The rain. We know Syracuse can has it share of heavy rain storms how these roads going to do with flooding that already happens in these area.
The snow. What happens when we get our normal snow and these roads are going worse. Who going to plow these road now that it's BL81? Where are the people at walking in the roads because the sideways aren't keep clean.
These are only some of the issues of this video let alone this whole project. I watch a Movie this weekend that had a guy that was immortal and had ten rings. He fought his son and there was a dragon. That movie was more believable then this is.
Keep voting dems and RINOS AND THIS IS WHAT YOU DESERVE
I totally agree 👍
Stupid af. Update 81 and leave it as a overpass.
The overpass is a train wreck
@@austineverett6384 Only because it hasn't been properly maintained. A new wider structure would last another 100 years if properly built. We maintain much older bridges in this country without them falling down.
Yeah...because DOT just happens to have an extra $1,000,000,000.00 hanging around that couldn't be spent wisely instead.
@@All4Grogg So they are going to spend twice that on this stupidity.
@@All4Grogg you better talk to turtle mitch about that
As much as I hate the over passes this feels more like community grid lock than community grid. Wait til you get all the trucks (they won't all go on 481), and rush hour hits all those traffic lights. We all gonna be singing 'Slave to the traffic light- by Phish'
Why wouldn't they? That's going to be where traffic gets routed by their navigation apps eventually. It's going to naturally avoid stoplights.
@@latifroberson4403 because a lot of those truck deliveries are going to be made to Syracuse or it's suburbs, normally they would take the highway and get off right at the exit where the businesses but now they have to go through the entire city.
@@mikelikesguitaralot the only exit that's going away is Adams/Harrison. So truckers have to drive an extra half mile not on a elevated structure. Big deal. Truckers from the south going somewhere north of Syracuse should've been taking 481 all along. The grid or a new overpass won't get built overnight. So either way truckers will be on 481. Where they belong.
@@retrojordans5 adams harrison exit is terrifying to cross on foot, worst place in the city. it looks like if anything this'll make it much worse. screw you syracuse. i'm glad i moved to auburn. the arterial i guess is kinda similar, and it murderously sucks, but better than this abomination
@@luciferangelica how will Adams/harrison be worse than today if traffic is spread out more? Traffic from the south will be able to access the Hill from Colvin(Manley Field House parking for employees) and Van Buren(parking garages a block away). Traffic from the North, East, and West will have new exits to Irving and Crouse. I know change is hard for Upstaters but I think u guys can manage.
In the past the goal was for roadways to move traffic, now the system has been taken over by the nut jobs who now say their goal is to slow traffic down from 65 MPH to 30 MPH. Will these same people next suggest we go back to the horse and buggy.
i hope we jack up the price of gas to $100. a gallon, and you can stop running me over all the time, and cooking me too, screw you
I get what you're saying but you seem unable to view it from the perspective of others. Roadways through urban areas need to consider their impact on the RESIDENTS and visitors of those urban areas. That's why they're spending millions to provide thru traffic a means to keep at 65.
It is such a small city as far as significant metro's go, that even in bad traffic you can drive all the way across it in 30 minutes. In the worst traffic you can get from anywhere in the county to downtown in what, 20 or 30 mins?
That said, I'm skeptical of the roundabout. Some one coming from the south that wants to go to, idk hawley green neighborhood or Eastwood or even Armory square, has no good options. They can deal with surface streets for miles or they can drive miles out of their way. I live near James and Teal and own a house Palace theater and coming from the south I have no good way of getting there.
If this helps the city and her residents, then I'm all for it. But I don't think it will all that much.
@@burtan2000 This myth (more like a Big Lie) has gone on for over 50 years that somehow that 81 viaduct somehow hurt the area. That is pure bull. It was a crime infested slum and most of it is the same now and forcing people to drive though the area solves nothing, but provides more opportunity for pan handlers and other to take advantage of those who travel through the city. It also will likely be the end of Destiny which in a way is a good thing, but that will leave another mess for local government to clean up.
isn't the speed limit 45mph through most of the city highway?
@@fatguy0nacouch Yes, but this is no longer a highway. Look at the 30 MPL signs they have in the video
This is horrible. The first stop into this Community Maze is Pioneer Homes. Looks like GTA.
so you admit that the highways were made for white suburbanites to bypass poor communities. lol
@@frankiecarroll1480 you don't want to stop in the poor community during The Joe Biden Crime Wave.
@@donsmith2838 Then don't go to syracuse lol hahahah if you hate the people in the city, then don't go simple as that. Stay in the suburbs.
Can’t wait for the community gridlock. If the can demo some buildings for this grid. They can demo the buildings and rebuild and upgrade I81 to code.
Rebuilding I-81 to code would require demolishing 24 buildings. The grid requires 4. That's why it won.
yeah. this still looks pretty much as stupid as i thought. adams and west st have always been the hardest places to cross the street, in that order, and it looks like they still will be it's really dumb that the highway just dumps out into downtown syracuse, kinda just like before, but before you didn't have to get off the highway. dumb this is why sewercuse sucks. stop ruining everything
Looks amazing at least in animation.
Everything will be ok unless there’s safety
yeah, looks so safe to reroute the fn highway so it runs right by the underprivileged elementary school. i'm sure we'd be hearing about that if it was fm or west genesee
My prediction is that roundabout is the weak spot and will be rife with accidents.
@@nywvblue why'd they put it right next to a school? it's very easy to jump to the conclusion that they do not care about the children in that neighborhood
Too many ambush points.
Ambush from what?
@@jamesscott2043 Count the number of shootings in a month in Syracuse now and look at all the new spots where motoristscan be shot.
@@TonyBSyr, you act like Syracuse is a war zone. We literally had 31 homicides in 2016, and that was our worst year ON RECORD. In 2019, 102 people were shot (mostly injured) in the entire year - out of a population of 142,000+ people. That's a 0.07% chance of getting shot. 7 times more people in all of Onondaga County died from COVID-19 than were shot over the course of the last year.
And most of these shootings aren't nefarious ambushes by carjackers. They're idiots who get in arguments. I live in Syracuse and can walk down any block at any time of day or night and not worry about getting shot. How? Mind your fucking business, that's how. Walk away from arguments, don't get involved in drama, and you'll be fine 99.9% of the time.
Syracuse is a good city. It's just clearly not for pussies like you.
