This is a let's play walkthrough of Trails of Cold Steel 3, originally known as Sen No Kiseki 3 in Japan, on nightmare mode. This Trails of Cold Steel 3 video, in particular, was condensed down to several minutes to only feature all funny and interesting moments.

It's also cool how it actually mirrors real life a bit with how the mechanical watch like orbments of Sky slowly become like phones then like smartphones as those technologies became things irl.

Oh Altina. The most underrated troll in all of trails and she’s that much more enjoyable of a character because of it
I love Altina, but I don't think she's under-rated. IIRC she was the highest rank non-protag in the series during the fave character survey in Japan... I think she beat half the protags too IIRC.
In the west she might be under-rated. Probably because she's a loli though. Western fans for games are often incapable of separating how much they like a character from potential sex-appeal and then they virtue signal that they would never sex a loli so they have to not like her other qualities too or something. Honestly seems more like a self-report when they do that but whatever.
Someone had to take Fie's position of "sassy tiny white haired thing" while she's not around.

It makes sense that Zemuria struggles to keep up with technological advancements. They are making a lot of the strides in technology we make over the course of a century over the span of about a decade.
Regarding Vantage Masters:
The main goal is it to bring the HP of the opponents hero card to 0.
There are many hero cards you can unlock/collect in the game.
Each with their own unique abillities that influence your strategy.
Some can heal your units, some use ranged attacks and can hit the back line even when other enemy units are in the front line, other use spells.
Unit cards can be ranged and should be placed in the back line, others can create a shield for the 2 cards next to it.
Spell cards can heal units, increase the strenght, damage oppnents or seal them so they cannot act.
You can have up to three decks ready. Later you will have to cater you deck to the opponent like when a opponent uses mostly water cards it is prudent to
use a earth based deck.
There are many characters in the game you can play against. When you win you unlock a new card. If you beat important characters like party members you also get addidional bonding points.
Note, from CS 3 onward link points for link attacks and bonding points are now separated.

Be sure to stop by Jingo at the pawnshop often. Not just because you can manufacture rare quartz here, but also because her mini-storyline of her and her dog is one of the most legendary things in videogaming ever. I kid you not.

PS there is one point where you can get AP for Vantage Masters. Just as a forewarning.
It's less that Munk's becoming a major character and more that the Japanese version started to put a bit more effort in giving more characters (especially those with unique designs) voice acting, even if it means doubling up. As in, there are few characters in the game that don't share their Japanese voice actor with another character (some even with Class VII members).
Incidentally, while Rosine shares her Japanese VA with Tita, her English VA voices a different character that hasn't showed up yet.
P.S. Not going to lie, I chuckled when Altina was worried about being a third wheel to Juna and Kurt. That was kind of cute.
He already knows she's returning because she was in the pre-opening. Though of course Rosine's English VA also voices a third character in this game...
"The War of Lions" because that is the only thing that ever happened in the history of Erebonia.
Ah yes Trails of Cold Steel 3 is the return of mute Rean. You remember all those newly added lines XSEED added to CS1 and CS2. Welp expect more scenes where Rean is mute while another character talks especially when you meet them for the first time. Fun fact if you played the PSP or PS3 version of CS1 & 2 than you too can experience mute Rean in those games (this also applies to the JP voices).
Also play Vantage masters otherwise you will regret it.
Also PANNED CAKES
Use Rean's "Iron Will" order a lot.
It costs only one BP which means you can use almost always.
It reduces received damage by half and makes the game much less frustating especially on "nightmare".
And do not forget to use HP-quartz to avoid getting one shotted.
So, just thought you should know, don't sleep on Altina's Brave order Ebon Crest. It provides 4 (of your) turns of Complete Damage reflect and complete immunity. It probably would have made that last fight a bit easier easier for example. Not to say that Wht Decoration is bad or anything, the eight turns is really nice, but Ebon Crest is just so powerful.
Ah yes, the twist villains. How did Machias put it? "Your secret society isn't secret if everybody we meet is in it guys." And yes, I feel that bit with needing an older adult that isn't me. My coworkers told me though that this is normal. I can't wait to play this game myself. I just need to finish my midlog first. Musse is literally the thirst character. I plan to avoid her. Also Reans scar. I heard it gets explained later. My fridge is broken btw. I really need to make sure I don't buy stuff that needs to be cooled. Pesto is my friend. And noodles. Keep having fun man.
It was around 93 degrees for like a week and a half over the summer and our fridge struggled to keep up, so I feel your pain there.

That's why you have to watch the NG+ scene with Thomas and Rosine before starting CS3. It was a wtf moment in CS2, but it would have been even more of a wtf moment if you hadn't watched it. lol

Yeah, for how much the branch campus is just a place to dump the unwanted and complicated characters, The place is insanely big, state of the art and was build in just a year.
Kinda insane
Abusing brave orders and break system is the key to snap the game's difficulty, so get used to them. When the enemy is in break state, you'll generally want to attack them with normal attack/crafts to recover BP before unleashing S craft for maximum damage. This is also the appropriate time to use offensive brave orders such as Rean's Raging Fire (read: Not-Motivate). For defensive Brave orders, you'll want to use them RIGHT BEFORE the enemy's turn so you can benefit from their effects longer instead of immediately activating them such as here 28:56
Due to the game's battle system design, you'll either be cheesing the enemy (via abusing orders, break , and link attacks) or they'll be the ones cheesing you (expect more Summon Power type BS along the way), there's no middle ground.
Rean's default orders are actually pretty good for how cheap they are. You have damage boosting as well as defense and recovery (Iron Will also recovers HP and EP, which can be used as an immediate healing and might save you from game over) before you gain access to more specialized (and broken) orders.
Oh and Vantage Masters is actually a pretty fun minigame (more so than Blade). Beating an opponent for the first time usually rewards you with new cards.
Really the whole new cast of CS3 I really love.
Altina's brave order can come in handy if you know the enemy is about to get several turns in a row. Like spam 3 S breaks, leave the last person to activate the order and then s break again. Enemy gets several truns in a row and all attacks get reflected.
Don't sleep on Vantage Master if you are looking to get all points in each chapter.

They probally did this to "balance" the crafts with High Break Status and good attack, because enemies in Break Status take soo much damage, that becomes stupid.

17:05 yeah this is pretty infamous among people who played CS2 around or after the release of CS3 because most of them went straight from a first playthrough of CS2 to CS3. It makes sense why Falcom did it at the time as it gave Trails fans something to do while waiting for CS3 but by this point they should have just updated CS2 to make this scene available during the first playthrough.
18:39 Vantage Masters is a proper game and is actually based on Falcom's 1997 tactics RPG Vantage Master. It's best to beat VM players as you find them as otherwise you're likely to not have the cards you need to beat later opponents.

Damn it Gaius, you can't even be bothered to keep in contact with me? I always knew you were the worst member of Class VII, I hate you. (Also yeah, Vantage Master is more fun than Blade imo, the only problem with it is that there are only a small number of cards you can buy in shops to beef up your deck. Most of the good cards can only be obtained by beating other players, who can use them against you, so for a while early on playing it is like pulling teeth lol.)

I suspect most of the people that prefer blade would rather play neither and only do them for points and stuff and it just so happens blade is faster and you get points even if you lose so they like it. The actual rules of the game are the pits though.
