One thing I like about these streams is how unique the habitat is. So many tiny waterfalls, beaver dams, deep pools, riffles, I find it so amazing. Loved the video, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing the knowledge and taking us fishing. Great video. The truck setup is awesome. You have it down to a science on what works and what doesn't.
Hey Drew! It made my day to see a new posting from you. Colorado is stunning. That sunset at the 21:50 mark says it all. Love that small stream combat fishing and the fall colors on those Brookies, Browns and Cutthroats. Thanks!
Drew it’s always fun to watch your videos. I must say one thing I’ve learned from you is that you stay well back of your target area as to not spook the fish. Well done drew
This is the kind of diversity (of fishing habitat) I can live with. Love that bow and arrow cast! However, where you find browns, cutts ad brookies, I HIGHLY recommend you keep some browns for dinner. Otherwise they will delete the cutts over time.
Living the dream Drew! I just got back from visiting my son in Utah. Did a 3 day fishing trip into the Dixie National Forest. Caught my first Bonneville cutthroat trout! 😁👍
Headed back to Colorado after a few years in Idaho/Montana. Gonna be quite the change from chucking streamers mostly for fat fish. This video got me stoked to explore some new creeks. I wasn’t super into fly fishing before we left. Thanks for the great content.
Love these longer videos, Drew! And you mentioned early in this one that you weren't much of a hunter, but stalking trout always gives me that same thrill I get when I out hunting. Another great one!
I was telling my son three days ago what I like most about hunting is I am in observation mode... I am looking for sign all the time. You are correct in that fishing is similar in that regard.
I'm getting ready for my first dispersed camping trip in the Poudre/Laramie River areas. This has me excited. I'm VERY new to fly fishing, but gonna try. Also bringing ultra light spinning rods too. Glad to find videos like yours.
Glad I caught back up w/ you. Busy dude! Thanks for these wonderful videos. I am handicapped and probably have numbered days for fly fishing. Your videos are a great vicarious experience for me, Best Regards
Good, fun video. Creeks like that, I love to use my 7.5', 3#. Your videos get me amp'd for fly fishing. I get so caught up with steelhead, salmon and jetty fish, lingcod, black bass. I forget to take time off for fly fishing small streams. I moved from UT to OR. Meh.
My neck of the woods...fishing is getting really good about now! Late september until cold weather in early November Avalanche (breckenridge)is numero uno local flavor Thanks for not letting out the spots!
I am currently moving from CO to BC and have fished all over CO while I lived here. Those are some decent browns for that size of stream, but it varies all over the mountains. I constantly get surprised by huge fish in the smallest water.
Are you on the western side of the continent divide? I’ve only fished the front range, from Co Springs to Fort Collins. Big Thomson, St Vrains, and Clear creek.
I’m going to be in Utah hopping from small blue line to the next then finish in Dutch John fishing the green for the last couple days. My yearly vacation. Look me up if you are going to be close
Can you provide any advice on how to find these types streams off the beaten path? I don’t have a 4x4, do I need one to explore what look like BLM areas or are you just blue lining/exploring all over?
Hi Drew. I had my GoPro 11 stop recording recently and read an error message about my card not being the proper quality for recording in 4K….I used the same card all of last year with zero problems (sandisk extreme). I downloaded the videos from the card and reformatted the SD card in my GoPro and zero problems since….go figure🤨
On these little streams - don’t specifically need an 18 BWO. 16-18-20 all work. BwO, comp dun, anything buggy Those fish eat. How else do they get that size and that quantity in a tiny creek. Not snagging is the fun and the challenge. Catching is just a matter of getting it on the water and it’s great
Great Video! Always enjoyed watching your videos. Truck Question: After all the trails you've gone through, is the Chevy Colorado needed for tight vegetation roads, or can I get away with a full size truck F150/1500? I'm trying to decide on needing the towing capacity vs skinnier truck for trails. Thanks
Ime, you'll be fine in a full size truck. The mid size is fun to drive on those roads but in reality it just gets me a little off the main road...some atv trails that don't really get me closer to fish. Some accesses that save a mile of hiking (where guys might park and unload atvs for example) and definitely some less popular out of the way dispersed camping sites. But the mpg is what I appreciate most over my titan. 21 from 13 is a lot when you're trying to stay out for days or weeks. I do miss the living space in the bed....especially on bad weather days. I'm 50/50 on going back to a full size truck with a 6ft or larger bed when I need to replace or start bringing my wife.
