This time, I'm spending 48 hours at the edge of the world. Foula, nestled in the Atlantic waters and part of the Shetland Islands, is one of the UK's most remote permanently inhabited islands. Home to thousands of seabirds, hundreds of hardy sheep, and the second highest sea cliffs in Britain, this wild and isolated place is where around 30 people call home.
In this video, I share how to get to Foula and my stay at the Ristie Guesthouse on the island's north side for two nights. While on Foula, I attempt to hike the big sea cliff called Da Kame, encounter Shetland ponies and puffins, enjoy a guided walk with the Foula Ranger, and nearly get blown away by high winds and heavy rain.

WHO AM I?
If we haven't met before... Hi, I'm Ruth 👋 and I recently bought a campervan to travel my home country of Scotland after living overseas for 12 years. I’ve hardly seen anything or been anywhere in Scotland and now is the time to change that!
P.S. Some of the links in this description are affiliate links that I get a kickback from.
Could you stay on a remote island like Foula for 48 hours?

@@kickbackrelax2819wow. I’m not sure I could do a month!
I would Ruth if I had an UP-5 Bear tent.
Those dive-bomb birds are Insane, but Yay Puffins! 🥰 I used to see them in Alaska as well.
I could spend the rest of my days there.
England is the most Awful country in the World
Just 15 minutes into watching so far and spotted some of my animals, the ponies. 😂
Northharrier Kirch is the grey one trying to give you kisses, he's a sweetheart. Kirch was born on Foula and has never left the isle. I've owned him for the great majority of his 19 years. My 2 red and white ponies with him are also Foula born, mother and daughter pair Northharrier Reflection and Charliemay Rain-goose. Most of my others are from Unst arriving here on the ferry.
Wow, how amazing! I loved meeting your ponies. I think Kirch was my favourite animal I've ever encountered! ❤
They are adorable ponies! 💚💚💚
104K, Man this channel is getting bigger and bigger, well deserved Ruth,👍
Thanks David! Glad to hear you're enjoying all the videos!
OOOO, YES, EVERYONE GETS BETTER AND BETTER,
SOOOOO,
THANK YOU,
@@ruthaislingyou've inspired me to get my wee tent out again
dont ever apologize for any part of the production - you make a very high quality product, there is nothing wrong with a more "gritty" part, its actually cool
Agreed!
Appreciate that, thank you! ❤️
I've watched a number of the channel's videos now, and along with the many other obvious merits, may I add how much I appreciate the thoughtfulness of converting costs, distances, etc. for your international viewership.Thank you.
Glad you find it helpful! I always appreciate it so that’s why I do it!
My two favourite (well, only) regular Scottish travel TH-camrs - yourself and Steve Marsh - go to Foula in the space of two weeks! That was great, and really nice to see the Island via your two travel styles and personalities as well.
Snap! We're big fans of both Ruth and Steve. Our trips to Scotland are often inspired by their videos!
Love love those puffins. Adorable. So are the sheep and horses. You can get a real sense of the island by the woman tour guide. Her life was so hard just to get water. What a Renaissance Woman!! Wind, rain, fog or birds life goes on. No time to rest. Loved the video.
Thank you! It was such an amazing place to visit! ❤
Feel like I’m at home by a fire with a mug of tea it’s raining outside and my dogs are nodding off every time I listen to these videos.
Love your work Ruth
Thank you so much 😊
Fun fact, the northern most part of Shetland islands are closest to Iceland at the distance of 791 km. The most closest distance to Denmark is 683 km from the same point. Almost half way between the two countries. If you have a good FM radio and under certain atmosphere conditions you can get FM radio from both countries. The sheep look very close to the sheep in Iceland. My parents used to be a sheep farmers.
Thank you for sharing!
Really nice video. Those ponies were adorable and the puffins too! When looking at those cliffs and how peaceful it was I am thinking about how at that very moment that you are filming all the busy cities with noise and cars and yet here on this little island it is nothing but peaceful. I also like that you share when things go south and really that makes your channel much more entertaining than most others. Getting stuck in the rain and in your video on the ferry coming back from Amsterdam keep me hooked into your adventures.
Thanks Cheryl! I appreciate you watching the videos! I loved the ponies!
I loved the Shetland ponies, ❤ They seemed so tame & friendly! Thank you for sharing your awesome adventure with us & glad you didn’t get blown off a cliff! 😂 Oh & love the puffins too! ❤🐧
The ponies and puffins are the best!
