    Update to my last comment, after 2015, they changed the design of the transmission on the patriots. it won't look like this and is difficult to get fluid into and check.

    My family has a 2008 compass. They wanted me to change the trans oil and filter. There are no leaks so I may buy a dip stick find the level at idle in park cold and hot and mark it accordingly. The other method is there is a level plug that needs to be removed and checked that way. I will have to do more research on where it is located and whether the engine should be running or stopped.
    Thanks for the video

    Thank you I have a Jeep compass 2007 also and it’s been having trouble the rpms go way up sometimes and then it won’t accelerate so i have to pull over turn it off and turn it back on and then it’s fine someone told me I need to go to an actual mechanic to get it checked and filled but don’t have that kind of money so thank you 🙏🏻

    Thank you for posting this. I got a 2007 dodge caliber and can't afford dealerships to check it. So researching and found your video and others. But yours is more detailed and helpful.

    but my 2016 doesn't have that handy fluid cap and tube. It's completely enclosed, with no way to add fluid easily.

      There has to be a way to put fluid in it and check the level. Maybe it's just a plug instead of a dipstick

    My trans took a dirt nap so i salvaged another used one. For some reason on the older years the trans tube comes ALL the way to the top so easy fill up. On the newer ones( at least on my 2012 and ive also seen on 2012) the tube is so damn short its almost impossible to get down in there to refill so i pulled an older long tube from a 2007 and put it on the transmission i got. My guess is they did that so its harder to find so you dont have braindeads putting engine oil in it or something

      Mine broke at the weld half way down to the transmission where bracket is beside the battery tray. I've heard others having the same problem. Dorman improved the design putting an isolator at that location. I wouldn't expect Jeep to admit to their design flaw

    So you just ram the dipstick down the tube?

    • @GrimeTimeWithKenny
      @GrimeTimeWithKenny  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you ram it it'll bottom out and bend giving you a false reading. You want it to just touch the bottom.

      My Patriot is reading between 45 and 60, depending on where the transmission is selected. At 150* Fahrenheit, this is WAY too high. Should be in the 32 ish range. Any ideas why this would be? Just too much fluid?

    I appreciate the initiative but if you don’t have the proper tool to read trans temp you don’t need to be doing the job.. I just got a Toyota that came into my shop from another where the tech did this and fucked up the transmission.

      Well the manufacturer should have designed it to be serviceable including a way to check the level is correct. If you can make a more professional instructional video, then go ahead. Otherwise we will have to do our best troubleshooting and solving our issues in an affordable way.

    • @OHHyaKnow
      @OHHyaKnow 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gottahavegoalsset there is a way to check fluid level and a way to service the transmission. If you don’t know what you’re doing it’s best to just have a real mechanic do it.
