I love watching Rich basically teach Jeff and the audience how he played the game for (at that point) 38 days. He understood how to take full advantage of the game and set the standard for how to play it going forward
Random Immunity idols nuked this strategy from happening every year.

I love that Richard says “final 2” during the final 3 immunity challenge because he is so extremely confident that they’ll both take him. The first winner, the best one too.
He was such a head of the game it’s scary looking back

Apparently it wasn't initially. I heard somewhere that Gervase and Colleen were going to vote for Rich, but they changed their votes to Kelly out of sympathy, right after Sue's infamous "snakes and rats" speech.

I think if anything, the vote wasn't so much against Rich, as it was against Sue.

I love how chill everyone is
You can tell Jeff wasn't happy. He didn't understand just how hard Rich was playing the game. It wasn't a quit. It was a strategic decision. A selfish one, certainly. Because it left poor Rudy to carry the load for the rest of the challenge. But Rich knew if he'd stayed in it and beaten Kelly he would HAVE to vote Rudy off, or else lose to him in the Final 2. And by voting him off and taking Kelly he would've post Rudy's jury vote. But Jeff, as well as the audience, didn't understand the game yet. He sure does now, though.
Rich has said he believes he would have won a jury vote against Rudy since he would have made a point about he was the founder of the dominant alliance.

Newer survivor fans will never understand this season and how epic it was (life changing)
It seems like in the earlier seasons Jeff interacted more with the contestants. But back in the first 4 seasons he wouldn't commentate on all of the challenges like he does now. I wish he would go back to letting the challenges playing out instead of him commentating on them.

Kelly the dominator. Really played with her back against the wall. 4 immunities a record that lasted one season til Colby won 5. Still one of four women to win 4 immunity challenges.
Didn't someone confess that producers were feeding Kelly those last few days?
What a brilliant move by Rich to step out of this challenge. He had to figure that whether he won or lost, he was more likely than not going to the final 2. Had Rudy won, Rudy had given his word that he’d take Rich with him, and it was extremely unlikely that Rudy was flipping given his nature. And Kelly had to figure she’d have to take her chances of beating Rich over Rudy. The one big thing Rich was somewhat gambling on was that Kelly would outlast Rudy in this challenge, because I don’t think even Rich could have beat Rudy in the final vote.
It's even better than that: Rich knew that if he won, and voted Rudy out (because he couldn't beat Rudy), he would likely lose Rudy's vote. He ended up winning 4-3, so Rudy's vote was decisive. By letting Kelly vote Rudy out, Rich didn't have to, therefore keeping Rudy's trust. Maybe, if Rudy was as strategically sound as Rich, he would have realized the plot anyways, and voted for Kelly regardless. But Rich knew he was the only one capable of seeing that far ahead. This wasn't just a brilliant move - it was the only viable move Rich had. If he won the challenge, he would've lost the game.
Can you imagine Jeff at the end of this challenge after 37 seasons...................

r5t6y12 You have tO uNdErStaND you can’t TAKE YOUR HAND OFF. 38 days out here your mind forgets to simply keep your hand on the pole. One mistake can haunt you forever. I could imagine them trying to make this moment iconic😂😂😂
This challenge was so long and so inciteful. It gave Richard the opportunity to discuss the entire game and strategy for all future contestant. Jeff and producers taking notes. The good thing was they did not edit all the gibberish Richard was talking about. What was gibberish then is now the survivor bible.
Even though Rudy was more popular, I’m so glad rich won this game. Survivor as a franchise needed this.
If Rudy whould have staied there he would have won RIP the most honest survivor player ever
By stepping out early and get lots of rest, Richard proved he deserved to win the game
No way Rich would have taken Rudy to the finals with him. He knew he had Kelly right where he wanted her to be.

Even if he hadn't moved his hand, do you actually think he was beating a girl 50 years younger than him in an endurance challenge?
If Rudy had one survivor would not have lasted more than three seasons
Rudy couldn't have ultimately outlasted Kelly in an endurance challenge, but what if he had lasted long enough to still be there at the end of that day when it came time for tribal council? If any 70 year old could, a Navy Seal could. I always wondered how they would resolve that?
@@MrBen51309Yes. Rudy's not just an old man he was a Navy SEAL. This challenge was basicallly purpose built for him to win it, and he knew it, and he keeps bringing it up too lol.
If it was anything else id be with you, but simply standing there with a hand on an idol doesnt seem hard for an ex SEAL.

I've always wondered, what if they had all still been there at the end of the day when it came time for Tribal Council? Or if Rudy had stuck it out? How do they resolve that?
This challenge was purpose built to give Rudy a million dollars and he loses it because of lack of focus. No wonder he was so pissed.

In my opinion Jeff was trying to ignore Rudy's hand coming off as they wanted him to win the entire thing. It was no secret that the producer's had convinced some people in Tagi to vote Stacy instead of Rudy.
such a weird challenge and weird ending to it honestly.. one guy quits on purpoise and other one by mistake, didnt like this at all
Tuncay Sanli On the contrary. In my opinion this is the best challenge in all of survivor
I mean they are just standing there, it’s not like anyone would accidentally fall off or something. You would either have to give up or make a mistake in order to lose...
But yeah I guess that’s what makes it weird, there really isn’t a way for your body to completely give out and fail. Its basically who wanted immunity the most.
Rich did NOT quit. It was part of his strategy already figuring out how survivor works before the whole world did
@@ashleywilliams4665 My theory is that Its because Mark Burnette designed this challenge for Rudy to win it. They were old friends and he already carried Rudy through the game(look up Stacys lawsuit). Doing anything other then this would have been to hard for Rudy. I think they were banking that hed have more patience then the corprate dude and young woman. If you pay attention it seems like for a split second Jeff tries to ignore Rudys hand coming off and Kelly says "he took his hand off" all annoyed, because she noticed that Jeff was not looking.
I also think Rudys reaction and some of his comments hint at this possibility. He really seems more mad then someone who just lost by chance, like he knew he was meant to win.