Getting so close to the wildlife and Whitey the pony was incredible. 😊
It was so lovely to be so close to the Shetland ponies!
Ruth yells, “ He’s after me” !!!
Straight from your dreams girl! 🤣
👍👍
😂😂
A bit about the Oceanic, it ended up on a reef called the Shaalds, a couple of clam divers decided to take a busman's holiday to Foula, and met up with a local fisherman who regularly caught "Rusty" lobsters, that's when they found out about the "Oceanic" wrecked on the reef called the "Shaalds". They managed to blag a ride in the fisherman's boat to check it out. Eventually, they spent seven years scrapping the liner, having many adventures and writing of their exploits in a book called "The Other Titanic"
Ripping yarns, especially for a diver or not!😁
So interesting, thanks for sharing more information!
Saw an article about Foula in the news today because apparently they're celebrating the new year today due to still using the Julian calendar. After reading that, I came to YT to search for your video, because I was sure you'd filmed something about Foula before. Very nice and informative video!
I got so nervous when Ruth was on the cliffs; I got butterflies in my tummy. I had to remind myself that I was home in my chair in front of my pc. That's entertainment. Thank you Ruth.
Haha I’m always very careful!
I lived in Foula when i was young, most of its inhabitants are my family the Gears , glad you liked it so much.
What a trip! Thank you for sharing 🙏 An inspiration for women wanting to travel alone but not used to it like me 💗
Thanks for watching Rachel! I always think there is no point in me waiting around for someone else to do things with or go places with.
@ruthaisling I would go with you but my old bones wouldn't be able to do all the waking 😂
Walking lol
@@ruthaislingany fella would be LUCKY to be able to travel with you Ruth!
Very watchable Ruth and well put together.Thank you for sharing your experience.
I used to have a (mainland) croft with coloured Shetland sheep and the Shetland Sheep from Foula are quite sought after because they have some of the most interesting colours and coat patterns!
Oh interesting! I loved watching the sheep while on the island, they are so cute! ❤️
What an inspiring escape video, Ruth! I've been a traveler all my life, and the TV series "Shetland" has been a favorite watch. Your video took me one step further, so thanks a bunch!-- Jim
I’m really pleased the video has inspired you so much. Thank you so much for watching!
Ruth, it reminded me of an adventure I had in what I called the last pace on earth. It was the village of Shimla in northern India on the border of Nepal, in the foothills of the Himalayas. I was covering a story there and wondered if I'd ever get back home. I'll be watching more of your work!@@ruthaisling
Thank you for braving the swooping birds, wind and rain for making and sharing this wonderful episode! The puffins, sheep and Shetland ponies are awesome to see. The ranger walk with Sheila was great! Ruth, you are the perfect tour guide. I love the history, local facts and travel information you share about these wonderful locations in Scotland. 👍😃
So glad you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching! ❤️
@@ruthaisling You’re very welcome😃
Theres's a great book written by the guy who dived the RMS Oceanic for salvage. It's an epic read. Treasure Islands by Alec Crawford. I think his diving partner wrote one too.
I and I expect a lot of other people would love 48 hours on the Island , certainly get away from it all up there. One of the officers on the R.M.S Oceanic when it was wrecked was Charles Lightoller who later became famous in his role as the first officer on the Titanic..
That’s really interesting to know, thanks for sharing about that!
Enjoyed the visit to Foula, and the unchanged way of life it offers. The serenity of such places can only be rejuvenating.
It’s a very special place indeed!
@@ruthaisling The good i
@@ruthaisling High Ruth. The great sights of Scotland you are kind enough to bring to our attention, can only do great things for its tourism trade. Well done young lady, keep up the great work.
Hi Ruth, I lived in Shetland of over 7 years and it has a place in my heart for sure. I've heard born and bred Shetlanders use both Ler-wick and Leh-rick in conversation. I think it just depends on what part of Shetland the individual is from.
I've had quite a few encounters with Bonxies on Hermaness, on Unst. They're quite intimidating, aren't they. Another scary bird is the Artic Tern, known as the Tirrick in Shetland. They're very much smaller than the Bonxie, but with a fearsome, sword-like bill. They nest at the top of beaches, on the ground, and attack in squadrons of many and from all directions if you're unlucky enough to wander too close to their nests. They can easily draw blood with their bills, but they also target you with nasty smelling poo too!!
