Moza KS Wheel Review - The Best Moza Wheel Yet

- It's low-priced, stacked with features, well proportioned, good-looking and superbly built. It puts Moza's previous wheels to shame and I like it. A lot.

They’ve knocked it out of the park with this one, the blank buttons with semi-transparent stickers are something I’ve suggested to them quite a few times now. 11/10.
Honestly just such a simple solution - the previous baked-in buttons with predetermined labels is surely MORE effort and LESS useful, so common sense prevails!
Nice review!
I own the GT wheel with the R9 and I agree, it looks like they listened to feedback. My biggest issue with the GT wheel was the issue where several buttons would stop working. It stopped same week I got it and sent it back for a replacement. Soon after I sent mine in, I noticed a help article posted on the site regarding that issue which is good to see they saw the problem and were willing fix it. Ever since then, I have had no issues with the wheel and it's been great!
Totally agree, they have taken notice of the things we didn't like, and things we did. If they carry on like this, they will be onto a winner!
These guys seem to really listen to what the community wants and are proactive to it aye!
This one is an instant pre-order for me. I'm securing this wheel before I even buy my Moza wheelbase. It impressed me so much because it's finally time we have an affordable GT style rim. :D
It's exactly what I hoped would someday come!
This wheel in my opinion has put Moza untop as the best ecosystem. the last hold out was the Mclaren v2 wheel which this just one-upped. Better value all round.
The fact it's pretty much the same cost as a Mclaren V2 with QR1 is all you have to say - this thing is superb
I had at CS V2P it's been great for oval on iRacing. But now I'm getting into gt racing I needed something more geared towards road racing.
I just unpacked this. Pretty happy with the quality to be honest.
Can't wait to tune it in and try it out.
Great detail in your review I haven’t heard in others. Well done 👍🏼 subscribed
Thanks man, appreciated
I just ordered this wheel for my R5. Like driving GT cars in ACC and AMS2 so this wheel is perfect for me. And the price is great!
Ace - let us know what you think when you get it
@@dannyleeracingmine just arrived and wow🤯 it’s actually beautiful in person. It’s so sturdy and well built.
i got the r9 and this wheel a few days ago and replaced a csl dd 8nm. i got sick of Fanatec in case of there qr1 and lite version and the pricing. formula wheels are to small, no gt wheel in good quality. McLaren is cheap but not realy good. im very satisfied with this moza system. recommended!
Hi Danny, would you mind sharing with us how you mapped your buttons? what do the left and right arrows do, why do you need the neutral, park and team radio (are these functions you use often or standins for other functions? Cheers!
Agreed with the review. Moza's KS wheel got me deep into simracing. Amazing wheel. It has many features of the most high end wherls and it is still affordable.
The Moza KS was a good one! Simagic's new NEO wheel seems to be another step up but I've not yet had one to test
Just bought the r9 bundle and a gt omega prime lite cockpit. This ks wheel is my missing part. Soon as I can save up $$$. Unless @moza wants to send me 1 for free lol. Awesome review
Just label all my buttons as TOW.
Thx for the review. But how do grips feel? The GS grips looks more comfortable to me.
GS grips are more comfortable just due to being suede, but the KS grips are still decent
@@dannyleeracing Thanks for the reply. Well I actually meant how is it compared to the GS with mcrofiber leather because I tested that one before.
Are you using the Logitech g29 pedals at 0:49? If so how did you get them to work with your moza wheel
They're connected to a Logitech G Adapter! A fairly new bit of kit that allows standalone use of the pedals. You can also use a Leo Bodnar cable to do the same job.
@@dannyleeracing Next question... why? 👀
@@Christophe_L I'm giving the Truebrake mod the ultimate test!
I have to admit that the wheel is looking very clean, but unfortunately this wheel is not made from actual carbon fiber. If you take a close look, it looks like an aluminium/polymer case that has been textured too look like CF. around the 1:28 mark, there is a close-up shot on the BB dial where you can clearly see what I mean.
True carbon fiber composites have the fibers captured within a matrix, where the outside layer always has a smooth surface, where on this wheel it looks a bit textured.
