Yea, I think there was an instance in volume 5 about the already reincarnation happening so quickly as well.
I also don't think oz has ever reincarnated into a kid.

Haven was Cinder's fault because, if it wasn't for her falling for Raven's spiel about Qrow because of her hatred for Ruby, they would've got the relic and destroyed the tower without the heroes even being there

I dont think the tower would have fallen as the WF attack was scheduled, so Blake and the Militia would still arrive and prevent that ... but Salem would have the relic

The WF Attack on Haven was always planed to be on the full moon - go back to Vol5 Ep3 and Ghiras speech
Also in Ep9 when Raven requests time to think Watts rejects her with there is no time 2 days from now the WF attacks Haven.
So when Cinder says they wait until the full moon ... she is saying they wait those 2 day and take the relic the same night the WF attacks ...
That means that in the original plan Cinder and Co go get the relic 2-1 day before the WF attacks but the attack happens on the same night as in the show meaning Blake and the Militia still arrive and prevent the WF from destroying it. Hazel would not fight them for Adam he has no motivation to fight anyone outside Oz who does not get in his way ... and Leo if he is still at school would not have courage to out himself as a traitor publicly.
Salem seemed more interested in claiming the lamp rather than the destruction of Haven and Cinders change in plan delayed getting the lamp so she could kill Ruby causing everything to fail

Also the fact that he managed to reorganize so quickly. My guess is that it usually takes him longer to bond with his new host. Oscar was pretty easy to convince all things considered.

@@chandler4880 Not just Lionheart, in this episode, Wats was surprised that Ozpin had teamed up with them so soon. When you think about it, Ozpin could have reincarnated into anyone in the world and of all people he happened to get someone within a short train ride of Mistral.
add in that every reincarnation of oz we have seen he was older. oscar is the youngest we have ever seen. maybe it takes years for him to find and then bond so this is a surprise to everyone.

Oof...that really hurt Ruby's heart. You can see the pain on her face. She doesn't feel like she was lying; and she still cares about Oscar, whom she views as an innocent in all this. Plus Qrow is kind of undercutting her as a leader with that bitter remark.
Hes not undercutting her leadership. In fact he's kind of helping her by telling her that. The truth is always going to hurt so I agree that it was a bitter remark.
Honestly, I don't think Cinder killing OG Beacon Ozpin was explicitly ordered. I think Cinder had quite a bit of autonomy and that was just something that happened, probably provoked by Oz himself. Cinder would have welcomed a chance to flex her new, true powers against someone that she might normally avoid a fight with.
So for Salem, putting Ozpin out of the way leaves her to run roughshod over Remnant for a few years at least.
Im thinking it was more of a 3 objectives mission, 1 Get the maiden powers and the relic, 2 Destroy the tower, and 3 kill Ozpin so he doesn't interferes further.

Just want to take a moment and thank Puns of Damage for the well-wishing tail of her video and for being a lovely human being in general. I don’t have a large RWBY community where I’m at (none who are caught up anyways) so I like watching these videos and feeling part of the fandom. So thank you for uploading these reactions, they’re fun to watch!
I'm thinking back to Volume 4, and when Salem asks Cinder "Did you kill Ozpin?", maybe that was less of an "I asked you to kill Ozpin, did you do it?", and more of a "Did you kill Ozpin? Because that means we have to start looking for him again."
Also, it technically was Cinder's fault. She was the one who altered the plan and let Raven and Vernal join in the Fall of Haven instead of just taking the Maiden powers, and when Watts said "If this goes to Hell, it's your fault," she said that was fine (IIRC, anyway).
It was Cinder's fault because she was the one who let her vendetta towards Ruby complicate the plan a lot more that what they needed it. They had the relic handed in a silver plate by Lionheart but she fell in Raven's trap/provocations and made things harder

Judging by all of the clues presented, I'd think that there's a waiting period between reincarnations. Long enough for Salem to make a move at the very least. Which is why it makes sense for the 'so soon?' line and Salem's... outburst.

I know it's been a while since you recorded this and might have changed your mind on it, but I feel the reason Salem is so pissed is that she *didn't* send Cinder to kill Ozpin. Remember back in Volume 4, Salem was interrogating Cinder on if she did in fact kill Ozpin. It didn't have the "so was your mission successful" vibe, but rather the "what the hell did you do" vibe. Ozpin is a wildcard Salem can't afford to be on the loose right now and Cinder is repeatedly screwing up.
VegetaLF7 I’m going to have to disagree with you. During the meeting in V4C1, she was speaking to the others, “..and killed dear Ozpin, so I’m curious, just what failures are you referring to..?” She seemed pleased at the thought of Ozpin being dead, not to mention she called it a success, not a failure.
@@ferryn6877 Yea I think she was expecting the reincarnation or alt least him rejoining the fight to take longer than this. So in Volume 4 she was pleased that while this means she does not really know where he will pop up ... neither do her enemies and they are now without a head which leaves her to do as he pleases in general, and even once he appears again it will take time for him to get back to his people and he will not be as powerful ... but Oz being there already is for her him basically messing with her basically throwing it right in her face ...even through that is not really true but with her emotions that would be what she would look at this as.

