  • The Original Gangsters Podcast brings you a special interview with former undercover FBI agent Giovanni Rocco. Giovanni first went undercover as an outlaw biker, who happened to be Italian. The Mafia in North Jersey was so impressed with him, they asked him to trade in his biker cut for a pinkie ring. As a result, Giovanni was dealing with higher ups in the DeCavalcante crime family, until the case ended in 2015. The DeCavalcante crime family was the inspiration for the Sopranos television show.

Could someone from this channel explain why there’s ads less than three minutes apart and they’re not stopping. This is like a TH-cam record for ads. ? It’s too bad cause your content is above board. But the ads ?

The Cop he's referring to is George Weingartner. He was the driver when Di Gilio got whacked.
The actual triggerman was Louis Auricchio.
He died a couple of years ago after having been released in 2010.

It must be much more difficult being a undercover agent these days with smart phones and social media. It was much easier to create people back in the day. After listening to joe pistones book he was lucky he wasn’t killed even in the late 70s

Always a Possibility 🤷‍♂💯, Some people might feel some kind of way about it, Similar to how when Donnie Brasco was Outed as an FBI Agent the Ppl who brought him around like Tony Mirra/Sonny Black were Held Accountable, In Modern times there's a 1000 Informant's & Covert CI's on the Streets so have to sit back & wait and see if hear anything bout it.

Tbh 💯, Even if an Officer/Someone in Law Enforcement Changes up his Appearance and takes on a New Investigative Case Always Pondered this some criminals are Sharp they can look at you for 20 seconds and cut through you better than a Surgeon "Don't I know you from Somewhere? 🤔" would seem if while Investigating say a Drug Ring for example but you Busted an MC Club awhile back your Bound to Bump into each other especially if in Same town🤷‍♂, Idk how Law Enforcement does it they must have Nerves of Steel cause any Person would be Wondering "Oh Shit there's that Guy that I Popped 2 Months ago, I Hope he does not ID Me" .

Lol not true at all, that’s what David Chase said. But it’s a complete lie. Don’t be so naive. It is absolutely based on the NJ family and many many real life events were portrayed in the show… Il give you just one example. Vito being killed for being gay, that is based on a real event. Saving peeps with sociopathic tendencies from themselves & others before they inevitably die or end up in jail anyway. Someone's gotta do it. Some things crims/gangsters do shouldn't be policed for the sake of civil liberty (gambling, drugs) but other shit (violence, deception etc.) that is committed for the sake of enforcing those businesses just ain't cool.

The Soprano's were based on the deCavalcanti Family geographically - north NJ - and in their relation with the 5 Families of New York. However, it has also been said that Tony Soprano was based a bit on Roy DeMeo, minus the serial killer part, since he was living an otherwise normal upper middle class family life in a prosperous suburb, and the Vito character was obviously based on Vito Arena of the DeMeo crew.
