Tim, great review thanks. I think the size of this car would clear the footpath nicely to allow the school kids to bail out as close to the school gate as possible; so worth looking at as an Audi/Mercedes/Range Rover/Challenger 2 alternative. I agree the Knob is nice also.
Hi Tim, after watching your reviews on the XC90 and Touareg I've learnt the Volvo XC90 with third row down is 775L and the VW Touareg is 810L? would never have guessed the VW Touareg has the larger boot capacity...
I find charging it saves about 50% of petrol costs - so it's best for people who can and will charge it. Obvs their usage needs to match the benefits of a PHEV otherwise the T6 or diesels should be better (unlessnyou want 450+ hp which I have to say is a lot of fun).
The car shrinks around you a LOT after about a week of daily use. It feels no different to me than my previous Octavia estate, which is mad. Parking with 360 is a piece of piss too. Tight turns into a multistorey car park are about the only piece you might not quite fit into. Sometimes your tyres have to smoosh against the pavement to avoid dinging a rear quarter.
Gasoline engine is the biggest problem with this. It uses like 10.9/100km on highway when 2.5l Toyota NA uses only 6.8l/100km in bigger Highlander. Rest of the car is good or OK. Reliability could be better. Still one of the best big hybrids available.
Hope volvo already rectified problem throughout years of production to become high reability suv. Yeah, agreed this one of the perfect suv for family with high safety specifications. I'm plan to get one this year...
Another entertaining morning for me Tim. Please review the Skoda Kodiaq what we call the 7 seater Style with all the kit. I’d be interested to know what you think. Optioned with a 2 litre petrol 132kW 320Nm engine. It might be called the SEL with all the options ticked in your market. We get 2 “packs” here in Australia so don’t have the list of options except for a sunroof and choice of colour. Did you catch the cricket?😂😂😂😂😂😂 Lloyd
It only rained in the 4th test. I do love my Kodiaq, but its too big now and its only a year old. If you check it against a Q7, in Australia, its only a few litres smaller inside, but so much smaller outside at 4697 mm long. It’s the same length as the new Octavia! It’s only a year old as I was using it as my mobile detailing van and long haul holiday cruiser which it is brilliant for both by the way. 7l/100km cruising at 110km/h on our freeway north of Sydney, I feel, is fantastic compared to the Mazda CX-5 GT Turbo it replaced. I think its the sweet spot for 7 seater SUVs here in Oz. I found a dealer with brilliant after sale service and bought it with a BlackVue twin dash cam and the Skoda electric towbar, 7 year warranty, 7 year prepaid service and 7 year roadside assist for far less than any comparable 7 seater. Drive it, you’ll like it. (Now there’s a good car company catch phrase!!)
@@DontPanicDear wrong. But the location of the car is not the only thing. Seems you better educate yourself a little. Recommendation: watch the last three years worth of videos on Rob Braxman tech.
volvo is not more than chinese junk , i have 2022 electric volvo , change battery under waranty new in the box ( MADE IN CHINA ) , and now electric motor noisy , dealer order new one in the box ( MADE IN CHINA ) , why i pay for volvo and i get a CHINESE JUNK ??? next time i will buy a Geely , same car at half price
I hate the XC90 and the Q7 and other monster SUVs that never do any offroading. It's the car industry clogging up roads and car parks because they want higher margins. If you really need 7 seats do everyone a favour and buy VW Touran. You'll save money and people won't hate you.
VW Touran is hideous, maybe other people won't hate you but your own kids will for forcing them to be seen in one. Clogging up parks? I bet you that on every marked park slot you can fit a mini copper or a Range Rover, car park slots are the same size , it makes no difference
Hope Volvo continue making XC90 for a couple of more years, improving and updating. There is a market for both full EVs and hybrids.
Been around soo long but still soo gorgeous
Isn't it just?
Good review, thank you, but a Karmon Hardon sound system? Does it turn on if you pull the crystal knob? :D

Totally agree - it's intimidating at first, but after 30 mins it's easy peasy. Wouldn't fancy one without the 360 cameras though!

Touren is a useless 7 seater ! You’ll need a Toureg and then where is the difference. Well VW quality is not that good.
