Every combo can be cancelled into either the parry, or the dodge, or a special attack. You can dodge and parry in the air if you buy the special moves in the upgrade shop, which you can access at any time in the pause menu. The Block is easy to do, if you time it right, it becomes a Parry instead. The dodge is harder to do, but allows you to continue your combos without interrupting them. Time it right, and you can keep attacking. I never really liked the DMC games either, but I really liked this one. I liked Bayonetta too.

***** This is Metal Gear though I never played any of the Metal Gear games, but aren't they about stealth and this game seems to have no stealth. DMC was always a hack and slash and that is what the reboot was a Hack and Slash game like it always has been. It may have changed how the characters looked and such, but at least it kept the basic idea.
***** While a good bit of MGR is tongue-in-cheek there are underlying bits of seriousness if you're actually looking for it. Deadpool was, literally, nothing but a comedic approach to a game. It was a game that was made to be taken as comedy. MGR is to be taken as an action game, predominantly...which it does.
***** That's the point though. There is a plot there. Deadpool had no plot and was strictly comedic. The "plot" of Deadpool could have easily been swapped out for a different "plot" and still would have been perfectly fine. Without the "conspiracy" plot and it's ability to weave in with the ridiculousness and the action, MGS would fall flat on its face. It's plot is what makes the game. Deadpool is good because it lacks a plot.

When I played metal gear 2 I was the only one in my class of friends who liked raiden and this excited the crap outta me and I was right to be I loved it
I feel like spin offs like this game get a bad rap because fans of the series don’t get what they expected. They see the name “Metal Gear” and expect a stealth game but instead get a fast paced hack and slash. So because it’s not what they expected they don’t give it a chance and write it off as a bad game. I have a friend that did this with Hyrule Warriors. He saw the name Hyrule Warriors and thought it would be a Zelda game, but didn’t like it because it ended up being a spin off with Dynasty Warriors gameplay. It’s not a fair way to assess games, but at the same time I think it’d be better to come up with new characters and a new story instead of making a spin off set in the universe of a different franchise. Maybe then people might say “what’s that?” And do their research so they know what to expect and give it a fair chance.
So, is it a rule or something that you can either like Devil May Cry or Metal Gear Rising but not both? Because nobody seems to be able to be good at/like both games. They're always good at the one game and just hate on the other one, because I actually had fun with Metal Gear Rising. Sure, the level design is nothing special, but the boss fights are actually really fun. If you can figure out the controls, at least... Man, it'd be funny to watch Nerd3 try and fight Monsoon xD

They actually did, in the opening cutscene, he sounds alot more like he should. It's just whenever he talks to the big bads, he tries being batman. (The comic book character, not the haunted teddy bear from Dan's Sims 3 month.)
This was actually a really fun game with an interesting take on MG lore for me. It felt like a solid beat-'em-up/hack-and-slash once you discovered how the combat system works. Guess I am an idiot though.
For all who sick as at this game, and block is when you just attempt to parry too early, and the attack is blocked, and counter attack is when you perfectly pull a parry while the enemy is just about to hit you. In Revengance that is basically gonna keepyou alive

If you want to see people actually know what they're talking about, and be vaguely competent, I recommend the Super Best Friends Play playthrough. Dan really just doesn't know what he's talking about. This game is phenomenal.

Well yeah, if you're attacking and an enemy attacks you can't do anything about it. That's a bad combat system. A parry should be a seperate button that overrides attacking.
I remember mistral from metal gear soild.snake told her to get somewhere safe and then she went to where snake was and she never died..well she did single handedly stirped a guard and toke his clothes while snake was watching a guy die from a heart attack in the other cell
I don't like Dans comedy in this video. He nitpicks about a game that isn't supposed to be taken seriously. As for the combat, parry systems aren't for everyone, and I honestly enjoyed it quite a lot. There's a lot wrong with the game, but I don't think it's necessarily worth throwing your controller down in defiance. Every other game he has made fun of deserved it. Except for this one.

Suck horribly at the game = it is a bad game. Can't time parries correctly = parry system is broken. Furthermore, rejecting it as a Metal Gear game is missing all the things that make it exactly a Metal Gear game, most notably that Raiden, in all his superpowered glory (as very much demonstrated in MGS4), should not play anything like Snake, or like he did in MGS2 (aka "like Snake"). Just, ugh! It's also quite funny, considering this is a fantastic game which was made by the creator of Devil May Cry (the good one). Sadness. But it wouldn't be the first time that Nerd completely pans a perfectly good title for little actual reason.
Doktor couldn't make an eye in time so he gave Raiden this "eyepatch". It's actually millions of tiny lenses (technology that isn't developed yet to put in an eye). Everything about the game is explained in the codec conversations.

