all warranty and if you have a low power delete tune they usually will help you.
      The only issue I have had since the delete, was one of the emissions module plugs got wet (wasn't taped up good enough) and it had a tcm fault, but cleaned the plug and re taped it and it's been good since

      I do not yet have a aftermarket egt probe hooked up yet, but most egr delete kits have a tread in the exhaust manifold block off plate for the egr, which is a good spot, otherwise you could install a probe on the down pipe after the turbo
      Temperatures will very depending on probe placement, at the manifold its likely to see up to 1500°f for short periods under full boost, safe range is usally under 1350°F
      For more precise temperature ranges contact the tuning company you used, or contact AM Diesel Performance and im sure they will give you info about there custom tunes and what temps they have tuned for.
      I trust AM Diesel Performance as they have been in the business for a long time and do a amazing job with there tunes, I trust there tuning and thats why i haven't felt it necessary to add a egr probe yet.
      I hope this helped you out, thank you for the comment and supporting the channel.

      @@BanackIndustries I really want to add an aftermarket EGT probe to my new 21 while it's all stock to see what real egts are on a stock truck. But without the delete plates not sure where to I stall the probe for true reads.
      I've been able to play around with a couple stock trucks with EGT probes and I've been extremely surprised at just how hot they get in stock forum. One would think that with a stock truck you wouldn't have anything to worry about.
      Seems to me a guy might have more to worry about on a stock truck. Although maybe we're all way too worried about EGTS and trucks can handle a lot hotter temperatures than what we think.

You might have to pull the ecu and send it to Canada for the tuning, or buy a ecu with a tune and just swap it out. But that could be pricey