The product spec says 'Carbon Fiber Reinforced Composites' and the outer surface is dead smooth - I'm no materials expert so I can't confirm myself, but if you take the Fanatec Mclaren V2 which definitely *is* just plastic textured to look like carbon fibre, there's a different finish entirely on the KS. Either way, it's very nicely done!
Great review as always, do you know of a problem with the new R12 and ACC as I've watched quite a few reviews and no one is on ACC I have heard about FFB dropout in ACC as its all I play it's the only thing stopping me ordering this combo.
I've heard the latest firmware has had a bit of trouble, but I haven't been keeping up with it! My R12 seems totally fine, but I use it in iRacing first and foremost so it might not be affecting me
@@dannyleeracing Thankyou for the reply if you hear anything would you be so kind to post here please.
Great review... buuuut.... what's with the chickens at 3:05???
I just bought my GS v2 about a month ago, not knowing they'd release this one now, for 200€ less.
Though I do have to say I prefer the shape and look of the GS, including the 5 rotary knobs instead of 3, I might have gone for the KS instead, mostly because of price and weight, given that I am currently on an r5 and won't upgrade to an r12 or r16 before I have a rig.
I got the GSv2 a little over a month ago as well. Definitely would have grabbed this if it was available.
the gs wheel need some adapter to use onde the R5?
@@giuliog.b.6057 Nope, just clack it on.
Can`t wait to get this for my Simucube 2 Pro with the Universal Hub from Moza. This is exactly what i wanted . A 300mm formula style with dual clutch paddles. I have the Ascher F28 SC V2 and is too heavy , too small (280 mm) and has no dual clutch paddles.
r5 or r9 which one to choose as a starter but with no plan for upgrades? as a complete beginner that played with mouse steering i have no idea on FFB...and because of LFM in Assetto Corsa i can finally focus on getting racing equipment...
I'd say you're better off going with an R9 if you don't plan to upgrade again - the R5 is a good starting point but you will definitely eventually get the urge to upgrade from it
I have had wheel since it came out and I love it. I'm actually buying another one cause paddles broke on first wheel and they haven't done much to help. Either way when working it's great.
That's not good! Tell us more about who you ordered from and the timeline of things
I feel better about my purchase of the Moza KS Wheel after watching the review. Honestly, I really prefer bang for the buck, especially for my sim racing gear. It's hard to justify $500+ for a wheel let alone $1000 for the ultra premium ones.
Can you adjust the brightness of the buttons, or only the color?
Man the quality looks crazy compared to the fanatec esports f1 and similar price, I love the f1 looks but damn the KS might be the way to go
it looks also a lot like Red Bull's old steering wheel which was just so cool
I wonder how much this will eat into the market of the GS and to a lesser degree the FSR.
It does indeed look like by far the best bang for buck GT/Formula wheel Moza have released thus far.
It might even prove to be their most popular wheel next to the ES.
Looking forward to your review of the R12 as well. ;)
As an aside, could you see there being room between the SRP and CRP pedals for an “SRP Pro / CRP Lite” set (to go along with the R12)?
The R12 is great, I'm using it and it's beating the paste out of me, so I don't find myself wanting any more force!
The SRP pedals are great and don't need much improvement, but they could perhaps release one with a higher capacity load cell!
I think they will keep the GS around for the forseeable future, but may eventually discontinue it. I think the FSR wheel does the same thing the KS wheel does for an entirely different price bracket, so its spot is secure in the market for a while. I think as time goes on Moza will phase out the Gen 1 products as newer offerings are released.
love the wheel, love the chickens!
The price is right & looks fantastic!
It's my favourite wheel in part BECAUSE it's cheap yet achieves so much. I respect functional wheels with low price tags.
r12 review when? great video btw. id probably buy if i didnt already have a r305 for my cs wheel
The R12 is like the R9 after receiving some very good news
I guess i found my next wheel, thx gor the great video
Thanks man - it's awesome
Would it work in simmagic? I mean considering they use basically the same qr?