I never managed to get over to Foula, sadly, but hope to one day. I have been lucky enough to visit the island of Mousa and its broch, which is the most complete and best-preserved broch in Scotland.
Oh wow what a lovely place to live for 7 years! I encounter some Arctic Terns in the next video! 😂
I went to the Faroe Islands in 2016. I've never seen the weather change so fast in a place, ever. This reminded me of my trip and I know these places aren't a million miles from each other. Looked a lovely island ☺👍
Ruth, you are Scotish brave. I was taken by the beautiful scenes. The quality of the video is outstanding. We all feel that we are there with you. The movement of the air over head by the birds wings. Love those ponies. Thank you for staying out of the dangerous rock formation. We need you to continue your Scotish journeys. Much adored.
Thank you so much! ❤️
For waterproofs which will hold up to Scottish rain (I know it’s in a class of its own, I used to live on Shetland and spent a lot of time hillwalking at university) unfortunately you get what you pay for. Any well known brand will do you fine, but be prepared to pay £2-300 for decent waterproofs. I always had North Face or Patagonia. Great videos, I’m loving returning to the Scottish countryside vicariously through them!!
Enjoyable video Ruth. Have you seen the 1937 movie by Powell and Pressburger called The Edge of the World ? It’s about the final evacuation of the island of StKilda. They were not allowed to film on that island so they chose Foula as their location. The cast and crew had to stay there for months, building their own accommodation, and suffering from similar conditions that you did. I think you would enjoy the film very much as it shows the raw natural beauty of Foula.
No but I must get round to watching it!
Thanks I found it on Amazon prime
Just Powell...before his partnership with Pressburger. Beautiful film.
@@ruthaisling It is currently available on BBC iPlayer and there is also a documentary about the making of the film.
Nice ponies, very sociable.
Sheila is a perfect guide who tells a lot about the history of the island.
It was a hard walk you had in the rain when you visited the gorge, but it's nice afterwards when you get food and rest.
Thanks for the trip Ruth.
You are so nice.
It was great to hear from Sheila about her life, so interesting!
I felt bad for you being so cold and wet, but also really enjoyed seeing Foula. So beautiful, and….. puffins! ❤ Love your videos!
Thank you! 😊
#2. The only fish I will eat is Cod or Halibut. The Spring rolls my wife makes are mixed vegetables, ground pork that she boils first to get rid of as much fat as possible and raisens. Or, banana lumpia, quarter a banana, deep fry and roll in sugar and cinnamon. Of course the banana is wrapped in a lumpia wrapper. 😁
Oh Wow Ruth I didn’t even know that the island of Foula existed. Again reviewed in the very professional interesting Ruth way. It’s certainly very remote so you have got to be very prepared if you are staying overnight or more. The birds swooping were very intimidating but the puffins were adorable. The scenery and views were stunning. You can see how quickly the weather changes. Sheila the Ranger was so interesting; a life well lived. You really had to battle the elements to get back to your accommodation. So glad you had a good dinner Ruth you certainly must have needed it and deserved it Thank You Ruth and well done on another wonderful production
Thanks Clive, the fish curry was a great end to that day! 😂
Big thumbs up Ruth love your Scottish adventures. Just ordered Sheila's book 👍👍
Brilliant, hope you enjoy it! I'm currently finishing another book but plan to read Sheila's book next.
Love your videos Ruth. They bring me so much peace but are also very entertaining
That’s so nice to hear! Thanks for watching!
Great video. Get hot tea. Windy place. Thank you
That’s so kind of you, thank you! ❤️
You finally got to see the puffins. You were able to capture some wonderful shots of those beautiful birds. The Shetland ponies seemed to really enjoy your company…very heart warming.
Loved both the puffins and the ponies!
I visited Scotland in April of '23. I truly loved the place. My wife has no desire to leave the country, so my daughters, son in law and granddaughter were my companions. My youngest daughter and I would love to do a trip of the Scottish isles. My Nordic and Scottish blood are begging to visit places such as this. Thanks for a preview!
I’m so pleased you made a trip. Now you need to plan another!!
@@ruthaisling My youngest daughter and I are doing just that. Watching your videos of the various islands for ideas. :D
Thats my kind of place, beautiful and wild.
Very remote and wild!
