You really need to use a different swab for each eye and nostril. If there is infection, you will spread it to those areas not affected initially and cause a bigger problem.
Use half a cotton ball on the eyes and give time for the "eyewash" to soak into the dirt. The canal where the dirt resides can be separated with your fingers. You will see the channel open up. Use the 1/2 cotton ball to remove dirt and your fingernail to scrape stubborn spots. Follow with a facecloth to dry and remove the last remains. If the hair/fur is stained, step up the cleaning schedule to 2x a day to see what happens. The staining should go away. I use eyewash which is less likely to irritate. It contains the same salt content as tears plus a tiny amount of boric acid, which is in eyewash for humans.
@@5czv You can use cotton rounds. I cut them in half, use one on each eye. The q tip is best because you can twirl it. Twirling helps remove black stuff, especially in the nose. Twirl one way, thenthe other and that gets all the stuff out. My cat doesn’t mind so i don’t wrap her up.
@@totallydomestic433 It's a Bausch and Lomb product called Advance Eye Relief eye wash. Since the solution isn't really going into the eye, sometimes I use tap water. I've since found that a small scrap of paper towel works even better than the cotton. It soaks up the water faster and cleans better. I had also used a washcloth but the paper towel, I think, works the best. Don't hesitate to ask any questions.
You don't need to remove dirt like that! Just wet a cotton ball and slowly clean it! The way you are doing it could hurt the cat, if she jumps and could damage her eyes. Guys pls don't use any such pointed objects to clean ur cat as she uses in the video.
I agree with RetroCheats - I gently used my fingernai to remove my cat's frequent black crusty lumps - takes about three seconds. Much faster than this - cats don't really like it but it removes the black discharge very quickly.
@@hamburgercat18 I’m not using the same qtip for all areas and I’m using both sides of the qtip. I’m using around 20pcs of quips every time I’m cleaning my cat
My cat Blossom is exactly like your cat! Looks like her twin. I use a small pyrex bowl. I do exactly as you gut i do put the bowl in the micro wave for 10 seconds to get it warm. That helps the water to break up the black stuff. Blossom is a ragdoll is Snowey?
What are you doing to that poor little kitten?! I have to bathe my Birman cat’s eyes and nose every morning and have done since I had him at twelve weeks. You don’t have to hold the cat in a towel. Just put a cotton ball under warm water and use one side, to soften the crust then gently use the other side to remove it. It takes no more than thirty seconds. I use the same method to remove any hardened food from his nostril. It’s just part of his morning routine which he enjoys!
Nope, this is not ok. To clean her eyes you can use your fingers and nails. It takes waaay less, does not hurt her and you do not need to sqeeze her throat. 👎
If you held a cotton ball with warm water to loosen the dirt first you wouldn't have to pull as hard.
calmest cat ever lol

can i use cotton pads?
@@5czv I think you can use anything clean, soft, and absorbent.
What is the name of the eyewash please?

My vet advised me to put little salt in warm water and use that water to clean the eyes.
What type of salt?
@@scarletwarlock9325 He didn’t precise. I think the salt we use for food.
@@teachernisrinezenati5488I think sea salt would be a better option maybe

Try using kitchen roll. That tissue paper is thick and one paper cleans whole face
Should you be using the same qtip for all areas? Wont that spread bacteria?
u should never use the same q-tip for all the same areas. always change them frequently so you do not spread the discharge onto the other eye or nose.

My cat trusts my finger more the a swab.. I woder if I should just use a warm finger.

please don't press on throat 😞
2 times bath a month for a cat its to much
Thank you 🙏🏼
She's doing it wrong!! Just pit tiny bit of baseline on stop or cotton ball , comes right off All of it.
Agree she might hurt the cats eyes too
exactly
What is baseline?? I'm English. What's the equivalent??
@@pauleckersley6132I believe they meant vaseline, but Aquaphor may be better. To be safe ask your vet.

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
YES!!!!!!!
first of all, your finger could be dirty AND your nails could have more dirt in them with means your cat can have an eye infection
AND ALSO she is not squeezing her throat too hard
who said that the cotton swabs hurt? nails are sharper and can hurt your cats eyes
its better to do with finger
It's not, you can poke the cat's eye if you do that
Grabe nmn po yung dumi sa eyes ng pusa.you should do it regularly po para di dumikit sa balat ng pusa at di sya masaktan
To be honest, I didn’t clean her eyes for 2 days just to make that video so don’t say grabe and FYI I’m cleaning my cat’s eyes, ears and nose 2x a day
One baby wipe and that's all you need.
thanks
My cat name is snowy
We can't do the same thing to a street cat . Because they get wild
They won't if they grew up with you
I use my fingers
