Guaranteed the answer dlc development was essentially done when reload launched. They couldn’t plan, design, and build the answer that fast waiting for a good fan response to reload. This is atlus. (I love atlus but they take their time)
They essentially admitted they started working on it during P3 reload’s marketing phase but wouldn’t have finished it by the time the base game released, but didn’t want to leave it out of the game as they saw how fans were clamoring for it to be included, so as a compromise they decided to release it as DLC later as their goal.
@@AlmaHeartfire I'm cool with paying for it. Vanilla P3R has enough content on its own that I don't think charging for DLC (especially when said DLC is reportedly a whopping 30 hours) is all that unreasonable.
So I understand them wanting to keep Tartarus randomly generated in the base game in order to preserve the feeling of the original, but I really feel like they should have done mode with the dungeons in this. the dungeon crawling is the entier point of this DLC, THIS is the time to break out the hand-crafted dungeons. People were just annoyed with having to spend the extra money, and that it wasn't included in the original, regardless of the quality of the content. People REALLY wanted that definitive P3 experience and Atlus kinda dropped the ball (even if it was due to very understandable budgetary and development scope reasons.)
@@PatManDX it was because they were selling a Deluxe edition that was supposed to include all DLC, low and behold the aegis pass comes out and it is not considered DLC that was included in said edition which was only mentioned after the fact. I've been saying, ever since I finished P3R (plan to get the dlc eventually, when I have extra wiggle room in my budget lol) that I REALLY hope that people acknowledge the voice acting in P3R when award noms start coming out. Everyone is so good in this game but, honestly, one of the standouts for me is Zeno Robinson. I've always loved Junpei as a character, he and Akihiko were always my top two fave characters in the game (Shinji and Saori from P3P close behind) but Zeno's performance as Junpei has been a big like- example I give when I tell people that someone's take on a character can sell it for people. There's people I had to convince, who found him annoying at first, to give Junpei a shot- I would tell them how he has one of my favorite development arcs in a game. But there's others who found him endearing at first in Reload, and its BECAUSE of the take Zeno got to have with the chsracter. 1:05 A little correction, the Answer was not FES exclusive, back in the day you could buy an extra disc to play it but it never got out of japan so the only way to play it in English is buying FES, the japanese fans are not upset about it being DLC cause they know it was "DLC" on the PS2 too, only the west fans are upset saying it was "Ripped off from base game to sell separately" when it was separated all along, they think it's ripped cause they only know FES.
Exactly. It's people with their brains turned off. But it's weird because I only played FES and at the time I already knew it was a re-release of P3. But a lot of Persona fans clearly never actually played their own game because Reload is built on top of the changes that were already made in P3P. Idk it just rubs me the wrong way that such emotional vulnerability and anger was shelved for the sake of her likable brand. Just kinda took me out in comparison to og. Seriously I knew they'd defang her in response to the blatant misogy people felt towards her character and especially considering one of the bigger issues with Yukari (the fact that every one of her character moments center around men in her life) was never remedied.
Great now we'll have complaints that she's not mean enough. I've often said P3 fans are the hardest megaten fans to please and boy ain't that the truth sometimes. While I agree, you have to keep in mind that the original localization for the Answer really made Yukari a lot meaner than the original Japanese. The Reload version is closer and more accurate in comparison (or so I'm told). I was told that FES Yukari's attitude was a lot more of a slow boil that doesn't explode until the Colosseum battles. That said, I do miss the last bit of petty desperation we see from her in FES, and I'm a little sad they took that from us. I don't think either version of Yukari is bad, I do miss abrasive Yukari myself even if it's inaccurate to the source material, but don't think it's fair to say it's JUST because people who had poor media literacy won out or that Atlus got cold feet (can't deny that those were possible factors, but I'm just saying there's other things at play that are likely more significant). You gotta remember, Yukari was "toned down" in the main story of Reload too, for the same reasons of how the original localization was inaccurate. It's just one of those subjective things. It's weird to think that the modern western P3's understanding of Yukari was informed by some divergent localization changes from the 2000s, accompanied by some SERIOUS misogyny from the fandom from back then. That being said, I hope someone mods in some of the older FES version of the scenes (Yukari's last desperate attempt, some of her meaner comments (even if they need to be re-voiced), and the one cutscene that was a lot more morbid in the original).
@@7evanidk what’s worse. P3 fans hating Yukari in the answer or seeing P5 fans get mad because they are told Akechi and Joker aren’t gay but it’s Akechi finally having a friend and enjoying what he missed his whole life
A friend livestreams the answer last night. I have "don't" on loop for 4 hours at work today. Buns uploads "the answer" video tonight. Me: I HAVE SUMMONED HER! XD
This DLC is very similar to KH3's limit cut. If you love the combat, The Answer/Episode Aigis is worth your price and time. The dungeon crawling, Persona compendium, Theurgies, and party members kit are pretty much better than the Journey/Makoto side, especially Metis is OP for that reason. But for the story, nothing differs with just adjustments and more social links. So it's up to the players to buy it or not. Waiting for sales/discount is also fair way if you don't like the price.