For the first time I visited Shetland in the month of September. I took the boat which turned out to be a calm overnight voyage. I've heard the seas can be very rough. If you listen to some of the Shetlanders for long enough, and carefully enough you'll realise as a visitor (from the south) that you are a 'soothmoother' .... great folks, welcoming, but distinctively Islanders who tend to keep their counsel when it comes to disclosing who should feel bold enough to say Lerick rather than Lerwick. A canny community. Another fine video !
Thank you 😊
Such a wonderful video. Thanks for sharing. I loved listening to the woman who was telling you things. That meal looked delicious.
Yet another absolutely fantastic video Ruth, as always! 🏴 💙
Keep up your excellent work x
Thank you so much Andrew! ❤️
@ruthaisling You're truly very welcome indeed Ruth 💙
Of course we are sll so used to bei g on the National Grid, but in the 1950/60s there were farms and isolated locations where generators ran during the day, and at night the lights were running off batteries. No TV!
Yey 🎉!! Sunday Funday with Ruthie ❤😊. This was an amazing trip . Loved the ponies 🐴and puffens 🐧
Thank you! The puffins and ponies were so cute! 😍
What an incredible journey.
70 meters is 229 ft. Good you didn't venture further being so wet.
Appreciate you sharing and would gladly stay there. I had no idea accommodations were even an option.
Nesting caused those attacks, just doing their job protecting.
Park ranger and ponies just classic. Very kind to provide so much details.
Enjoy your week 🌻🦋
Looking forward to the next video.
Thanks for watching! I think it might be the only accommodation on the island. It was really nice to learn more from the ranger!
Right. When visiting Foula, bring a tennis racket to defend yourself against the attack birds.
That might have been helpful 😂 those skuas were crazy!!
"Don't usually eat meat", as you tuck into a can of meatballs lol! Nice video thanks and interesting content...
Love your videos! Scotland looks so beautiful!❤
Thank you for watching the videos!
What an amazing island. These birds certainly were giving you a hard time. Take care.
There's probably a nest nearby that the birds are trying to protect.
5 seconds into this video and I know it involves Whisky. Wait. Did my eyes deceive me. Did that Thai Green Curry say £60 in the book?
It was £60 for two portions / £30 for one portion
@@ruthaisling Ourageous. No whisky. Going to have to drink for you.
@@windemup5316yes please do 😂
My initial thought was, holy crap that's expensive!"
Then I, firstly, realised that's for two, so £30 each....
dominoes pizza will cost you pretty much that in the mainland UK! £30 each for a delivery meal in the most remote part of the UK is actually not that bad at all!
@@ChuckFickens1972- oh my goodness!! That price for Dominoes is outrageous!! 😢
Another great video, Ruth. You can't make vicarious seem any more real. The maps and drone views are very helpful. It's amazing that with just 35 residents they can maintain their own water and power infrastructure. The discussion with Sheila was fascinating. It brought vividly to mind what living in that harsh climate without electricity and running water was like. Your attempt at a shortcut back to your lodgings from Da Sneck O' D Smaallie was harrowing. You are a consummate videographer and storyteller. Thanks so much for bringing us all along on your adventures.
Thanks for the kind comments! They are a very resilient community on Foula, I have the utmost respect for them.
Title reminds me of the great Irish film the field when the bull McCabe is heading to the cliffs with the cattle and taoghe says where you going Da and he answers to the edge of the world.
Ruth! What beautiful Shetland Ponies; such a paradise; I appreciate your fabulous videos!! You're so creative and a gifted videographer!! Blessings
Thank you so much! 🙏
Another great video , great scenery thank you Ruth .
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks!
That’s very kind of you, thank you! ❤️
Sunday funday with ruth. This was an amazing trip. Awesome friend. 👍
Thanks Adrian!
Ruth, you asked for recommendations for rainwear that would withstand the Scottish climate. Last year I went to Alaska and it rains there a lot and fiercely. So I researched Goretex rainwear and bought a hooded raincoat. There are different companies who sell Goretex. I always wondered if it was worth the price. There are several types to choose from depending on your preferences. I decided after being drenched with regular rain gear I would give it a try. What a revelation! It rained everyday I was in Alaska and I was a comfortable as can be. Not only that but I found some trail shoes that are also Goretex, so no more wet socks and chilly feet. It is well worth every cent!
Etymology of the island makes sense. Norse fowls.
Ruth; you gotta start a wildlife show. Your camera work is superb. And you're right, the puffins are too cute. Same can't be said for those suicidal Skuas.
Lovely vid. Take care.
Wolfie.
