Lilly... What a beautiful addition to your outdoor survival series. Too many people like to throw anything away and buy a new one. That is something that is terribly wrong in today's world. I like old things... Tools, cars, machinery... I really enjoy browsing through junk stores (today called antique malls) and finding old tools, etc. , and refurbishing them and putting them back in working order. Thank you for starting this channel. I will definitely be subscribing. More, please.

Lily, the screwdriver is beautiful and restored to usefulness. Your Dad’s tools and shop are good quality, and I think he did a great job inspiring and teaching you. I’m old and getting a bit binked myself, but can still be of use, and I’d rather restore a tool than throw it away, in gratitude for it’s life time of service. I loved your use of what looked like a drill press as a lathe for the handle! Well done, kindred spirit!

Wow Lilly. I am speechless. That screwdriver just went from rusty and damaged to looking completely new from the store. That was amazing. Nice work, hope to see more in this series. One error in technique: when drilling into a piece don't hold it in your hand, use clamps or press-drill. The reason for this is stability - if your hand twitches you can damage both your hand and the piece.
    Beautiful end result.

Loved the drill press as a temporary lathe idea, also what type of oil did you use? I use walnut oil on all of my work as I like the way it looks once the oil has dried after a week or two. Not seen hessian twine used for burning marks onto wood like that before, I use fine braided wire that I have two small wooden handles to hold it with. Look forward to seeing more of these in the future.

Good work! I’m going to try that string burnishing sometime. Also thanks for stabilizing your work with a bottom pin in the drill press. I see many projects using a drill press as a lathe but allowing the work to simply “hang” and that puts undue, and potentially irreparable, stress on the drill press