I use Simagic simply because I found there products (specifically wheel rims) to be much more aesthetically appealing, one of the biggest things being the rev light, but now that I’m looking into moza again, just to see what updates they’ve made, the ks looks realllly good
There’s a new Simagic wheel coming, just the same
If anyone is looking for a real feedback on this because I'm feeling that people are a bit too biased on this.
I bought the KS Wheel + GS V2 wheel (Leather version) along with the R9 and R12 wheelbases.
The GS wheel is far superior in terms of quality and feels.
The KS feels like a toy, the button have a "nice" feedback to it, but feel really cheap compared to the GS wheel.
I also thought the plastic handles would be better but they ended up hurting me more than anything.
The only real "advantage" of the KS is the sexy LED RPM bar.
The shifter are quieter but also feels cheap compared to the GS.
But hey, for 300e, KS is a good wheel, but really not a better version from the GS.
About the R9 vs R12 : definitely go for R12 if you can as it doesn't heat as much and have that sweet spot of FFB you'll love.
I have the Moza CS v1 and Turn R305 rim on it. Do you reckon it's even worth looking at the KS? It looks a bit cheaper in build quality than even the CS button box. If it released a year ago I'd be all over it but not sure now!
I'd say you've got everything you need right now so no big need to upgrade - however, if you just liked the look of the KS then that's another matter and it'd be worth switching!
@@dannyleeracing You are a smarter man than me and my wallet. Probably right, and the R305 is versatile enough!
@@Emmo2g But the KS can with 3rd wheel base and like to know which one!
@@sorrowinchrist3387 Any of them
I don't know if you're still replying to comments but does the wheel work with Logitech peddles? I saw you using logi peddles and I really don't want to go through the hassle of having to spend an extra $200 for Moza peddles
Yeah, you can use the Logitech G adapter or a Leo Bodnar cable to connect the logitech pedals directly to PC without the base
If price wasn’t a factor, would you pick the KS or GS?
When I'm sitting down to race, it's the KS every time.
Would you recommend getting this or the new GS GT V2P.
I'd say the KS personally!
@@dannyleeracing why? Because of the buttons?
Any comments about
1) the fake carbon look ... ?
2) the rotary buttons and joysticks still not visible in the dark (like the GS and the FSR) and not consistent with backlit buttons ... ?
(not even phosphorescent stickers around them ...)
You do know that there is a big price gap? Everything this wheel has, no other company offers and yet, people are not happy. 🤔🤔🤔
@@arivasu1759 I do not say that it is a bad product and yes the price is fair.
But the question is : is it an honnest review or an other advertising for Moza ?
Have you tried this wheel on your Moza R5? Would love to know your thoughts. I really want to get this wheel...once it is available here in South Africa.
There should be no reason the KS won't be an excellent wheel for the R5 - it's lightweight and fully compatible, so it should be all guns blazin'
which Moza base do you use?
I change all the time, but the base in use here is the R12, which is excellent, perfect strength level
Sent mine back if you have long thumbs be warned the shifter paddles will hit your thumbs and in some cases make it difficult to shift as your thumb is in the way.
What the hell is going on with fanatec? seems like they are in some sort of shock rigidity.
Would the shifter silencer pads be removeable for those of us who like the loud metallic clunk?
You could scrape them off, but they're not massively thick anyway so they may not have much of an effect
Can I buy this with Fanatec Universal Adapter and use with GT DD Pro on my PS5?
I want to play gt7 with this
r9, r12 or fanatec csl dd whats better?
R12 would be my choice, but of all the 12nm bases I've tried the Asetek La Prima is the best
does it work with simhub if connectet thru USB?
I don't believe there is any simhub compatibility at all with Moza, yet
@@dannyleeracing you are right
Could I use this wheel with the asetek invicta wheelbase and asetek qr wirelessly?
I don't think you'll be able to use it wirelessly as the data connector looks proprietary and isn't just a USB connector - not 100% on this but I'm doubting it.
How does it go with R5? Would it be too heavy?
no you should be completely fine with the ks and an r5 👍
It will be perfect for the R5!
