Restoration costs are always higher. The aim of restoration is emotional quotient, personal satisfaction. From pure engineering perspective restorations are a waste of effort and resources. But they are great and no better satisfaction to see an old damaged thing get back to former glory.
Nice restoration. A little more of an art project, looks great. I like the use of a valve to extend the handle & the polished finish. Repair, reuse, recycle is the theme of my channel. This restoration would fit right in. 👍👍 Stay safe, Joe Z
sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost the password. I love any tips you can offer me!
@Dalton Alessandro thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Dalton Alessandro HOLY **** IT ACTUALLY WORKED! Just got access to my IG login after roughly 40 minutes of using the site. I had to pay 15 bucks but definitely worth the price =) Thank you so much, you really help me out!
I will say that this work turned out very pretty, but I must highly doubt its long-term utility. Because you didn't weld, or otherwise securely fasten those screws to the shaft, the handle will be limited to the grip of the epoxy along the smooth shaft. Those screws will give an impression of grip and stress distribution, but they're simply sitting in the epoxy handle. If the curing epoxy didn't dissolve the hot glue while it cured, the hot glue remnants will also be weak areas along the shaft.
It's a good point, but inaccurate in the end. The torque is all inside the ferrule, not along the shaft, just like it was when the screwdriver had a wooden handle.
excelente.. usó una válvula de escape de motor, resina epoxica.. y un par de tornillos para la empuñadura.. transparente. llevo más trabajo enderezar el pico.. me encantó buen video..👍😁
Really a good DIY. But the cost of resin and bonding will be more. But to gain experience in restoration of old things and it's related molding will sure help us for other works of such items which cannot be obtained in the market.
That was the remnant of a block of polishing compound. The stuff gets picked up by the buffing wheel, then used up in polishing whatever the current project is. It's quite possible that the original block of it was 3 inches by 3 inches by 12 inches long, and has simply been used a great deal.
Due to its bad shape and the fact it was severely bent, I think you should have put all of it in the furnace to strengthen its all length and make sure it won't be bent easily again. I like your creativity with what you did with the handle. I wish you luck with your next restoration.👍
Should've kept the tip on the grinder for a bit longer and you could've made a screw you driver. Could double as a tool and a stabby stabby if you'd ever need to defend yourself in the shop.
That reminds me, I have the axe George Washington used to chop down the Cherry Tree. The handle has been replaced 3 times, and the head twice, but otherwise it’s the same axe.
Nice touch 2:12 mins . Using the pliers from a previous restoration. Good One.
I agree, very nice.

very interesting and creative restoration, but I think the restoration cost was much more than a new screwdriver
A new one would not be as satisfying .
yep, what I was thinking too ^_^
Each person has his or her own creativity, go and find yours, then you will understand.

Do one, but put a bunch or screws in handle. Like in all directions. Just a bunch. That would be cool. This one is cool also. Nice work
I will say that this work turned out very pretty, but I must highly doubt its long-term utility.

Screwdriver without handle < screwdriver with handle
that is cheap way make video and money from youtube
It's a good point, but inaccurate in the end. The torque is all inside the ferrule, not along the shaft, just like it was when the screwdriver had a wooden handle.
So cool to see an old, dumped tool is getting a new life. Well done Mr. Tool. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Flat head screws instead of Phillips would of been cool.
