It’s crazy to me that people don’t believe in the American dream when this is still possible. Being able to start from nothing and end up with some level of success
I know this is came out a while ago but this story is very similar to my dad’s. He grew up a poor kid in Arizona that was in a very toxic household. His family was so poor that when he was 16 and wanted to go to the local college summer program his family didn’t have the money to go to it. (He ended up going because his grandpa gathered enough money and gave it to him to go) All he had growing up was his smart. He took all honors and APs throughout high school and did not get anything less than an a. To be honest he probably could have gone to an Ivy League school if he had the money to apply anywhere besides U of A. He ended up getting a full ride for academics. He is now a partner at his firm and the president of two nonprofit organizations. With all the work he takes on, he still is the best father I could have asked for.
I am here and subscribed because for some reason I can relate. My family had just arrived to the US and we had nothing but the clothes on our backs, I was 4. A few months later my brother and I asked if we could go to Burger King and they said we didn’t have any money. So we then looked through my dads truck and collected enough coins to buy a cheeseburger. My mom and dad each took a bite and my older brother and I shared the rest of it. That experience helped me understand that life is not fair and we aren’t entitled to anything. You want something then go and fight for it, go and work for it. Life will place individuals in your path to help you along the way if you show up, do the work, and do the right thing.
I do sincerely agree that you will find good people trough out life that will help and change your life, for me it maybe will sound corny but I called them angels, I'm not religious but that's is my definition of an angel, good hearted people that goes throught rough times with you and make your life better, if they only listen and give advice at the right time that's and angel that can change forever your life....thank you to all my angels
Dude manifested that amazing life while not even believing in LOA, imagine what he could do if he realizes how powerful we really are and uses it deliberately

The idea that poverty is somehow a uniquely brown thing in the modern psyche is sickening, it dehumanizes none Black, Brown an Indigenous folk and makes their suffering almost justified to these groups.
Not trying to discredit you bro, what you said are true, but you are NOT raise below poverty line when your parents can bring you to chuck e cheese and get you a pizza. You are raise below poverty line when your parents are too busy to bring you anywhere and you are basically living like a homeless kid, I know because I was raise in Kowloon before I came to America, and when I see kids saying they're raised in poverty but still able to have their parents bring them somewhere to celebrate their birthday, they're lucky they never been in poverty. Poverty taught me one important thing, if you are forced to do what you don't like because of money, you will always stay in poverty.

People don't believe in it because everything is going against you. Capitalism profits from your downfall.
