Love all these themes. Would play all weekend nights on the snes & n64. Gotta give props to the makers of the new theme as well. IMO it still carries the soul of the original KI, but with updated/modern guitar playing. The original & it's wailing guitar solo is timeless of course, but it's good to see Double Helix do a good job keeping the soul intact.
Kids nowadays don't understand a room's walls vibrating to the amazing sound of a real 2.1 stereo system. back in the days of 6 foot loudspeakers, and the full fury of a beautiful mix, pounding out beautiful dynamic range. those days are gone, and it blows.

So i'm the only one who like so much the new theme from Killer Instinct 3. It's so...Over Power. And the game is not bad at all. But it's just my opinion.
I was an arcade junkie from 93 - 96. KI was entering the arcades when MK2 was slowly dying in popularity. There was a brief time when Primal Rage usurped MK2 as the crown of aracde fighters in 94. I still remember a dozen young adults standing around the KI machines. It was surreal. It came out of left field. Most arcade fighter games of the time were copies of Street Fighter. Primal Rage had its 15 mins of fame, but many do not remember those 15 mins for PR. But anyone who visited arcades in 94 remembers KI. When someone did an 'Ultra' combo, everyone around the machine cheered. Seeing players pull off anything more than a 6 hit combo was rare (no pun intended). And we always stayed away from the players who could consistently pull off combos on the meta characters. We knew we would lose our 50 cents quickly. If memory serves me, MK3 did well competing against KI. However, when MK3 was released, it was about the same time arcades, in general, were dying. Still, when we could find KI1 machines, many of us chose KI over MK3. By the time KI2 hit the arcades, MK3 was already on the PlayStation. MK3 Ultimate was the last "popular" MK for the arcades. And arcades were close to near death in terms of popularity by 96. In my area, when KI2 entered the arena, the crowds had died down, KI2 was "popular', but nowhere near as popular as KI1. KI1 may have been the last original popular fighter for that hobby.

I loved playing this game when I was little. Best personal memory of this franchise was completing arcade mode in KI2/KI: Gold with my go-to main the Tiger Ninja himself Jago and the combo taking down Gargos was a 52 hit juggle Ultra Combo that had Jago's version of the Shoryuken as the starting move.
GODS! I remember playing this with friends on their SNES!!! Later found the arcade version at the mall. Even got into KI2! I still remember playing KI2 at the arcade. And kicking ass so bad someone offered a $50 bet. The best 2 out of 3 would win. The last fight and 2 hits Im dead. He had full second bar. I was using Orchid, cant remember his char. I pulled off my first 100 hit combo to win. We had drawn a crowd in the arcade for this fight. I leaned against the machine worn out. I had held my breathe the whole final battle...wow such memories of a great game...just hope KI3 wont disappoint!!