Fun fact: Technically, this isn't the first time The Answer campaign got sold separately. Back in the day, Japanese players had the option to either buy P3FES at full price (¥8,000) or the Append Edition at a fraction (~¥3500), which needed an original copy of P3 to work. The Append Edition contained basically all of FES' QoL improvements and The Answer. In other words, "physical DLC", so to speak.
Ye gods! The stars of aligned and our O so Starchy Mother hast blessed us lil' crumbs with a SECOND VIDEO in the SAME MONTH?!?!?! Jokes aside, tho, congrats on the sponsorship! Can't think of someone who deserves it more than you~
I’m gonna be a contrarian here, I actually liked what they were going for in that cutscene in reload in the og while it was good it was more like “damnnn look how painful and gorey that looks” while in reload it’s more about How Aigis reacts to it
@@mariatukoroma3900think it’s more of a tone difference that separates itself from older games, p1 and 2 have a lot of creepy shock moments like a full scene of showing you p1’s final boss and the general reaction ends up as “what the fuck is that!? Who designed this!?” And me describing it wouldn’t make it better
Just got done with my playthrough, and decided to check out a few reviews and comments in that usual post-completion fixation. Gotta give it up for the way you handle the more controversial topics-namely, with humor, neutrality, and respect. Cuz it ain't exactly the best feeling to suddenly be met with an unexpectedly large angry mob yelling about how the things that nearly made you tear up just a couple hours ago are such "watered down garbage made for wussy snowflakes", they may as well consider it the greatest gaming sin of the 2000s 🙃
I'm glad i found this comment cause this is what I'm afraid of. I haven't beaten the normal story yet, although I think I'm close to it. And I'm just worried that when I get to this and beat it, I'll enjoy it like I expect myself to, only to look online and see everyone complaining that it's "too soft" or whatever the buzzword is at the time. I already struggle with constantly worrying about if my opinion is "correct" or not already. I don't want to have played this, loved it, and then be told that my own feelings are wrong because I played the wrong version or whatever. Even if I haven't had an opportunity to play the original.
It kinda makes sense that Aigis would only have a single sad expression, when you consider that she _is_ a robot. Yes, a robot with a soul and full sapience, but a machine nonetheless. That may be as far as the technology could get with her expression wise in universe.
@@CrimsonBladezz ? You mean the challenge, grind and time commitment? Yeah, I like to compare it to New Game+ is a additional story mode where you go way beyond and you work your way through to get the additional story elements. I never fiund this aspect of The Answer problematic but I know some people did. I am playing Episode Aigis right now and I usually also play TH-cam in background when grinding my way through the dungeons.
Finished the DLC last night and oh... oh the feels. I only ever played Portable so I didn't know much about The Answer (I read some plot details on the Wiki in passing but that's about it), but I gotta say I am pretty happy (in a "bawling my eyes out bc why do you have to traumatize these beautiful children even further" kind of way) with what we got here. The gameplay worked well (I didn't even notice the spike in difficulty even though I played both the main game and DLC on Normal), but I sure was glad they gave us the additional little character moments because I found myself missing the social sim parts of the main game dearly after hours of mindless dungeon crawling (I even paused my playthroughs for a few hours to finally clear RE4's Separate Ways DLC as a palette cleanser - which is saying a lot, considering how much I love the P3 cast). I agree that it would have been even better to have the new character interactions voiced as well, but I assume that they had to give up on that due to time/budget constraints. Even if most of the enemies and combat was recycled, I'm pretty sure development consumed enough time and money already. As for Joker... cool job, but I don't know if I'll ever try that fight again after him wiping the floor with me yesterday 😂 I was like: Yeah, nah, I'd like to know how the story ends in this lifetime - other than that, I found the challenges mostly fair - I did have a few game overs, a few seemingly endless battles and a few Armageddon-Spams bc I was getting so tired of the fight, but as someone who tends to prefer chill experiences over challenges, it did seem solidly balanced. (unlike that other DLC I played the other day *insert salty gamer noises here*)
For me I think Margaret would of been a better choice than Joker. I know that was a Portable thing, but considering Episode Aigis added a lot of FES things in this DLC, Margaret would of been a nice crumb for Portable fans especially with Elizabeth back and the fact that the Liz stuff is referenced and canon in Arena, just idk.

P3 fans hating Yukari in the answer or seeing P5 fans get mad because they are told Akechi and Joker aren’t gay but it’s Akechi finally having a friend and enjoying what he missed his whole life
@@Averagejon95 the "Akechi did nothing wrong" outdoes both of those group for me
Congratulations on being shown love from the gods above! That's super awesome.
