First A’s game in 1977. Trevor, question for you, what can the players do to fight back? I’ve heard the Players Association has to approve playing on turf outdoors in Sacramento where it’s 110 many days during the summer. What if the Players Association says no? “Playing on 120 degree turf threatens the health of our guys.” Is it possible for the players and fans to unite against a terrible owner? Fisher’s support among other owners must be soft, especially if there are billionaires ready to buy the team and make the problem go away. How can ALL OF US come together and turn this around?
When I read the title I thought of Felipe Vasquez, you know the Pirates Closer who went to prison in 2019. By the way, Vasquez starts playing again in Venezuela on this October 12th, and he will also have as a teammate Tucupita Marcano (the one who bet on baseball and was suspended for life).
You’re forgetting that the MLB commissioner and the other team owners in the league gave him the green light to move the team and waived the relocation fees so he can move the A’s with no issues, I can’t believe the other team owners didn’t put up any fight or bring up some type of issues. Also, Fisher is the one that drove the Raiders to Las Vegas and now he want to follow him to vegas.
Rob Manfred can't get anything done except if it's regarding John Fisher bending the league and a whole city ober backwards or the pitch clock. What a travesty
Rob Manfred doesn't care about the fans. He wants to be in good graces with the owners, so he kisses their asses instead of trying to stop owners like Jeff Fisher. The whole narrative rob spun about Oakland is that the fans just don't care enough. If he was a competent commissioner, he would've stopped Jeff fisher's antics way sooner
Wanna know what's wild? Manfred ain't even the WORST one in all of this, and believe it or not, neither is John Fisher. Fisher's the LOW MAN in this whole travesty.
Crazy how 2 awful owners can bring Angels and As fans together. I HATED the As growing up. Now I just feel for all those die hard fans of Oakland baseball.
My first team was the Athletics, and I later moved around the country when I was young (military brat), and settled in Seattle in the early 90s, and was there for all their playoff runs, making it easy to cheer for them and become a fan. To this day, I'm still a Mariners fan for over 30 years. I've always had a soft spot for the Athletics, and it bothered me when they made the stadium ugly with the football remodel, it also bothered me when I heard they wouldn't be there in Oakland anymore. What this situation has made me realize is how badly the AL West teams have been run... The Mariners, Athletics, and Astros have owners that care about making additional money, more than they care about the product they put on the field, while the Angels and Rangers suffer from meddling ownership that leads to bad contracts for bad players which hurt the final product on the field. The Angels always seem to be getting killed by the Hamilton, Pujols, and now the Rendon deals. The Rangers threw stupid money at DeGrom, Scherzer, and other older vets. So I agree that it makes us feel like our division breeds as much compassion as contempt.
I’m an A’s fan but all of us should be united over how much we hate these terrible wackass owners. I never thought as a kid that the owners could possibly ruin your childhood team.
Blame the city and the Giants as well. They've been trying for 40 year to get the A's a new stadium, under 3 ownership groups. Then the Giants blocked a move to San Jose. So, its not on Fisher entirely
Was too young to remember the Winnipeg Jets leaving but it did suck to not have sports to go to anymore in the city. And even recently with Arizona losing their hockey team this feels different. Because the Oakland A's were taken out back, blind sided and shot while Arizona and the league had 25 years to get their shit together. Good on you for being a former A's player and not holding back on how shit ownership is. 🍬 Also as far as I understood Fisher never came to games it's wild how the silver spoon fed hand me down GAP owner didnt show his face at games while the new Owner of the Ottawa Senators made it a priority to show up on the concourse and allowed people to meet and chat with him at some season ticket holders thing.