Boberther I played Metal Gear Rising for like.. 25+ hours. It isn't that much but it is still good. By the way it does have NG+ content which is the harder modes. "Normal" mode is just to let you get the hang of control's the real shit begins after finishing it once.

Also he didn't know how to do most things at the start. But once you get a few upgrades, learn to parry and find out that you get awesome stuff after killing people and so forth. It’s not a fair way to assess games, but at the same time I think it’d be better to come up with new characters and a new story instead of making a spin off set in the universe of a different franchise. Maybe then people might say “what’s that?” And do their research so they know what to expect and give it a fair chance.

So, is it a rule or something that you can either like Devil May Cry or Metal Gear Rising but not both? Because nobody seems to be able to be good at/like both games. They're always good at the one game and just hate on the other one, because I actually had fun with Metal Gear Rising. Sure, the level design is nothing special, but the boss fights are actually really fun. If you can figure out the controls, at least...

They actually did, in the opening cutscene, he sounds alot more like he should. It's just whenever he talks to the big bads, he tries being batman. (The comic book character, not the haunted teddy bear from Dan's Sims 3 month.)

This was actually a really fun game with an interesting take on MG lore for me. It felt like a solid beat-'em-up/hack-and-slash once you discovered how the combat system works. Guess I am an idiot though.
For all who sick as at this game, and block is when you just attempt to parry too early, and the attack is blocked, and counter attack is when you perfectly pull a parry while the enemy is just about to hit you. In Revengance that is basically gonna keepyou alive

If you want to see people actually know what they're talking about, and be vaguely competent, I recommend the Super Best Friends Play playthrough. Dan really just doesn't know what he's talking about. This game is phenomenal.
ive played through this game 5 times and beaten it on every difficulty except for revengeance. i love the soundtrack and over the top action

The flame blade is a bit impractical. It would cauterize the wound, stopping the opponent from bleeding out. Cool, but impractical.

Well yeah, if you're attacking and an enemy attacks you can't do anything about it. That's a bad combat system. A parry should be a seperate button that overrides attacking.
I remember mistral from metal gear soild.snake told her to get somewhere safe and then she went to where snake was and she never died..well she did single handedly stirped a guard and toke his clothes while snake was watching a guy die from a heart attack in the other cell
When people claim that a game is easy they usually dont get wrecked through the entire game.
I don't like Dans comedy in this video. He nitpicks about a game that isn't supposed to be taken seriously. As for the combat, parry systems aren't for everyone, and I honestly enjoyed it quite a lot. There's a lot wrong with the game, but I don't think it's necessarily worth throwing your controller down in defiance. Every other game he has made fun of deserved it. Except for this one.

You can slice up any enemy some have armor you have to break first but then you can slice em up to your hearts content.

Suck horribly at the game = it is a bad game. Can't time parries correctly = parry system is broken. Furthermore, rejecting it as a Metal Gear game is missing all the things that make it exactly a Metal Gear game, most notably that Raiden, in all his superpowered glory (as very much demonstrated in MGS4), should not play anything like Snake, or like he did in MGS2 (aka "like Snake"). Just, ugh! It's also quite funny, considering this is a fantastic game which was made by the creator of Devil May Cry (the good one). Sadness. But it wouldn't be the first time that Nerd completely pans a perfectly good title for little actual reason.

Boberther I played Metal Gear Rising for like.. 25+ hours. It isn't that much but it is still good. By the way it does have NG+ content which is the harder modes. "Normal" mode is just to let you get the hang of control's the real shit begins after finishing it once.

Also he didn't know how to do most things at the start. But once you get a few upgrades, learn to parry and find out that you get awesome stuff after killing people and so forth. It's brilliant, although to be fair when I first played this game, it was pretty much like nerds. Except I had a lot of fun because I worked out how to play when fighting the french women.

13:30 i don't think solid lost either of his eyes. The eye patch is called The Solid eye and he isn't wearing it because he lost his eye. On a side note, I think Dan is one of those people that doesn't understand the separation of metal gear. There is Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Ac!d, Metal Gear Online, and now Metal Gear Rising. They all exist in the Metal Gear universe but are all different.