How does it feels on F1 game? Or is it mostly for GP
I don't play the F1 games so I can't tell you from experience, but I can see no reason why it won't be perfect for it
Helo helo ,,.moza super design , and thrustmaster t gt2. Race wheel super 👍😀😀😀
Does it work with ps5??? Can't find if yes or no
Not officially - anyone that gets a Moza setup working on Playstation has done so with third party stuff that might break/stop working at any time whenever Sony pleases
How did you meke the rpm led to work
The Pit House software must be running for the wheel to receive the RPM data. If it's running, what game are you using?
I imagine it’s really difficult to make these console compatible... otherwise why aren’t they compatible with PS5. Is it due to Fanatec having manufacture agreements so no one else with DD enters the space. Would love to know someone’s thoughts. Thanks in advance.
This would most likely be specific demands from Sony & Microsoft. There are different versions with different compatibility.
From Moza's perspective, their customization through software is a big selling point. They lose that on console while getting a price increase due to the license agreement. At that point, Fanatec becomes competitive again.
@@marksanyal thanks
It's going to be licensing or legal agreements with Sony/Microsoft - console compatibility would be such a huge market that there has to be a very good, strong reason why they can't do it yet
Is this wheel comparable with an Xbox or is this a PC only wheel?
PC only, this one
The wheel is a dream. Getting a bit greedy here, but one question. Can I attach the KS to the Cammus 15 NM for a very nice racing setup under $800?
You can use the wheel with any other base but you just need an adapter
By adapter I mean a different quick release
Yes, you'll just need the Universal Hub and 3rd Party Adaptor as seen in this video!
So if I want to use this KS Wheel in my t300 do I need yo buy the universal Moza Hub (59$) and the Thrustmaster QR?? Thankss
@@pablinxi2057 There is QR adaptor for T300RS out there, so yes, it's possible.
Rubber grips might go yucky after many years unless you wear gloves or clean sweat off regularly
Unfortunately its the only wheel with paddles too close to the grips and the only wheel that doesn't allow it to be adjusted, unlike their other wheels. The grips are quite slim too, so best for those planning to purchase it, to try it out first.
Definitely seen this mentioned a couple times, so while it didn't affect me, I agree that the paddles are pretty close and could be a problem for some
Is it usable on Xbox?
Not natively, not right now at least - it might work with an xbox with the help of a third party adapter but that's as far as my knowledge goes unfortunately
Listen to feedback. Get gud.
Fanatec - why didn't we think of that?
See I thought it looks like the Williams wheel they used late 10s
I might be alone, but I think this is THE best looking Moza wheel so far, looks much better than the GS and the other with a screen that I just forgot the name
You are deffo not alone!
Is anyone using this wheel with either rfactor 2 o automobilista 2 I can't make it work
Does it work in any other game?
@@dannyleeracing yes no problem with ACC , F1 23
Rf2 shows r9 base with pedals preset but the wheel doesn't register turning left or right I make everything else to work
Did you manage to get this working? Im using it for AMS2 and Rfactor and everything works fine
@chrissyboy7047 I did gound a guide somewhere I don't remember where 😅 it was a weird process but it works
Ask Moza for pedal next time
😏 th-cam.com/video/gsyosUdWeTk/w-d-xo.html
Its not carbon fiber. Its plastic that looks like carbon fiber 😉
It's important to stress that 'carbon fibre reinforced composites' does not mean CARBON FIBRE. It just means 'plastics that contain carbon fibre'
Moza's own spec sheet states that it's 'Carbon Fibre Reinforced Composite' so that's what I've gotta go by.
Definitely not perfect! Moza is dumb why put abs knob on the right and tc on the left? That is backwards! Tc if for gas which is on the right and and is for brake which is the left side
Your Wrong ❌ It's very Perfect! Also you hate Moza alot
I don’t think so. I am keeping my Fanatec rims close by. Too much Plastic for me. Screw Moza. Get back to me in 5 years.
i heard ppl that think that plastic makes them slower are the ones that think stickers make ur car faster. go for it buddy!! ;-) wtf ohh 5 years cuz thats the shipping time with fanatec, oh ok, nice one haha keep ur wobbling wheel buddy
At least my quick release works
