      I love taking a gimmick and building it out. I don't know if they're quite as stretched as this, but I have Morophon 5c elementals with only basic forests for lands (and every "so 5c but..." has a card that disproves it. It's a true 5c deck, in every sense you can argue). That's probably my silliest atm, but I'm also tinkering with Adamaro voltron wheels. They're a */* where * is greatest number of cards in an opponents hand, so you wheel, force draws, pump Adamaro exclusively through forcing people to draw cards

    I personally would run Folk Hero, Agitator Ant, and Orzhov Advokist to execute the gameplan and stall making eowyn impact more on etb. Goes along with the goad or can't hurt me theme. Crescendo of War is great too combined with a source of flash or instant flicker. Great deck!

    Would having the etb go on the stack, activating and resolving a -X/-0 ability, then copying the original etb that is still on the stack (via strionic resonator, lithoform or return the favor) work? Or am I fundamentally wrong lol
    (Assuming the first trigger has a legal target)

    • @HungryOnPlane
      @HungryOnPlane  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No that would work! That's actually really sweet.
      The trick there is Strionic saying (like all the other similar effects) "you may choose new targets for the copy".
      Now that Eowyn has a much lower power you have a much higher number of possible legal targets.

    • @Aedi
      @Aedi 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      that would absolutely work, but feels like somehow far more hoops than stickers

  • @TrixyTrixter
    @TrixyTrixter หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Umm. I assume you already know but seeing you show off -1/-1 counters and an activated ability yo lpwer her power so far. You realize those would not work right? Since her ability must target a creature with greater power meaning as she enter it goes on the stack and you must select a legal target before you can use those to lower her power.
    Edit: Ok he talks about it now. Time to see how he fixes this!

    To bring some intelligence to the stupidity, we can use maths to see that we don't need 10 sticker sheets that give 1-power. We need 1 or more in the 3 we draw, so if we used 8 sheets with a 1-power sticker, we can guarantee we hit one, and have 2 sheets that may have other stickers that are nice to have on them (to take advantage of already having sticker stuff)
    7 actually has less than a 1% chance of not hitting one of the 1-power sheets, so a pretty safe gamble.
    6 has 3.33%
    5 has ~8% chance, so realistically going to see misses but not often (and having one or more of the others having a 2-power sticker we can still get most of the same results on the chance we miss
    4 gets it up to a 16ish % chance, which is ~1/8 games is a miss. Less so if we're comfortable using the 2-power sheets to buff these numbers.
    So, there's actually a lot of room to add other sheets with other effects. They won't generally be consistent, but can certainly add a lot of options. I'm going to have a look and see if there's any that seem worthwhile, but we can get 2 for free, and as many as 4 and still be fairly consistent

    • @Aedi
      @Aedi 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Had a look, the ones I like the most are:
      Night Brushwagg Ringmaster - it gives persist, which a) makes Nelly potentially a 0-power, but is also a 2-power sheet, meaning it can also make her a 1-power if she dies. And the sheer amount of flicker to remove the -1/-1 counter makes her nigh indestructible. Mostly like it for synergising with the other ones I like
      Deep-Fried Plague Myr - has artifact/enchantment removal on ltb (notably not dies, ltb) makes Eowyn a very well rounded source of removal. the scry on attack also seems useful in games where you're struggling with cards
      Giant Mana Cake - "when this creature dies, you may destroy target nonland permanent" - death is a bigger hoop to jump through but makes Eowyn a hilarious blocker, with noone wanting to kill her. With NBR you can kill her, she comes back, potentially as a 0-power, and you flicker her to reset. Remove a nonland, noncreature, and a 1-power creature
      and finally Yawgmoth Merfolk Soul - target player discards a card on ltb adds hand attack, which can add a remarkable amount of control. Force everyone else to sandbag some cards. It also has "make 5 1/1 tokens on ltb" which can be helpful for ending a game, or stalling out against an aggressive opponent.
      That's 4 of them, one is a 2-power sheet. Giving us a 99.2% chance of having a 1-power OR 2-power sticker sheet. and a 96.7% chance of a 1-power sheet specifically. Those odds seem pretty good, 3 good effects and 1`effect that adds a lot of resiliency and synergy for the other 2 effects.
      or go find your own set, but yeah, I highly encourage not just picking 10 1-power sheets. Play around and have fun with them

    • @HungryOnPlane
      @HungryOnPlane  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Aedi This is true! Thanks for all the maths.
      I knew this going in but truthfully I was too lazy to read all the sticker sheets LOL.
      Also turns out I misread one of them so we actually only have nine sheets that give one power.
      Your point stands though, we have a sticker slot we can optimize, appreciate the suggestions!

    In March I finally decided to build Braids Arisen Nightmare. It has become my favorite deck. It started as a 50 buck deck and now is between 80-100 with only upgrading slot for slot stronger versions of cards.
    The deck is just so amazing. Turn 1/2 you play your creature fodder slot card that comes back from graveyard to battlefield. Turn 3 bring out our Goddess Braids end step sacrifice fodder. You burn each opponent for 2 damage and draw 3 cards.
    The main goal of my version of the deck is that it is full of edicts. No one is allowed creatures aside from me. That is cause my opponents aren't members of our cult, uhh I mean religion!
    Braids combines my two favorite parts of magic. Burning faces and controling the board. All in a cute waifu mono black package.
    My version is budget but if you focus on optimizing it you could easily make it a swamp matters goodstuff as your filler cards.
    My friends all hate the deck cause it is insanely strong and competes with their $200-400 decks and my alternate wincon of nontoken creatures dying triggers means you can't reliably keep me from doing my thing. Either I draw and slowly burn you dead or I get insane value from aristocrats while still controling the board from creatures.

Mostly using sidedeck to refer to a pile of cards separate from the library. It has Attractions, Contraptions, Tokens, Wish Board, Lands (for SR), and Stickers. I can't find the specific comp rule to address this but in the scenario I was describing it would help. NOSB is a static effect so it'll always effect Eowyn's power at the relevant time for her enters trigger.
      There's always a chance I'm wrong because Magic is very complicated but I'm fairly confident this one does work.

    My silliest deck has Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer as its commander. Its main tutor target is Painter's servant to make all cards and permanents black. The deck then plays a number of niche colour hate cards that are surprisingly effective once painter is in play. For instance Pygmy Kavu draws cards equal to the number of black creatures my opponents control. You can easily end up drawing 20 cards with that. Also, since Rocco is a Naya commander it means that every coloured card in my deck is now multicoloured which makes some multicolour matters cards absurdly strong (e.g. Tome of the Guildpact makes every spell into a cantrip). My favourite part is that the deck also has a "sideboard" where I can switch out the black colour hate for blue colour hate (enabling pyroblast/reb, seedtime as a bad meme and making Chaotic Backlash a game-ending burn spell).