Noticed it said a one week trip. Did you by chance escape for a few weeks? I love your vids as they’re the closest thing out there I can relate too as far as fishing, camping, etc.
Been out almost 3 weeks. Went from CO to WY (next vid) then back to TN...had to upgrade my gopro bc of lost footage so only got Wyoming to share right now.
@@LooknFishy bummer about the whole GoPro situation. Sorry to hear that. On the flip side I’m glad to see you were able to get away some. I thoroughly enjoyed your trips last summer and the summer before. You explore and fish exactly how I like to do it (even some of the same places I’ve noticed). It’s great stuff. Wouldn’t mind watching some video of camp life on these trips if you are up for adding new content. 😉
I know I am going to catch hell for this. But ima going to do it anyway…. My son is in the air force stationed in Montana. He and I are planning on taking a trip like that. Except we are going to do Montana and Wyoming. Would you be willing tell me a good starting place In Wyoming. The are you went to was beautiful.
So in the first five minutes of this upload where the camera is pretty still there is no pixilation. When you start walking down the trail and the camera is in motion the pixilation starts....and keeps going and going ...
Thats sad. Home is where a woman respects, cherishes, and spoils her man. If your mom raised you right you know what those attributes look like. In return you will have a hard working man who will protect, love and support your every desire forever.
I agree, it can be a mess and a hassle but he cooked burgers in a fry pan. why not grill? I grill over wood in a container I created in my work shop. Bears can be attracted by any smell, and we know humans have an unforgettable oder. well I fish in many off road locations and I always catch my dinner. I use a #20 Bill Stanley Fav Heddon circa 1915 or so. It's a lake rod but the rod does not know a lake from a stream. Take care, George catch a fish
I watched one of your videos. You didn't name the rivers/creeks. The end result is a brag-video of "what a great experience I'm sharing" (envy me). Most people will never make it to a named location or it might become a bucket list item. I'm not going to waste my time helping you make youtube $$ by watching your videos. Disagree with me ? IDGAF
I'm visiting colorado in October from Ireland. I tried to message you on Instagram but I just sent a "Hi Drew" and tgen couldn't send another😅. Just looking for anyone who might enjoy a day's hike n fish...
One thing I like about these streams is how unique the habitat is. So many tiny waterfalls, beaver dams, deep pools, riffles, I find it so amazing. Loved the video, thanks for sharing!
Always amazed to see the creeks you find produce such quality fish for their size
Me too!
A few years back I saw a YT video of a kid pulling a huge brown trout literally out of a ditch
I grew up in New Zealand and I thought I was lucky. Your country side is magnificent.
Some really pretty fish, Colorado never disappoints. Thank you!
Another awesome video as always. Some really nice fish from those small creeks.
Another outstanding video from the master! Thanks, Drew!!!
Amazing views and beautifull trip ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Some nice brownies. Good fishing in those small creeks. Never easy.
Thanks for sharing the knowledge and taking us fishing. Great video. The truck setup is awesome. You have it down to a science on what works and what doesn't.
Definitely spent some time in it!
Can't wait to watch the whole 50 minutes after work , thanks drew !!!
Hope you enjoyed it!
I Sure did, can't wait to get back to Colorado before it freezes over it's been getting nippy in the morning....
Those are very nice trout for that size stream! Brookies, browns & cutthroat…what a fun spot.
Wonderful video, always enjoy the content you provide. Thanks for taking us along for the experience. Your doing it right I'll have to say!
The secret to good trout is no humans, and a good walk
Drew, your videos never disappoint. Those were some nice fish for such skinny water in that first stream.
Thanks for taking me along.
WOW! nice surprise, well worth the wait. And an EXTENDED VERSION. Awesome!
Glad you liked it! Yea, I think I'll do the extended versions more....less time editing and my schedule is way busier this year!
It's amazing the size of these fish in these small streams.
Hey Drew! It made my day to see a new posting from you. Colorado is stunning. That sunset at the 21:50 mark says it all. Love that small stream combat fishing and the fall colors on those Brookies, Browns and Cutthroats. Thanks!
I had a great time...Colorado treated me well for sure!
Drew it’s always fun to watch your videos. I must say one thing I’ve learned from you is that you stay well back of your target area as to not spook the fish. Well done drew
Super awesome video! Love how big some of the fish are in such small creeks! Especially love seeing those cutthroats, they are such pretty fish 🎣
Loved the torpedo take near the end.