Awesome. Glad to see you more than once a month, Buns!
Thanks for still uploading content! Love your videos
I am so glad you are back! Please post more! I have missed you so much🫶🏼
Thanks Atlus-kun & Butter-chan. It's nice to see your thoughts so early.
Two ponderings in a single month?! We are blessed
All hail the Bun!
WHAT???? 2 VIDEOS IN LESS THEN A MONTH??? HAS CHRISTMAS COME EARLY THIS YEAR??!????
A friend livestreams the answer last night.
I have "don't" on loop for 4 hours at work today.
Buns uploads "the answer" video tonight.
Me: I HAVE SUMMONED HER!
XD
Me watching this video not having P3R wondering where the MC is during all of this:
👁️👄👁️
Thank you Atlus and Sega for getting us more Buns
God damm buns! Feels good to see you working so hard! Thanks!
I was just watching a P3R review video and then you uploaded, welcome back queen!
Mama buns has blessed us with 2 videos in one month LETS GO!!
Just made it home from the fair to see Buns has released yet ANOTHER video?! Christmas came early y’all!!!!
I absolutely loved this game and it's dlc. Outstanding
Love that you got sponsored for that. Very likely to get The Answer when I beat P3R.
Can't think of someone who deserves it more than you~
4:19 his va would definitely do that as a bit
BABE WAKE UP NEW SUPERBUTTER-
oh wait a live alone
Man that twinkie's voice is buttery smooth.
Glad butterbuns got sponsored otherwise we would have gotten this video next year
Do Not The Robot
I will the robot.
CLANK CLANK CLANK
10:32 we all know what she’s talking about right?
Shadow makoto death
I’m gonna be a contrarian here, I actually liked what they were going for in that cutscene in reload in the og while it was good it was more like “damnnn look how painful and gorey that looks” while in reload it’s more about How Aigis reacts to it
@@TheRawyan I do agree it does fit the situation a bit more
@@mariatukoroma3900think it’s more of a tone difference that separates itself from older games, p1 and 2 have a lot of creepy shock moments like a full scene of showing you p1’s final boss and the general reaction ends up as “what the fuck is that!? Who designed this!?” And me describing it wouldn’t make it better
Yeah **shudders**
I really enjoy your work. Thank you.
MOM, Wake up! SuperButterBuns just uploaded!
Welcome back buns! We love you and your thoughts!
There’s also this thing where you’ll scan enemies, see their defenses, then get a random reflect to a damage type they don’t have a reflect stat on.
Mom came back with the milk already
Altus n’ Sega sponsoring you feels so right
we’re so close to an arena remake. godspeed P-Studio
So, what you're saying is, if I complain loudly enough, father Atlus will hear me that I want P3P remade so we can have a definitive version?
I kind of wish the secret boss was related to p1 or one of the p2s
Woulda been a neat way to sorta gauge interest in remake/updates of those games.
It kinda makes sense that Aigis would only have a single sad expression, when you consider that she _is_ a robot. Yes, a robot with a soul and full sapience, but a machine nonetheless. That may be as far as the technology could get with her expression wise in universe.
Would you ever make a video about SMT V Vengance ? Or Metaphor ?
Yay! My favorite carb filled youtuber got sponsored! I'll get around to The Answer eventually, just no time to play it right now
I JUST FINISHED THE OTHER PERSONA 3 VIDEO NOT EVEN AN HOUR AGO. THE BUNS RESEARCH DIVISION IN BUSINESS!
The Playstation update yesterday lost about 4 hours of my gameplay and I didn't save.
So for me it was the definitive The Answer experience lol 🙃
Also, thank you Atlus-SEGA.
Fucking Velma chilling with the gang got me so bad
Not me eating a red white and blue popsicle when she said that 😅
I always loved "The Answer" and Episode Aigis is a slightly new improved version of it, so I take it!
Its still a snooze
@@CrimsonBladezz ? You mean the challenge, grind and time commitment? Yeah, I like to compare it to New Game+ is a additional story mode where you go way beyond and you work your way through to get the additional story elements.
I never fiund this aspect of The Answer problematic but I know some people did. I am playing Episode Aigis right now and I usually also play TH-cam in background when grinding my way through the dungeons.
Womp womp @@CrimsonBladezz
If it wasn’t sold as dlc I probably would have like it.
(unlike that other DLC I played the other day *insert salty gamer noises here*)
Bread Mother has blessed us yet again!!!
Or FemC, but that was never going to happen haha.
Aigis's Last Surprise
Double comeback this month from Buns GAHDAMN
What animated curscene is different? What was she referring to?

4:50 Velma, what are you doing there?
Velma is my favorite P3R character
we have to get her more sponsors
this is the only way we can get more videos on time
