    I hated the power reserve when I first saw Grand Seikos, but it has grown on me as a design feature that has become their trademark (like Rolex’s cyclops). I’d rather a brand have a distinct and polarizing feature rather than a ‘just another watch’ lack of personality.

      The 3:00 date is the real flaw, in my view…move it to 6:00 & get ride of the power reserve, or, better, just keep the power reserve which would be an interesting dial element on an otherwise balanced dial. Great watches, have owned quite a few and always impressive

    Tim, you are always hitting it out of the park! Very enjoyable show, sorry I am always catching up on the repeat. I would love to hear your thoughts on the watches that were once considered uncool, but are now the cat's meow and vice versa, a reversal of fortune themed episode. The people who say Grand Seiko watches are too big haven't seen a new Grand Seiko for a good year or two. Mine is a 40mm but wears smaller. I think it wears very well . I am not a Grand Seiko Fan Boy but out of my quite large collection I have one and I am extremely happy with my purchase.

    The only down side is no micro adjustment! It is simply inexcusable at this price point.

    I was told the titanium Grand Seiko bracelet uses pins and sleeves to stop titanium pins from cross threading. Although Tuidor use titanium screwed pins on the Pelagos I still think pins and sleeves are ok. I am also ok with how light the titanium Grand Seiko is, as I have other titanium and forged Carbon watches. I don't think a watch has to feel heavy on my wrist to be top quality. My AP forged Carbon is definitely good quality and the Grand Seiko feels fine to me too.

    • @mtbkmaniac1
      @mtbkmaniac1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Regarding the pins and sleeves. My opinion is that it isolates wear to the pins and collars and can be replaced. 2nd, titanium on titanium can stick or bind the links.

    The bracelets on Grand Seikos are such a disappointment, it is such a shame after some incredible watches. The watch faces are works of art.
    That's why you have to try on watches before you buy.
    Thank you Tim for the honesty.

    • @Jack-is9sm
      @Jack-is9sm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The clasps aren't great, but there is a half link either side of the clasp so you can size the bracelet so it fits perfectly, and how you like a bracelet to fit. The titanium bracelet might feel flimsy but they are actually stronger than steel. A lot of people just equate weight being of higher quality. After wearing a few titanium watches and a forged Carbon watch, I have got used to lighter watches and knowing they aren't inferior quality.

    • @Jack-is9sm
      @Jack-is9sm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Grand Seiko I own looks far better on the bracelet than a strap. I normally put most watches I buy on a good quality after market strap, (apart from my Rolex watches), but as mentioned my cherry blossom dial Grand Seiko looks far better on the bracelet. Feels extremely comfortable too.

    • @mtbkmaniac1

    Suggestion: with the release of the IWC Mark XX, it might be interesting to see the T Mosso review of the current state of field style watches. Something you can wear camping, swimming, climbing, anywhere. Rugged, screwdown crown, solid caseback, robust movement etc. But not bulky like a diver, as you don’t want it catching on backpack straps, sleeping bags and other gear! You also don’t want that sharp knurled bezel ripping an expensive poly jacket etc. My picks would be the IWC mark XX or the airking. Yes, both are technically pilot’s watches, but fit this brief well, alongside classics like the hamilton khaki and explorer. Personally, Liking the new airking as smaller crown and crown guards make it less likely to dig into your wrist whilst active. Easy link would also be a godsend when building up a sweat. I could wear my G shock, but it’d be more fun wearing a mechanical!

    I’ve just picked up the white birch this week and loving it. No complaints with the bracelet it feels solid! Dunno if they have changed anything with evolution 9? I’ll have to send you a wrist shot.
    I also love rolex, so not believer in the suggestion that the brands collectors have animosity. I’m put off owning a rolex because I don’t want people asking how much my watch cost or because of the “other people factor” as I’ve heard you describe it.
    But design and build quality wise they are killer. Also easylink and glidelock is way ahead of the pack! I’ll stick to admiring Rolex in my watch books and enjoying the history of one of the best brands to ever do it!
    Keep the show going I love it! Also please feature my lovely FXD wrist shot i sent over a few weeks back at the cricket 😁😜

    GS's mix-and-match strategy with their models is unexciting. They come up with a few cases, hands & indices sets, and dial textures, then they release those in different combos and dial colors in their three movement lines.

    • @henkrpe3249
      @henkrpe3249 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Completely agree. Their dials are gorgeous, organic and romantic, and the majority of them feel completely out of place and dropped in to their razor sharp cases, hands and indices.
