Actually seeing Paris Hilton's documentary "This is Paris" completely changed my mind about her. She is actually a very smart woman and the things she's been through made her a very strong woman. You guys should see it.

I'm not a fan of Paris Hilton but I do have respect for her. She is smart, but she had to play a character and it became her image. What you see isn't always what you get. From what I understand in her documentary she's tried to distance herself from that but after being that way for so long it is hard to break that and change how people see you. Honestly, I think Paris was done dirty.

She’s not saying she’s not like other girls. She’s saying every girl is special and unique so they shouldn’t dumb themselves down and hide their true unique selves just to attract the attention of men. Hence the Paris Hilton story. She knows Paris is smart, that’s why she’s annoyed that Paris used to dumb herself down instead of showing the world how smart she is. I think the video could uplift traditional feminine qualities more, but other than that I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it.
She made entire videos completely ridiculing these women. She made fun of them any chance she could get, rather overt or backhanded. If she has such a problem with them, go after the patriarchy that made them feel that way, not each other.

And ridicule feels like way too strong a word, but if she’s ridiculing anything it’s the way these women act, not the women themselves. Baby if I act like that. I’d consider it more a tough love approach. She’s annoyed because she knows these women are ridiculing themselves by acting the way they act. It’s not their fault the patriarchy exists obviously, but whilst you’re trying to fight patriarchy there’s no harm making sure you don’t give it more power by playing into it

@@carlin-yeah but how the media portrays them is the media’s fault - not the girls. at that point, why not just write a song about how awful the media is/how they make girls feel about themselves and focus on that instead of focusing on women specifically ? women aren’t the only ones at fault, men created the sexist standards we have today and still perpetuate them. why not write a song about the actual patriarchy and the root problem, instead of blaming girls for falling into a trap that wouldn’t even exist if the sexist patriarchy and societal standards for beauty weren’t a thing to begin with? All I’m saying is there is a WAY better way to go about getting this message across… calling girls “stupid” and doing parodies of existing women does not age well. She could have pointed out societal standards/stereotypes without also insulting their intelligence and implying it’s all their fault when actually the patriarchy/media is the root problem here.

I think Pink would be surprised at how many people did not get the point, it wasn't just her. A lot of people don't get what songs really mean and people always have different interpretations of the songs. So it doesn't surprise me that Paris would approach it that way. Also, tone is everything, so to be honest Paris could have even meant it in a "just wanna make sure we're on the same level and we both know I'm playing dumb."
Wasn't Paris NINETEEN when that video came out.. And had no control over it. Pink is a bully. She wasn't being a stupid girl, she was barely of legal age and naive / vulnerable and trusting of her older groomer / partner. Pink has always seemed bitter and that " I'm not like the other girls" vibe is so played out. Don't be mad at young women, be mad at societal pressure.
Paris was in her mid-to-late-20s when that video came out. So at that point she’s not a child and Pink was calling out her and others ‘pretending to be dumb’ to gain approval - which is very stupid.

I dunno, I think knocking other women is kinda petty. I like some of her music and I'm not denying her talent but she seems kinda like the type of person who would crucify you just for wearing make up or a short skirt lol.
