  • Testing the Nivea Creme moisturiser on my oily skin to see if this viral skincare sensation is really worth the hype. Nivea Creme review.
Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin. Today I am trying the Nivea Creme moisturiser to work out whether it is worth the hype which is seems to be getting online at the moment.
Often called a La Mer dupe the nivea creme moisturiser is a super thick and occlusive moisturising cream which has been around for decades. Some people love it and others say its not safe for the skin, so what's the truth?
I tested the nivea cream on my skin for the past month to put it through its paces and wanted to share with you the pros and cons of this winter moisturiser.
Overall this was way way too thick for my oily skin and I think it would be better for a drier skin type but the ingredients looked good and the price point offers the best drugstore skincare pricing. I wont be repurchasing as nivea is not a cruelty free brand and this product was packed full of fragrance which is not something which appeals to me with a leave on moisturiser but it will all come down to personal preference.
I share with you my experience with the Nivea Cream and my Nivea Creme before and after so let me know your own experiences.
I would love to know your thoughts on this product so let me know in the comments section below.

    It’s been around along time.
I have been using it since I was 16 and I’m now 47. It’s best at night due to the thickness. Best for dry skin.

I must tell you, years ago I had an accident and I was left with a very large scat the length of my fore arm, from wrist to elbow. Anyway, once the stitches came out, the surgeon told me to use Nivea on it everyday! The scar healed beautifully! Say no more!!

I actually have fairly oily skin and I’ve been using it for a year now. Weirdly it doesn’t break me out, in fact it leaves my skin feeling really nice and clean in the morning (I use it at night). It’s the last thing I put on after my serums and my skin has never looked or felt better.

It's that it's old school is what I love about it. It smells like Nana and that makes me happy. I use nivea in the winter with the central air and the arid frigid winters we have here in Canada. I use Eucerin Q10 face cream on my face and nivea for the body.

I do use this but I do have normal to dry skin and winter time super dry so this does help my skin type . My sister has oily skin and it would be too much moisture for her skin type so she using a more lighter moisturizer so her skin doesn’t get oily .. so it does depends on the skin type

I grew up in Lebanon and every woman had Nivea on their dressing table and used it all over their face daily. But its important to note that German made is far more superior (ingredient wise) than the ones made in Mexico. Just recently I bought a can made in Germany which was not easy to find but i"m so glad I got it and I love using it, it feels so rich on the skin.

You really shouldn’t use any Nivea products because they have a lot of fragrance in them which can lead to contact dermatitis. You could have been using the same cream with Fragrance for 6 years and not notice anything. Then suddenly you are getting reactions and your skin gets sensitive to all the other ingredients in the cream

I would give this a pass as its fragranced which is not the best option for eczema xx

I heard there are Made in USA and made in Germany. I’m not sure how they formulated differently. The one I use is in a tin, made in Germany. It’s the only affordable cream that help me my Tretinoin peeling and irradiating situation. I sandwich with cetaphil lotion then Tretinoin then this Nivea cream. noticed the grandma skin care fragrance which I don’t really mind. But definitely not for oily skin and avoid eye area if your are prone to getting milia.

Hi hun , I found this out today and I thought the German formulation was the only one but that makes sense that they are different but it is a little confusing.. sending you lots of love x

I've worked with the elderly for 25+ years, and when I see a good complexion, I always ask what's your secret? Almost every reply is "Nivea".
Personally, I prefer the Nivea Soft.

My mum used this for most of her life and her skin is great at 89 years of age! I remember she used to put it on us on the beach when we were kids and we used to burn to a crisp!!! A few years ago I worked with a girl who only put that on her face and she had lovely skin so I had to try it…..no no no, oily skin, humid conditions, perfume…not for me!!

In my case I only use Nivea Creme when my skin feels flaky and dry, and i only apply this only on nightime (because it can be hot on skin especially where I live) and somehow it did help my skin. But I don't use it as a daily moisturizer because I might get breakouts from it 😅.

WHat peopel gets wrong is that Nivea is more of a balm than a cream.
It needs quit a small quantity and it can be used targeted for sensitive or dry areas. It's not for everyday and not for everyone, but that doesn't mean it's something wrong with the product..

My mom will turn 50 this year and has oily skin. She has been using this Nivea cream from her college life. It suits her, she religiously applies it evey night. She looks like she's just in her late 30s and has such a flawless skin.
