Fleur is lovely, I’ve made a few now and it’s a firm favourite, I agree on the quality of different fabrics, and have come to the conclusion when I evaluate the value of a making a hand made garment, they last longer and wear better, generally I forget the cost and remember the quality difference. Dear Julie, I am so sorry you have been ill. 😢 At least you found a silver lining but probably not while you were sick. I wish I could send you some of our NY heat! It’s hot and humid here and in most of the US. Hope you get some sunny days soon. I love your dresses! The French terry on goes perfectly with your Vans. As far as how I decide what fabric will look good in a certain style or vise versa I let the fabric “talk to me”. Draping on a form helps or draping it on me. I have been sewing for over 60 years and have an undergraduate degree in textiles and clothing construction but still make garments that I don’t like in the end. I have always been very daring choosing non conventional fabrics for patterns. Some worked, some not. I have learned that there is no sure fire way to make sure the garment is a winner but the journey is so fun! So I am of little help. Sorry! ❤

I am in love with the fabric in the top you have on. It seems you have much more variety in the fabrics in the UK. I’m amazed at the fact you have only sewn for 4 years as all your makes look lovely. I have more luck when I choose a pattern and then buy the fabric to go with it.

That t-shirt dress is fantastic. I liked the fleur dress but the Old Coast t-shirt dress just really stands out as being perfect. I love the color blocking and the ribbing and even the scoop hem. Agree about the quality of See You at Six. It really shows in your dress. Happy Wearing!

I had never watched or known about vlogs you were my very first and now I watch a few 😂. For my husbands 'comfortable' trousers I make the Simplicity S9279 they turn out very well for smarter I use a stretch suiting twill but for messing about at home anything like sweatshirting etc., I've just made him a pair in cotton/linen mix. I love your Fleur. It looks lovely on you. I'm tempted to make one now having not been taken by this pattern before. I try to choose a pattern then match the fabric to it these days, but my stash shows that often, in the past, I have bought the fabric and not yet found the pattern. It will happen one day. I have recently matched up about 12 stash fabrics with patterns that I plan to make very soon. Maraflex thread is a game-changer. Love it.
I wasn’t taken by the Fleur initially but I do really like the sleeveless dress version. I also want to make the peplum top with sleeves, I may attempt to lower the neckline. I often buy fabric with a pattern in mind but like you say, the growing stash is evident that my plans don’t always get followed through. I do love getting a new pattern and having stash fabric jump into action 😎😍🩷
Sometimes I buy fabric for a specific pattern. Other times I get a pattern and shop from my stash as I already have the perfect fabric that was bought just because or it came in a shj box xxx

I always got mistaken for a boy too, except when I had long hair. But when I was a baby, and any time afterwards when I cut my hair, I always got mistaken for a boy. It probably didn't help ghat I often dressed sort of boyish, in tee shirts and jeans, and a bomber jacket in winter all through high school. So I like to dress more on the girlish side, colorful, florals, and the like too.

We have the opposite problem - so much choice it’s hard to resist 😵💫 The Fleur is ideal for the Texas climate but not so much for the summer we’re having this year. 🌤️🌥️🙇♀️

I’ll let you know how the fabric wears on the T-shirt dress, I’m very hopeful it will wear well and be worth the money. The FT top I had on yesterday is almost 4 years old, washes beautifully, I can wear it all day and it doesn’t crease or get baggy anywhere. That was expensive but worth it. It’s seen a lot of other FT garments fade away and hit the graveyard so I’m hoping this will be the same 🙏🤞😍

Didn't you find at the armhole came down quite low under the arm. I used a heavier fabric and the ties were not very attractive. I need to start again with a thinner fabric. But the armholes still have me perplexed!! Any ideas??
Have you got the correct bodice peice? I think there are different ones for sleeveless which sits closer to the armpit. The sleeve version of the bodice had a much bigger armhole to allow for the sleeve movement. Lighter weight fabric might help. Good luck 🤞❤️😍
Hi Jeanette, I don’t have the Nell dress pattern so I’m not sure if it’s more fitted than Fleur but the Fleur has different bodice options, I chose B cup option, I think if I’d chosen the bodice without bust darts it would have been looser or if I’d made the next size up. Sorry if that isn’t very helpful 🫣😍
Hi Louise, I don’t like home print patterns either, too much faff and home printer ink is quite expensive. Fabric godmother do A0 prints you can select that option when you buy the pattern or I use CLC prints to order A0 printed copies

I always got mistaken for a boy too, but I was a bit of a tomboy anyway so it didn’t bother me until I got to my teenage years. Even as an adult one of my very young nieces told me I look like a man 😱🤣 Now I tend to make a conscious effort to look more feminine although I do still like the androgynous look sometimes too 💞💞 incidentally, I love what Annie the mannie is sporting today 😍💕💕

Didn't you find at the armhole came down quite low under the arm. I used a heavier fabric and the ties were not very attractive. I need to start again with a thinner fabric. But the armholes still have me perplexed!! Any ideas??
Have you got the correct bodice peice? I think there are different ones for sleeveless which sits closer to the armpit. The sleeve version of the bodice had a much bigger armhole to allow for the sleeve movement. Lighter weight fabric might help. Good luck 🤞❤️😍
Would you say the fleur is more fitted than the nell dress.
Hi Jeanette, I don’t have the Nell dress pattern so I’m not sure if it’s more fitted than Fleur but the Fleur has different bodice options, I chose B cup option, I think if I’d chosen the bodice without bust darts it would have been looser or if I’d made the next size up. Sorry if that isn’t very helpful 🫣😍

Hi Louise, I don’t like home print patterns either, too much faff and home printer ink is quite expensive. Fabric godmother do A0 prints you can select that option when you buy the pattern or I use CLC prints to order A0 printed copies
