As a woodworker I want to get into making something really cool like this, but I have no idea how to even begin. I would love a tutorial or something if you could make some videos for it.
Wish i could investment money into your creations! I wish i could furnish my home with all of em is why and you tap into so many markets nor is your work cheap or mass produced good materials. Its really nice to see what a great craftsman can really do in this age. Thank you.
@@davidolundell we just had a hour conversation on how we’re moving forward with our own pieces. You are our inspiration man, definitely looking forward to your new designs. Just FYI no work is getting done today because we can’t stop taking about woodworking 😂
Again like his other work is really really cool. I don't know that I would call this a puzzle because I don't think anybody could figure it out. You would have to know how to open it. I am inspired.
Thanks! Technically I have a website it’s Luckyroosterco.com it will be complete as soon as I remember to log on and approve the latest changes . What would you want the website to have? Any suggestions are appreciated.
I can imagine the hours this would take. I've got 6 hours kn a scrap cherry wood table I build just for fun. I also love the national treasures movies, used to do the d and d thing etc. Im a red seal carpenter, and one year (2) we built a mansion that had walnut floors, a hidden spiral staircase that led to the hobbit hole (basically bilbos bar) . Had a 2700 bottle wine room, had a hidden entrance also through a wardrobe kn a closet ( although, it did also have an elevator gojng to it so that was cheating) anyway, awesome work dude! Edit: got stitches in my thumb so typing is tough
That is awesome! I am a huge fan on hidden rooms. a hidden hobbit bar sounds freaking rad! I have had stitches three times since starting wood working. It sucks. get better soon. Thanks for the comment!
I’m about to binge watch all of your videos, amazing work. Sorry if it’s been answered already, but are these all your own custom designs (the locks and mechanism parts)? Are there reoccurring concepts you use? Incredible craftsmanship!!
I am about to pop some popcorn and join you! Yup! I designed and built all of them. I obviously was inspired by countless movies and woodworkers (Craig Thibodeau, Hp, pirates, national treasure to name a few). Most of the locks and mechanisms I created or repurposed. I have a small mountain of scrap steel and springs and I spend a ridiculous amount of time in antique store, in the welding shop and on Pinterest. I tend to love 45• angles and octagons. I realized that the other day when one of my clients pointed out the similarities between tables. I started building tables after an in-depth conversation with my brothers( I have 10 ( it’s a Utah thing) and they are all artists) how to make your art the center of attention. As we all had our feet kicked up on the coffee table, I realized tables were the center of almost ever conversation (sitting around them) and they were usually boring. I found a problem and attempted to fix it. And thank you. I sorta love talking about my obsessions. Don’t get me started on pigeons, chickens or writing.
The second DIY video I've watched today where someone has used a key they found outside somewhere. How careless are people with keys? But my gosh is this insanely good. Haven't got a clue how you managed to make this.
So I just found you yesterday, and have managed to watch almost all of your videos. I am a maker myself, but these are too complex to figure out. Any chance we could get a build video on one of your puzzle creations?
@@davidolundell If there's a way to get you my contact information, I'm deeply impressed with your work and am eager to throw money at you. I absolutely understand if there's a wait, but I'm a very patient man. :)
The fact that you have to reset the puzzle to open it is good because if you didn’t have to do that then I would be lazy and leave it done which would defeat the purpose of the puzzle
I do get price questions a lot😬 It’s never a simple answer so I usually avoid answering it😅Most of my creations I break even on. Some of them I even loose money because I am trying new things that take tons of time in research and lots of money in practice and materials (it’s my way of paying for my education... I have got to get good somehow right?) If I wanted to make money on that puzzle chest (above minimum wage). I would have to charge around twenty five hundred plus shipping. That would put it at around $20 an hour, also It took just under $100 to ship it from Utah to Wisconsin. That being said there are a ton of wood workers who could do it faster and better. Their tens of thousands of practice hours were probably earned in the same way mine are so I can’t complain.
you sir have an amazing aazing mind. I bet you tell fantastic stories to your children, they must be in seventh heaven when you turn up. If you do not have kiddies then they are missing out
Like the fact that in order to open it, you need to start putting things away. Less chance of losing anything.
imagine taking something out and closing the box but then you realize you forgot something in the box
awesome project keep it up!
This guy be like: "and for the next key you'll actually need a clue hidden on the back of the declaration of independence"
Yea superb box
I've always loved puzzle boxes in point and click games. Its awesome to see a real life version of it
makes me curious what you could do with something based off magic the gathering
Worst place to store an epi pen. 10/10
So many steps just open up this chest. I got admit I’m impressed. I love these things. I so want to get a table with hidden compartments.
This is an amazing project
Your eye for detail is astonishing.
Your craftsmanship is bad ass! Love it!!!