私もいつかリタイア後スコットランドに行ってみたいですね。
ぜひスコットランドを訪れてみてください!
We went to Shetland a month ago and I watched your Shetland video before we went. I loved it so much and you really helped us when deciding where to go and what to do in just a week. Since then I’ve been working my way through all your videos. They are super. You are a breath of fresh air. I was delighted to see this latest video on another Shetland video! What a treat!! 😁
That’s brilliant to hear, so glad the Shetland video was helpful for your trip. What was your highlight on Shetland?
@@ruthaisling we took your advise and stayed up on Unst for 2 nights and camped at the Gardiesfauld Youth Hostel right by the shore. We had really good weather and saw Muckle Flugga lighthouse in beautiful sunshine. We saw so many puffins! Another highlight was St Ninion’s tombolo. Again we had beautiful sunshine and I had a swim there. Thank you so much for the recommendation. Like you though, we found a week was just not enough and we are desperate to go back and explore more! I’m just loving your videos! ♥️
Thanks Ruth!!
Thanks for watching!
Magical Ruth, I toured Shetland 2 years ago but sadly never made the small islands like Foula / Fair Isle, I'd love to go back and do them, so thank you so much for the tour of Foula, those cliffs are amazing and the views outstanding ❤️ 🏴
The cliffs really were something else! 😍
Those aggressive birds were wild! Very scary!
They were! 😂
I loved watching this video, I visited foula on a school trip 34 years ago and this brings back many happy memories, especially those bonxies! 👍
What an amazing place to go on a school trip! Mine were never anywhere very exciting 😆
YES!!!!!!!
SO LOOKING FORWARD 2 THIS UPLOAD L👀KS A CRACKER AS ALWAYS 👍😉
EXCELLENT THUMBNAIL AS ALWAYS,
RUTH IS SOOOOOO, DOWN 2 EARTH,
Thanks David!
I loved it Ruth! all the little animals, ponies, sheep, puffins, even the birds swooping, so cool! the wild flowers! Such a nice place! It must have been challenging for them before too with no running water or electricity! Wow!
Birds think you're cute and coming in for a closer look. Awesome Puffin shots! Ponies were so cool! TY!
The puffins and ponies were amazing!
The Icelandic word for bird is fugl but the word has various grammatical forms, including fugla, so I can see the connection.
I am standing here chip- carving and listening to your excursions.. so relaxing. Thank you
Ha, I can see Foula on a clear day from my House and Croft . We’ve not visited Foula yet, but certainly will do. We are lucky here as we also have Puffins on the cliffs at the side of our place, I love kayaking out to the edge of the Voe and watch them diving for sand eels. Shetland is a magical place, we love it here. Let us know if you are passing this way again, we have a spot you can use for the camper next to the beach. Love your videos. 👍👍❤️
Wow that sounds amazing! Thanks so much Adrian. I hope you can visit Foula sometime!
I visited Foula during the summer of 1980 & again the following year, 1981 to do intertidal studies of the flora & fauna. Each time I went with Brathay Exploration Group & stayed in Ristie which at that time was much more basic than clearly it is now. The island made a lasting impression on me in terms of it's sheer beauty, the cliffs, the variety of its rocky & its boulder beaches. Does the Gaarda Stack still haves its arch? I am glad to see Sheila Gear looking so hale & hearty.
As far as great rain-gear, I had good luck with a brand called Frog Togs --- they not only shed rain really well, but they're breathable. Let water vapor out while keeping the rain away. Are very light-weight and easy to stow!
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll check that brand out!
Hi Ruth, glad you enjoyed Foula. I stayed there twice in 2006 and 2008 at Ristie, both times I had fantastic weather and great interaction with the locals, sadly some of whom are no longer with us. I few around the isle, sailed around the isle and walked all the hills and coastline, had a fantastic time time there.
Loved the video and thank you for filming it. I actually purchased some Foula Wool from Magnus a few years ago and I love the cowl that I made with it. Will be following more of your videos. Thank you! Sue S., Cape Cod, MA

What a fab video! Even the mundane stuff was hypnotic. You present very well - informative in so many ways, and yet entertaining too. Brilliant - thank you
That's so nice of you to say, thank you!
I really rate Keela waterproofs, it’s what we use living here in the Scottish Highlands and can be out all day in the rain and not be wet.
Loved watching this video and the amazing real hidden gems of Scotland. Thank you for taking us on your journeys!
