I agree with the first part, but what do you mean more knowledge? There was already a ton of content that covered events between episodes 3 and 4. The entire Force Unleashed multimedia project was meant to be this. There were also a ton of comics and books that tied in. A few other games made references to this period as well including Empire at War, the aforementioned Battlefront, Star Wars Galaxies, Star Wars X-Wing and Star Wars Lethal Alliance.
