Leo pulling out Joker against you in bracket is literally the equivalent of a secret final boss that you can fight after you beat the game
Leo's Joker is like a super boss imo, akin to Lingering Will in KH2FM.

Leo’s Joker is his most stylish character he plays. I’m glad he pulled out Joker again
It's actually crazy, no one is questioning Mkleo skill anymore when Joker first came out and he started winning tourneys with it, everyone putting him in Top Tier.
Omega and Naitosharp has been practicing Joker longer since Mkleo dropped him, but they still aren't moving as fast as Mkleo does.
Now Mkleo picks up his joker again and he is schmoving faster than they could playing him all day everyday.
Even after the Arsene and gun range nerfs, it doesn't matter.
Mkleo is just THAT good.
I think his byleth, for the movement byleth is giving him, looks very smooth

@@Scythra I think Joker is top tier, but not enough to undo how much skill he takes. Leo's Joker is just pure skill, though. Terrifying how he took two stocks off another top player in the world *without using Arsene.*
If Leo's motivation was purely to win, he would've probably stuck with Joker forever. He only changed characters because he wanted to have fun as well, which is legit. It's not like it stopped him from winning.

Yup, he wanted to try out his other characters in tournament and has still garnered around the same succes. As we saw with his ROB, any character he puts in the practice with, he might eventually use them in tournament and can actually win with them.

I'm not positive about that, Leo just didn't like to play Joker anymore as he is a mentally exhausting character to main like Sheik is and his competition just became better as well (ignoring Marss and kinda Tweek too). Dabuz and especially Proto literally forced Leo to re-main Joker back as he had no clear answer against Min Min
I disagree. Joker isn't that kind of character. Don't get me wrong, played to his best, Joker is virtually unbeatable. Problem is, playing Joker at his best is mentally exhausting and mechanically demanding. It is not easy to play Joker to his top potential game after game. It is SO much easier to do for Byleth. Even Pythra as they're much simpler characters.
Joker is amazing and has tools to deal with almost everything. Problem is, he doesn't have a game style to deal with almost everything. There's a great video on why top tier Joker solo mains are basically unheard of so this isn't my god-level analytics or anything. And to paraphrase, there are gonna be games or playstyles where the Joker just doesn't have a good flowchart of x-y-z. The guy shows games where Leo is trying stuff and it just isn't working and he can't seem to figure out why or what to do. And you often have to work pretty hard to get your kills as Joker, and when he's in those positions you can see him struggle
It was because of COVID and the online tourney era. Joker is very different online. He loses the ability to apply insane pressure with his speed due to the delay
That fact that he can just fall back on Joker and then 3-0 practically any Top 10 player he wants to is almost scary good, lol
Not sure if this is true. The only time Leo consistently goes Joker any more is specifically for Dabuz; furthermore, just his Min-Min. This level of Joker is the result of a lot of recent offline practice and I'm sure Leo can beat other players with him, but to imply that it would be a 3-0 against practically *any* top 10 player is a little absurd. If this were the case Leo would likely start Joker against more players or at the very least switch to him after losing with Aegis/Byleth, but he does not. Not discrediting Leo, but literally at the start of the video it's stated that Dabuz has beaten Leo one single time and historically Leo dunks on him with Joker.
@@Chuckychargeblade not sure if your comment is necessarily true. Times mkleo has kept his joker polished he would reverse three o the then second place tweek almost effortlessly. sometimes 3-0 the challenger on the winners side on his way to a undefeated tourney win
The way Leo plays joker gives me melee vibes with how insanely optimized his movement and gun usage is. Not even in a melee movement way, but more so in that he plays like a fucking tas.
Leo's joker is peak ultimate, there is nothing that has ever compared. I feel like he plays other characters just so he can have more of a challenge.
He really does, as someone said before, if his motivation was purely to win, he would always use Joker, but he wanted to try out other characters he has fun with and still manages to garner around the same success. Like realistically, he could probably win a tournament with half the cast if he puts practice in to them.

