I traded in my 20 WRX got a Charger in February wanted more room. Turns out even tho the Subaru is smaller it has more space on the inside. The more I see of the VB the more I consider getting one and letting go of the Charger. The WRX was one of my favorite cars I ever owned. It literally did everything. Track days. Winter driving. Mpg. And car shows. Commutes the kids as well.
Ngl, I was considering a 2021 Charger R/T. But when I drove the VB and I started seeing all the aftermarket support and how fun it would be tinkering with it. Coupled with the fact that it’s Subarus best motor at building power reliably, it was a no brainer. I got the base model because in my opinion for 3-7k more the premium model only getting the big iPad and if you get HK you get slightly better speakers and a sunroof just isn’t worth it for what you could do to it yourself with that money. I’ve had my 23 vb in ceramic white since the beginning of October and I love it!
Totally agreed. I had a bugeye WRX stage 3 VF30 with supporting mods and ecutek tune, tracked it many times never had a problem. Had a 2012 STI, same thing ecutek tracked it a handful of times never had a problem… still original clutch after 60k km etc etc… People calling these glass motors only because they do stupid sh*t and cheap out on oil changes.
Awesome video! Love my vb. I just have aero parts and was gonna wait for my warranty to end to throw parts at it. Just curious what will and wont break warranty on the engine?
Pretty much anything you add to engine function and performance can cause a denial of a warranty claim. I think you’d be fine with a catback exhaust but what’s the point if that’s all you’re going for? Good wheels and tires go a long way.
Driving4Answers TH-cam channel has a great video about upgrading brake size. The only benefit of upgrading brakes is for heat management since your stock calipers and rotors can already over power the tires.
Doubt it’s the pads more likely you boiled your brake fluid. Pads grip until there’s nothing left and you know when there’s no pad left and will not drive lol. When you track you should be changing your brake fluid after every event.
"Don't tell Subaru?"...im pretty sure the mods have already sealed the deal on voiding your warranty 😅 just sayin'...ive been holding off on my VB mods, 6 mos left. I plan the same ETS setup but slight difference COBB access port w/ E85 conversion. Still on the fence on the coil overs. Thanks for the all the cool content.
Why would an intercooler void your warranty? It’s no different than driving the car in colder temps. It’s just putting a colder air charge into the car all year around.
If you want the black jdm grill id order it asap ive been waiting 4 months for mine an still not sure when its coming they can answer cause there so backordered
The IAG AOS was not available until I had the car for almost a year, but yes it is a good reliability mod except they don’t offer the competition/track model IAG… I’m not a fan of recycling milky oil back into the motor with the “street” version
Your rex sounds great. Im thinking of just doing asthetic upgrades to my 23 wrx and install the accessport - just as you suggested due to the fact i can just take it out before getting work done. One question, when you get an accessport - do you need to take it to a shop to get it tuned professionally? I think cobb has maps for the 23 wrx now.
The dealer can tell if you reflash with the accessport. Even if you unmarry from your car they know you changed the code. If you have no mods you can run the Cobb tune. When you add parts you HAVE to get the tune changed to go with them. Etunning is a lot more affordable then dyno tuning
I'll actually answer your question unlike this clown. 1st. Your Access port will come with standard ots tunes that you can flash onto the car. 2nd. You don't need a tune for catback exhaust. 3rd. You can obtain a etune from someone through email without ever going to a shop. 4th. If you dont plan on getting a CAI or other engine mods like FMIC or j pipe then I wouldn't flash your ecu with an ots tune. It's not worth voiding a warranty.
I thought off the shelf tunes are bad though ? .. also I never knew jb4’s worked on subis why don’t more ppl use jb4’s if it doesn’t void warranty but u can tune ? Genuinely curious cause I wanna mod my 23
JB works on the VB 2022+ It’s a piggy back tuner so it doesn’t flash the ecu, which is why in my opinion, you won’t void your warranty assuming you took it off the car before taking it into the dealer for a warranty claim.
I had a fa 17 got it stage 2+ at 100k with walnutblasting etc good maintenance and put 150k kms on it eventually and it still felt brand new. Dont even waste ur time with WRX trust me or if you get one get it depreciated in good condition but DO NOT PUT money into it total waste of time. Yes, A tune is recommended with any intake. Intakes shouldn’t void your warranty in my opinion but that’s all up to Subaru. If something goes wrong with the car, the closer to stock the car is when the dealership sees it, the better chance it’ll be covered by warranty.
