The fact that Big Boss himself shed a tear is very emotional. Even the toughest man, trained not to break by The Boss herself, had emotions as well. What an ending. It holds a very special place in our hearts.
That SECOND build-up and crescendo, starting at 5:06, that hits SO hard. After he's been showered with accolades and granted the title Big Boss, he's standing alone at the cemetery in Arlington, and you feel the rage and emptiness consuming him. And it's in this quiet moment that everything, EVERYTHING is set in motion. Outer Heaven. Les Enfants Terrible. Metal Gear. ALL of it becomes cemented into inevitability in this private moment. Sends CHILLS down my spine!
That's where it's cemented, but not where it begins imo. To me, the genesis is at 1:00. Literally the Peace Walker theme. Having to salute and be showered with praise to finish his mission after what he's done is the biggest insult to injury.
That's the moment why I keep coming back to this song... Tragic. Dutiful. Encouraging. Memorable. Superlative. Honorable. Brings me chills. Representative of the ideals that have the potential to set Humanity apart from defeat, right into the arms of greatness.
One shall die and one shall live. No victory, no defeat. The survivor will inherit the title of Boss and whomever inherits the title of Boss will face an existence of endless battle...
I felt like that with Solidus too. Think of him what you will but nothing makes me angrier than feeling like a puppet on a string but that's exactly what I was for that fight.
It's an amazing experience when you can go through a game like this, you feel as tough you've endured all the hardships along with Snake. All the battles, the pain, and the sorrows. By the time you reach the end, you feel all the emotions he is. Killing The Boss is one of the hardest things, I'm sure, many of us have had to do in a game. And you bet your ass, when I beat it on European Extreme, I stood up and saluted The Boss' grave along side Snake. May we never forget The Joy.....
LonesomeSparrow7 I almost could not pull the trigger. To see snakes mentor there dying and have you be the one who ends it.It was different for others but for her...it was heartbreaking.
You can sum it the entire Big Boss's experience here with his fighting against Cobra Unit: He went out and held his "pain" after The Boss betrayed him. Conquered his "fear" to move forward. Determined his professionalism to reach the "end". Endured his "fury" for all things he had witnessed. Overcame his "sorrow" from all the tortures he had to endure. And killed his "joy" to finish the mission. Naked Snake, a tragic man...
I’m not gonna lie. This moment got me all the time. I can’t even describe how many emotions it makes you go through. You feel sad for the boss, at the same time happy that she succeeded her mission, you’re disgusted for what the people whose BB shakes hands with did to the boss, but you understand that it was for everybody’s own good, and at the end of it, you feel stupid when big boss starts crying on the graveyard and you realize the good guy wasn’t who he thought. It’s not Solid Snake, nor Big Boss in fact.
My ex died recently, she was buried yesterday. I have very conflicted feelings about her because we were together for a long time, there were good moments and bad alike. I visited her grave today and this song came to mind, it was very solemn but also marks the end of that chapter in my life, I have closure now.
The Boss and Revolver Ocelot.....Mother and son.....the two greatest heroes of the whole Metal Gear Saga Everything they did, they did for the sake of others, in the end. And took stically all the hatred, the dishonor, the blame and even death We spent whole games hating them, just because they knew they could take it for the sake of their country and ultimately of the whole world Whatever happens, we will always remember them as the heroes they were. Well, when I think about it. Complete silence when Snake stood at the grave would have been emotional as well, maybe only his cries. But the song is a masterpiece
So important that even just listening to the music alone, without visuals, I cry every time.
