This was my least favourite DLC of the three and yet objectively the best made and best value. The aesthetic was really cool, but I wish that the Heist DLC got given this same amount of effort and time.
I think we'll get one much sooner than that, possibly within 5 years, Volition is probably working on the sequel now, they've learnt what people don't like, and do like, and like with the originals, the second one will be much better.
After making so much progress with Gwen, I was extremely disappointed that we did not unlock her as a Homie, it makes the whole ordeal seem pointless. Yeah we got to keep the weapons, vehicles and outfits, but why did they have Gwen in the spotlight for this DLC if we don't even unlock her as a Homie, they could have just had Eli or Neenah in the spotlight. Why make so much progress with a character we're never gonna see again?
Ngl I actually agree with this I was wondering the same thing while playing the DLC. One things that bugs me with this reboot is that we only have 3 homies/friends to hang with, and this DLC would've been the perfect chance to add Gwen as a homie considering how big of a role she had in this DLC.
I did a count of Homies per SR game. SR1 had 7 SR2 had 10 DLC included SRTT had I think 28 including DLC SRIV had over 33 including DLC With every game the Homies count kept rising, but then... SRR has 3... And that's it. From over 33 Homies, straight down to 3... Not even the first SR game was that tight fisted with Homies. Maybe they thought having a ton of Homies would be something we wouldn't miss? How wrong they were.

However I suspect the reason we only get 3 Friends/Homies in the reboot is because the devs really want to drive home to us that Kev, Neenah, and Eli are our "friends." Therefore because of that they refuse to give us more people to hang out with besides just the three of them. It's a serious disappointment we didn't get more people to hang out with. Not to mention they also don't have any conversations. In previous games your homies wouldn't just sit there in silence they would actually talk to eachother. If they were only going to give us 3 homies the least they could've done was make homie conversations for them to have. 😮💨
Remember she still works for Marshall, the Boss and the Saints don't care about the law but Gwen does. TO have her as a homie would mean she'd be joining you in killing Marshall and civilians. Just wouldn't make sense. In the Larping scene they're friends, but outside of that they're not.
I'm about halfway through the LARP DLC now. It's been surprisingly fun so far. The coyote hunt was cartoonishly fun, the racing bit was great, and several of the yeti's one-liners legit made me laugh. I'm currently on the stealth mission. It works best if you pretend you're not playing a Saints Row game, though.
From the sound of it, this DLC is for Volition by Volition with the option for other people to play it too (you can also apply that to the base game tbh). I personally don't mind it but yeah, out of all the things to go all in on, it had to be this.
on one hand, this DLC seems needless but on the other hand i lowkey enjoyed it lol and i kinda like the new larping outfits for the boss, kev, eli and neenah. plus after this DLC, gwen is starting to grow on me because i thought she was gonna betray me but she stuck with me and i appreciate that.
Of course the DLC very little people care about has the most effort put into it lmao. I’m glad this last DLC is finally out, now we don’t have to hear about this awful game anymore. Now give us the SR2 patch on PC and never let Volition touch Saints Row ever again. Wouldn’t mind if another developer made a SR game
Patch is in the works. Volition get a lot of flack for saints row but from things I hear, it's not that clear cut, volition have creativity but it always seems they're held back either by themselves or other things, I don't mind them trying saints row again if they wished to, I just want them to be able to bring there all. I think volition need a break from saints row and vice versa, I'm excited for the next project they have that isn't saints row tbh But I tell you something, I'm certainly looking forward to covering some other stuff

Nah, whilst I'll agree that the main story is weak, the core game is possibly the best in the series, Santo Ileso is better than Steelport, rivaling Stilwater, the vehicles have better handling, and customisation, even the weapons have customisation now, and the activities are as fun as ever.

The gameplay is clunky, gunplay still feels off, story is one of the worst things I’ve ever played, characters are annoying/cringe as fuck, and the dialogue is so bad. While Santo Ileso is easily better than Steelport, I wouldn’t say it rivals Stilwater because of the lack of interiors around the map and cool easter eggs like the Cabbit, Jason Voorhees skull/mask and Volition island in SR2
I now people hate toe Larping arc, but as a nerd I loved it, it serves as a nice break from the main story, it does something you wouldn't expect criminials like the Saints to do, they literally put their crime stuff on hold to join Eli in this activity he likes, and being a whole gang they have the numbers to form a House of their own, it also gives us some resolution with Gwen as she's absent from the main story after the Boss gets fired, it serves to show Gwen has a softer side and isn't so bad and help patch her and the Boss's relationship a bit. THe Boss even refrains from killing anyone and shows here that they can follow some rules. Overall I loved the Larping arc and DLC. Really wish there was mission replay or some ore Larping activities you could do.
Quite enjoyed this dlc, some of the dialogue made me and clam giggle a bit. Really enjoy the new weapon 😌 while yes it isn’t exactly saints row, if we look past that (😱 shocker) it’s a bit of cheeky fun
I finished the LARP DLC today and these are my honest thoughts. ●First mission was kind of mid ●I surprisingly had fun with the second mission ●Third mission felt mid as well ●Fourth mission was kind of fun ●Fifth mission was also kind of fun Overall I give the DLC a 6.5/10 it was slightly better than I thought it was going to be initially, but I still hate the LARPING as a whole. I do agree with what you said regarding the effort, and passion that was put into the DLC. They put lots of passion into this, but it was misplaced the majority of the community has said that they hate the LARPING, so the fact that they chose to put so much effort and passion into something that most of the community have said they hate is honestly what bothers me the most with this DLC. I personally wish they would have put that same level of dedication effort and passion into the Hiest and Hazardous DLC.🤷♂️
The new Saints row is just weird in general I'm glad I bought the game discounted and decided myself if i liked the game because the story could have been trash and the gameplay could have been amazing but that sadly wasn't the case
People did enjoy the larping though. Content creators and gamers are on social media don't always represent the whole or even represent a good sample size of the whole. The devs said they did a lot of research about what aspects of the new game people loved, so that's how they settled on larping for the big DLCs. And for me, it actually feels more modern and less cringe than if they'd try to recreate the feeling of Saints Row 1/2. It doesn't feel cringe to have characters that are sincere and just want to goof around. It would however feel cringe to try to do edgy badass gangsters with one-liners.
The problem is internal testing and community stance is different, if you ask 100 people who enjoy saints row how they feel about larping, I reckon less then 20% would say they enjoyed it, with even lower saying they'd want a dlc on it. I'm not saying I represent the community's thoughts, in fact I tend to be far more forgiving with SR2022 then most. But larping was by far the most dreaded DLC out the three and I always intend to give my thoughts on stuff. As for saints row 2 style games in modern time, the community has been crying for a game along the same style of saints row 2/1 for a long time, so that's always gonna be the stance people have, for me, I enjoy all the games so I'm cool regardless. Unfortunately if people really did like this style of game it'd have had a better reception and sales, I personally enjoyed the game a LOT more then most I have 25 days played, but it'd undeniable the game AT BEST was polarizing, just look at online reviews and sales.
I know both devs and publisher staff and not once have I ever heard of them doing any surveying publicly, it's all internal to my knowledge Actually I can't go into detail, but I learned recently some interesting stuff about how this dlc came around and lets just say player preference wasn't the reason.

I would love to see another Dev team take a crack at the Saints Row franchise.

I enjoyed the larping and I really got a few laughs from this one
I liked the larping but not the mission to assassinate a target using larping gear, i thought the game was awesome