Despite disliking Minmin, Proto's adaptation and level of focus and maintaning composture, damn I love that man too, looks like Japanese Leo hahaha ngl
I may be talking out of my ass here, but I distinctly remember hearing him say he felt robotic with Joker. He knew what he had to do and as long as he did it, he'd win, and it wasn't fun for him anymore.
@@MarioStickMan12 This seems to be a running consensus with a lot of people but it's just not true. Mkleo is pretty much always playing to win, and just because every dumbass puts Joker at top 3 because everyone else does despite horrible winrates and virtually no representation doesn't mean that if Mkleo "purely" wanted to win he would solo Joker. He definitely plays other characters for fun for certain, but it's not like he ever thought Byleth was unviable--he always thought Byleth had the potential and he capitalized on it. He himself has said that aside from fun factor from other characters the primary reason he doesn't play Joker more is because he's extremely exhausting to play and one of the most mechanically difficult characters in the game. Playing long drawn out tournaments with lengthy loser's brackets as solo Joker would probably take the steam out of Leo, and all of this isn't even mentioning Joker's struggles with a lot of other meta matchups. He plays other characters for fun, but it's almost necessary to have a secondary or more if you play Joker for both matchup coverage and maintaining mental.

Sadly; in the Smash story of being the best, Leo is the main character while everyone else is just there for support.
Other than Sparg0, Protobanham, Light, Marss and a few others; he doesn't really have a clear rival that he can't seem to beat or demon that he can't slay.

After a run of missing top 8s, Dabuz’s results have been quietly, consistently brilliant recently. 4th at Low Tide City, 4th at CEO, 4th at Double Down and now 2nd at smash factor 9! 😳
Dabuz has really been building a good case for being Top 5 at the moment with Leo, Light, Acola, and Gluto. Only person who I think beats him out is Tea imo, for outplacing and beating Dabuz at Crown 2 and DD

@@Senayoshy nah, you just don't count who isn't active. Not like we forgot about him lol. Tweek stopped going to the majority of majors as of now so people don't rank him even tho many people still have him top 5 or 10.
Now just imagine being that good and consist, most likely a top 10 player in the world, and getting spanked hard by the best player in the world. I mean there is about as big a gap between Leo and debuz as there is me and debuz. That was not close. Leo is too good.

@@voodooedits785 Yeah. Not to say Mkleo isn't absurdly talented, but it's not like he just brought him out after not playing for months. Joker takes a super long time to play effectively and considering Mkleo is the GOAT not really a fair comparison between him and Naito/Omega.

It's very good but considering there are literally only 2 top level Joker players left it's not as impactful and Marss's Joker is also extremely good. I wouldn't say that his is necessarily better but not way below Mkleo's

for example at the gimrvitational he often uses fsmash reads instead of nair 1 confirms and his gunusage still needs some work but movement-wise he is definetely close to leos

When you win to much with one character, you switch out a character to improve yourself. Plus, MkLeo doesn't want people to figure his Joker out and probably hid Joker to make him even more optimized. Yes, MKLeo has been holding back to move forward. He's basically been handicapping himself so he can explode when everyone forgets who he really is: a Joker Beast.
This isn't some anime LOL! He genuinely did not like playing Joker for a long time.
Leo's been streaming his Joker practice sessions a few weeks after slingshot became a thing. All of it is public for anyone who wants to take the time to watch.

Leo is dominant in Ultimate like Armada was in Melee. The fact that he can just pick up new/different characters, then return to one of his classic mains and WRECK SHOP. Masterful. Love how aggressive Leo’s Joker looks.

We are not even going to see Leo's Joker that much, despite the fact that many of us think that it is his best character, Leo does not seem to have the intention of returning to him as his main, he will be a secondary for some matches like Min Min which is definitely better choice what an Aegis or Byleth.

I respect strides a lot. but to say Proto's minmin is "good against joker" is a pretty unreliable statement when discussing the potential of the "greatest joker to ever do it", "the person who created the joker meta", "the likely still current best joker" and the "hard-to-argue best player in the world currently and for the last 3 years" all rolled into one person in MKLeo.