Wow thank you, that means a lot!
@@davidolundell well, im impressed.
So clever. Your projects are always excellent.
This took me so long to realize it was Harry Potter themed.
To be fair, the only thing I don`t like is that is Harry Potter themed.
Me and a friend at work have been talking about these hidden compartments that your building for like a week. Love your work!
When I build the castle you will have to come check it out.

Sweet box!! Love the species of woods you use in all your tables and pieces
This might be the best creation I have ever seen 😍
Great project. A nice chest too keep important stuff like emergency medicine in =)
I would love to see these chests being designed and built, awesome.
Harry Potter inspired wizards box cool 😎👌
These fat hands are really magical. Big fan sir.
Love your work

To be fair you sorta have to be a complete Harry Potter nerd. They guy I built it for is a wand maker....
Great job David. You are quite clever and have the craftsmanship to create some amazing pieces. When are you going to create a website?

Incredible
Amazimg bro. I felt like a kid watching this.

Done
@@davidolundell thanks. Love your work. I'd love to maybe discuss a guitar or music related table some day.

Behold! Another clue
Amazing man. HOW DO YOU MAKE THESE?!?!?!
I want this
Nice I like that for a idea for my game hehehehe
For once the TH-cam notifications weren't late.
you really should make tutorials on these
Very nice work. Destined for the Smithsonian. Only they will be able to open it.
You may need to do a colab with Chris Ramsay ;)
Working on it. The guy is a legend though so it needs to be equally legendary.
So I just found you yesterday, and have managed to watch almost all of your videos. I am a maker myself, but these are too complex to figure out. Any chance we could get a build video on one of your puzzle creations?
Ya!
I also discovered this channel yesterday. I was already watching wood turning and restoration videos. Thank TH-cam.
I do wonder. How does one optain such a awesome Piece of furniture?
Eventually I’ll get caught up and have some available again.
DOPE af bruh ! I need one so I can hide my wifes ability to control my race car money ! LOL \m/
Where can I commission/buy from you? I am desperate for something like this.
I would like to build a couple more puzzle chests. It will probably be the end of the year before I have time though.

Todo esse trabalho se torna ineficaz quando se depara com uma boa marreta.
Wow
Couldn’t u stick a pencil or something like that where the wands go (behind the little statues)
ok this is way too cool
I WANT it...
I would Like to buy this Box! How can i get?😍😍😍😍
Awsome
I would use this box to store my EpiPens.
What's your website
I asked this in another video, but are you from Utah?
WOW !!!!!
Thats bad ass
Where did you het the chest my wife would love to have one.......that is awsome.....please respond I really like to het her one for her birthday
You need to make a puzzle box for Chris Ramsay.
Every video I see where someone uses an old key, they say they found it in spain. Just saw another one yesterday
I think "found" is meant to be taken as "I was in Spain and I found this key at an antique shop/my cousin's shed/a store.
Plot twist : there's no magnets or locks.
It's all just magic.
I had someone freak out and tell me it was all just magnets and not magic. I hate to break it to him but ya unfortunately ya
I'm sitting in my loungeroom yelling at the screen this is fucking cooooool
Nice!!
You should send this to the TH-camer Chris Ramsey. He loves solving puzzle boxes.
Oh that’s a good idea! This chest already has a destination but maybe he would like something similar.
The fact that you have to reset the puzzle to open it is good because if you didn’t have to do that then I would be lazy and leave it done which would defeat the purpose of the puzzle
It was a mean trick I played to confuse the buyer but yes. It makes it nicely reset after each use.
TAKE ALL OF MY STIMMY!
I know that you get asked this all the time but about how much would you sell that box for as is?

If you could 3D print in wax you could make your molds cheaper. Takes time to carve that first one of each character.
This guy be like
When escape rooms theme hits to hard
I wanna build a full on castle with secret tunnels and hidden passages all over the dang thing. But I am just a peasant so I build boxes
you sir have an amazing aazing mind. I bet you tell fantastic stories to your children, they must be in seventh heaven when you turn up. If you do not have kiddies then they are missing out

Ooooooh this is Harry potter
U should send this to crish Ramsey