Brings back memories - I started fly fishing as a teen on creeks in Montana. Beautiful surroundings, great catches - thanks for sharing!
Great video! Beautiful scenery for sure. Best!

Much appreciated!
Simply amazing camp site!
Thanks for not naming these places. Props for doing your research and next time you come down I’d love to fish with you
100%
Yep, just got back from Colorado myself and I concur that the parachute olives were on and id often tie on a small ant dropper. Looks like a blast!
Great video man! What a trip!
Great video Drew! Glad to see you were able to get out this year. Hope all is well!
Love the video, as usual. Here I am living in CO and you are doing a much better job finding great fishing locals than I am… 🤣🎣
what can i say, awesome fishing and video
What a pleasant surprise! Hold on, gotta get my waders on and a cold beer in my hand....flyrod at the ready....lets begin!!! Woo-hoo!!!🍻
Rock on!
Love the videos man keep it up
Definitely gonna try!

Those browns and cutties are a decent size for such small streams.
Nice size brownies in those little creeks!
Definitely a nice surprise!

Thanks for not letting out the spots!
I'm beginning to appreciate the cooler seasons more out that way!
I spy some Lush Puppy! One of my favorites for my Colorado trips. Always bring some home with me.
Same here!
I was just there 30 days ago, Love that place.. one of my favorates in CO, another outstanding outing Drew!
Couldn't agree more!
When will you take Mrs. Lookinfishy on some of these awesome fishing adventures?
I love that you don’t share the specific location of these spots, what a legend
Nice video, Drew!
I am currently moving from CO to BC and have fished all over CO while I lived here. Those are some decent browns for that size of stream, but it varies all over the mountains. I constantly get surprised by huge fish in the smallest water.
Tie drys in cream color and you can use a ink pen to color what you want.
Enjoyed the video.
Really nice fish drew, it's always worth the hike. Beautiful country I guess there was no smoke in the air for this trip?enjoyed watching.
Nope, none that I found. Worst smoke this year was in the driftless which was a surprise
Thanks once again Drew for taking me places I would love to go for real! Question for you - which trout generally give the best fight in your opinion?
I need to book a trip!
Drew: What kind of cutthroat where those. They were beautiful!
Drew do you have any favorite rivers (guides) to float a fly fishing tip in: CO, WY, ID or Montana?
Did you ever think or try TENKARA for these really small streams?
Are you on the western side of the continent divide? I’ve only fished the front range, from Co Springs to Fort Collins. Big Thomson, St Vrains, and Clear creek.
If you are still out that way go check out the Gunnison.
I’m going to be in Utah hopping from small blue line to the next then finish in Dutch John fishing the green for the last couple days. My yearly vacation. Look me up if you are going to be close
Cool...I'm home now but hope to get out again soon!
@@LooknFishy awesome, thanks for getting back to me.
May I ask what areas you were fishing in?
Can you provide any advice on how to find these types streams off the beaten path? I don’t have a 4x4, do I need one to explore what look like BLM areas or are you just blue lining/exploring all over?
Got 2 vids on my channel that go into how I find streams. 4wd is definitely helpful in some situations but high clearance is more important imo.
Thank you!
Which costa glasses are those?
Where are these located?? I'm in Co this week and I'd love to go fishing
Hi Drew. I had my GoPro 11 stop recording recently and read an error message about my card not being the proper quality for recording in 4K….I used the same card all of last year with zero problems (sandisk extreme). I downloaded the videos from the card and

I don't know of another person who has caught more trout than you....hopefully you will be release a book one of these days.
Got lots more chapters to build first!
Have you ever gone after the Colorado Green back trout?
Drew, what type of water bottle do you use?
Drew how many miles you got on the truck now
~32k in 20 months and all from road trips!
On these little streams - don’t specifically need an 18 BWO. 16-18-20 all work. BwO, comp dun, anything buggy
Those fish eat. How else do they get that size and that quantity in a tiny creek.

Hey Drew, Love your videos. This is probably a taboo question, but would you share the stream names , or at least the regions you were in in Co?
Google Earth is your friend, and the search is half the fun! Good winter pastime when you're not tying or watching Drew.
I like Colorado - no Grizzlies to worry about.
👀 not too far from Yellowstone if you think about it. Theres hear say
Love me a peanut butter and honey sandwich.
What are the names of the three streams?
Great Video! Always enjoyed watching your videos.

totally bring the mrs. "looknfishy" and maybe some of the "fishy family" on your expo.'s@@LooknFishy

Trout live in scenic places. Wouldn't be worth the effort of fishing, otherwise.
He goes fishing but does not eat any fish, why? burgers, canned chili, chips, what kind of fishing vlog is this, sorry but I fish and eat fish
I would agree, but it can be a messy hassle when you are in limited quarters for an extended trip. And used grease attracts bears!
