It is the best since the original I think. It’s also interesting how the song changed genres to reflect what Shadow’s music is more associated with since his solo game. The original had that kinda industrial techno thing going on, this is heavy metal. They’re different, sure, but they both fit the character and sound rad.
Even though i'd rathee have lyrics,i think thematically it makes sense not to have them In SA2,shadow spent most of the game and everything before that living in darkness,only to have been reminded that he's going completely against maria's wish. The lyrics were telling his inner struggle,realization and determination to fix his wrongs and cherish the promise In generations there's no inner struggle or realization,shadow's already made it beyond that point. All that battle is for him now is a mercy kill on his older brother, who which he finally aknowledged his torment
What I love about this song is that it describes Shadow's True Character perfectly. And how Maria sees Shadow and what she really wants him to be. A good person with a good heart of pure gold.
