You were supporting me, all this time! I first did this song as part of the Sonic Fan Medley I did back in 2014. This year, it was the #1 most requested remake from the Patreon May Madness ballot (tied with Beware the Forest's Mushrooms), and has also been placing quite highly in the public ballot for the past few years.
I've always loved this song, even more so after doing it in that old Sonic medley. I think it's a little bit better this time, though 😜. I based this arrangement mostly off of the original version, with a bit of Generations version influence thrown in as well.

Shadow's music tracks - the ones with lyrics, that is - were an enigma to me. I liked the rhythm, but out of the speaker of the CRT TV we used to have to play these games, it was too quiet to even begin to make sense of what was being spoken. Specifically, this theme was just kind of there for me, and I think if I would have been able to hear more of it, I would have liked it back then.
As time went on, I noticed this theme got overshadowed in discussion of SA2 music, which is what ultimately fueled my hype when I saw that it was being remade here. And, indeed, with a coat of metal and a boost in quality, I can say I'm a fan of the song. Still can't understand the lyrics... But I don't care about that so much anymore (I mean, one of my favorite bands is Dragonforce, for Pete's sake)
I feel one of the points of the song is to not hear the lyrics well. It fits shadow is SA2 as he too was a enigma. Sure NOW we know hes just... misunderstood or just a edgehog depending on the writer, but we didnt know back then.
Even playing the game today with headphones, it's hard to hear the lyrics. In Final Chase it's almost impossible lol

I think they come out clearer in the 3ds version. I prefer it, but I also like the remixes where they keep it this level of obscurity or even further obfuscate the vocals.

I realized a minute in this would take someone's voice, but saw no "ft." And you just absolutely blew me and surely many others away with your voice.

This is a fantastic cover. Musically, it's equal parts Sonic and Shadow, sort of representing how they teamed up together for the final battle. Fun fact - the Biolizard's main roar was made from Sonic and Shadow's Japanese screams (as in, Junichi Kanemaru and Koji Yusa screamed as Sonic and Shadow and their voices were mixed together and distorted). Not sure if there's any deeper meaning (there might be), but it's still freaky.
Isn't the scream just rehashed from Chaos from Adventure 1 lmfao
@@SleepyReapy32 One of them is, but the scream you hear in the cutscenes before and after the battle (i.e. the one where the Biolizard roars into the camera and then after when the Biolizard uses Chaos Control) are made up of Sonic and Shadow's screams.
I always assumed a part of Biolizard’s genetic structure was made of hedgehog DNA. X3
I thought that scream was from a cougar or panther.
@@Uyango I'm not talking about the scream from when you hit the Biolizard. The one I'm talking about is in the cutscenes. The first time you hear it is when the Biolizard roars into the camera and the second time is when the Biolizard uses Chaos Control after Shadow defeats him.

I just realised, this track has the same motif as Live and Learn at certain points-! Which makes sense, this is the same boss that we fight in the FinalHazard, which has Live & Learn as its soundtrack. And as such, this first fight with the BioLizard is like a Prelude, or a Phase One, and FinalHazard is Phase Two!
0:50 is where you can hear it come out most and I always get chills every time I listen to it.
Also, while probably unintentional, just as “I’m gonna be desperate” kicks in, the Guitar riffs follow an almost identical rhythm to “Thunder, Rain and Lightning. Danger: Water Rising”

Honestly it’s just depressing too me now that I’m older, like it’s a abomination of human creation that was made for a noble reason, but ultimately led up to so much strife gun killing Maria, shadow going insane with rage, and ending up with Eggman getting to into his grandfather’s legacy by accident, just sigh wow man, plus it’s just suffering on life support for christ sake, and probably wanting help, but it’s just a lizard at the end of the day so it can’t, besides it’s basically shadows brother.

That part in particular is profoundly uplifting for some reason. Maybe because of the horrible things that have been going on with the state of the world as of 2022, idk. But even though it's an improvised lyric not part of the original, it still low key speaks to me and encourages me it's own way.

The editing is out of this world amazing and the remix sounds like the original SA2 version. I first heard Supporting Me from your 2014 Sonic Fan Medley (where I voted in Spring Yard Zone) which inspired me to play SA2 afterward and constantly listen back to your version of the song for years to come.
I love that you did 2 more remakes this year, I wouldn't mind this format going forward even if they come out in June since I always wished there were more GaMetal remakes.
Man, this boss fight was super hard for me as a kid, but now it's easy. Coincidentally, Final Hazard was super easy for me as a kid, and now is super hard for me as an adult.

SA2 has its issues, but it's OST is SSS+ tier.
This song always had an air of desperation to it as well as grief, which suits Shadow's character. I would certainly say you nailed all of that with this remix. 🤘 Awesome Job! 🤘

Honestly, this is one of the greatest remixes of Supporting Me. You add your flare, but I also feel you stay a bit closer in spirit and tone to the original song. The Generations version is fine, but I love your's better than the Generations version!😍

Rolling swaths of green hills begin to spin and swirl faster than even his own supersonic speed would justify, first the shape and then the color of his surroundings distorted and morphed into strange polygonal objects. For a moment, he felt as if he was in one of those insane "special stages" Sonic had told him about in his early years. But those polygons soon began transforming once more, into objects far more disturbing, and familar. The green grass became metallic flooring, the blue sky became empty space, and the Eggman robots became the hostile faces of GUN soldiers. For the first time in many years, he felt his heart quicken and his chest tighten out of fear and anxiety. But why? These GUN soldiers posed no threat to him, only to the girl who hand he firmly clutched as they ran down the hallw- Maria! Maria is with him. Suddenly, any confusion he had about his surroundings had to be cast aside. He pulled the girl along and ran as fast as he could with her following closely behind, the thunderous stomps of the boots of the soldiers gaining on them.
They came to a door that lead to the ARK observatory. If he could get them in there, they'd be safe, at least for a while.
He smashed his hand against the control panel, the door slide open and they dashed inside.
He looked behind him to see the door close, but when he turned back, he found himself inside the Ark's Emerald Shrine, with the enormous, thick-hided, rasping reptile snarling back at him from above. He looked to his right, but Maria was gone. But he could still hear her voice in his ears.
"It's okay, Shadow. I'm still here. Cheering you on. Supporting You."
This remix is pure awesome. I was grinning from the very first guitar notes on this one.