You inspire me everyday, me and my family love getting outdoors and it may not always go to plan, as my latest video shows of a disastrous wild camp in the Scottish wilderness! But it’s all part of the adventure!! Xx
Thank you so much for the waterproofs recommendation! Really glad to hear you’re enjoying the videos! All the best with your channel! ❤️
Great content as usual. Thanks.
Much appreciated!
The aeroplane that you flew on is an Islander. It's a very reliable aircraft for going in and out of short, difficult runways in windy conditions. I flew one from Land's End to the Scillies for a couple of years in all sorts of weather and thought it was a great plane to operate.
Oh that’s interesting they use it there too!
Shetland and Orkney are both on our bucket list. We visit Scotland every year and Mull has just become our favourite island, closely followed by Lunga with all it's wonderful puffins!
I've been soaked through like you were, but then I discovered Aussie oilskin coats. I've had mine for over 30 years. Heavy, but I fear no rain. Loved this video because of all your new friends, winged and four legged.
Dri za bone .or something like that
Thanks for the suggestion!
Fantastic video, and to have the chance to listen to the ranger/local, you just can't beat it. My wife watched you for the first time on your video of ardamuchan and loved it.... i hope you can keep them coming 👍🏴
Puffins are so darn adorable!!!!!
I love them! ❤️
What a wild adventure .. I could have eaten two of those meals !! Thanks for sharing Ruth. Love your channel. xx
great name for a book from there .. "west of the sun". I'll have to seek that one.
I’m looking forward to starting it!
I can imagine how well that dinner went down after a long wet day outdoors. Just found this channel, and love it.
Welcome aboard and thank you!!
Naivete, is so precious because once it's lost it can only be replaced by experience! The truthfulness of a bog. Dodging Hawks as they swoop towards your head. Cliffs that anyone would start tilting towards, and you're standing there. Puffins that look at you with one eye and then they turn their head and they look at you with the other eye, and that was one brain and one eye and the other eye and the other brain. Thank you. I am intending you forward into your life exclamation point.
Awesome terrain and views. Once again, thank you for sharing your adventure with us all.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video as always
Being disabled with mobility issues you take me with you and am happy Ruth
Safe travels 😊
Thank you so much for watching!!
You're videos are made in the most beautiful locations in the world Ruth!
This place is very beautiful!
@@ruthaisling Indeed! Would love to visit it myself one day.
You seem alot more happier Ruth after your setbacks in France.
I think travelling with the vehicle added an extra layer of stress to my trip
Another great trip Ruth, I loved the local dive bombers, they did get very close at times.😮 You do make these islands very appealing that’s for sure.
Look forward to the next video, safe travels Ruth.🏴
Thanks so much! It was interesting to experience those birds for the first time!
@@ruthaisling Ruth I have had the same thing happened to me but with Seagulls. There were 6 pairs nesting on the roof of this building and I needed to go into the building. They saw me as a threat to their chicks and they all started swooping down on me, I couldn’t get in the building quickly enough, and when I came back out I legged it very rapidly.😀
Wow! So small an island yet so much to see! I could stay a week or two -- as long as I had food delivered!!! Sorry that the weather reduced your ability to get up those highest peaks -- but better safe than sorry!!! Thank you for taking us along!!!
I think you might be able to order food from the supermarket on the main island!
@@ruthaisling -- OK -- I have now added the guest house as one of my possible places to retire!!! 😁
I could stay for many weeks, it looks amazing there. Seeing the ponies and all of the Puffin. I found the rangers book on Thriftbooks , looking forward to reading it. I look forward to seeing your videos each week, always a fun adventure! It's nice to know there are places left that are not over crowded, very peaceful.
Hope you enjoy the book. I’m looking forward to reading it too!
I just finished watching this video for the second time, after reading Sheila Gear's fascinating book. Thank you for suggesting it, Ruth.
As for rain clothing: I have found that "splash" jackets and splash pants designed for recreational kayaking are excellent for keeping dry. (These are NOT the same as a "dry top" and "dry pants," which are kayaking-specific, and expensive.)
That’s a great, I’m glad you enjoyed the book! And a great suggestion, thank you for sharing Frances!
🙂
What an amazing place and an excellent video Ruth! The puffins are the cutest birds!!!
Your meal looked absolutely delicious!

Interesting video, sorry but was in stitches with the bird attack 😂 great stuff 👌
Haha I’m so glad they didn’t decide to poo on me too 😂