Anyone else slightly curious on who Arryn would pick between the "hot goth mother Salem" and Ozma
I think Salem reacted that way for two reasons. One, like many have said she was not expecting him to reincarnate so soon. She probably thought she would have a few years of being able to wreck shit up without having to worry about Oz getting in the way.
The second and more important reason is that she really just hates Ozpin that much. They had one of the most epic break ups in history and she is still angry about it. Salem is smart enough to know that keeping Oz a prisoner is the best move but she hates him so much she can't stop herself from killing him every chance she gets. Its a lot like how Hazel reacted when he saw that Ozpin was at the fight, he knew it was a dumb way to handle it but his anger and rage just overwhelmed him. For Salem its probably the same thing but on a much more intense level.
Remember what she said at the end of volume 3 "I can't wait to watch you burn" and how did she kill Ozpin after their first fight, she burned him alive. Its like Hazel said she want to kill him over and over and over again and she wants to do it the same way she did it the first time

I think Salem thought she would have more time before ozpin made a move again. she probably calculated a lot of the current relic hunting plan under the assumption that it would take longer to find a host - even Tyrion was shocked it was so soon

You're one of my favorite Rwby reactors and to hear something like come from you was extremely touching. It's something that goes very unsaid as I am someone whom feels very alone in my family. No one listens to me or goes out of their way to be around me. I dont feel close to them at all and it's sad. I sometimes wish I could meet people like me whom would understand me and be open to listening

With someone as skilled as Ozpin, killing is definitely easier than capturing him since Cinder probably couldn't really hold back (that shield thing alone...). So far, the only real chance to capture Ozma would have been after that first fight, but Salem was freshly "betrayed" and SUPER pissed (also her children seemingly were collateral damage) and body #2 would have long since died by now anyway.
Maybe if Hazel had somehow recognized him at the train station? No semblance or cane, at least.
Let's put it this way, in 2 episodes CRWBY introduces the scariest concept thusfar.

I understand their point of view on Ozpin, but I REALLY see it from his view too...
The first swear I remember hearing in RWBY is Coco saying "Damn" when she lost Em in the vytal festival (remember those times? Good times...)
While you hate the lighting at your home for the purpose of recording, it is nice not having to worry about volume as much as in your campus accommodations - your singing is much nicer with far greater clarity when you're not having to restrain your voice... it's quite nice, in fact!

Trying to capture someone is much harder than trying to kill someone. Cinder had just come into her full Maiden powers, and the battle seemed pretty intense. The plan could have been something like "capture him if you can, but otherwise kill him so that we can get a period of time where he can't do anything". And even then Ozpin could probably just swallow a cyanide tooth or do a "commit suicide" spell in order to force the respawn. I doubt he doesn't have contingency plans to deal with exactly the sort of scenario you were suggesting.
I think Ozpin forced her hand. He isn't going to risk being taken hostage, so he forced Cinder to kill him.
I think they were all surprised that Ozpin reincarnated so quickly. I figured that there might be some period of time before he passes on to his next incarnation, so they were counting on getting some shit done before he reincarnated.
I don't think she wants to see Ozma no matter who he's inhabiting. She still loves him, and she can't stand that.
It would be safer to capture Oz, but not to bring him to the wastes. For all we know, Oz doesn't know where she is at the moment (after she may have found out that Oz has been trying to spy, she may have relocated).

Sorry, I'm not pretending that this is easy nor that it's fair. Obviously everyone's reaction is appropriate but let's be honest after last episode it all makes perfect sense it all makes perfect sense and trying to demonize Oz is quite possibly the most selfish and cruel act of projection in the world this. You think he doesn't get it? This is something I often feel whenever scenes like this happen. You know these ones:

My response to that no matter how justifiable the reaction to the reveal is is usually some variation of "why did I lie? Think of everything that was just explained to you okay. Every single word right down to the f****** syllable. Now... please ask me that question again." This isn't someone embarrassed or ashamed of some wrongdoing this this is a person who has died and come back from the dead multiple times for possibly millions of years we don't know and the first time he died he was brought back and then died again within seconds over and over.... and worst of all the fate of all of reality rests on their shoulders. Oz has ALLLLLLLL the reasons to keep us in the dark as manipulative and unfair as it is

You thinking that every person would lie to their allies is a stupid assumption. Ozpin isn't in any position to be anyone's savior let alone humanity's. Think about it without all the emotions from both sides. Yes, Ozpin has lived many lives and has experienced hardships. Yeah, he accepted responsibility from the God of Light. He did it because he was selfish and didn't even listen to the Brother. Not only that, It's counterintuitive to have your most trusted be the most uninformed. You don't seem to get that these people aren't cultists who only worry about fulfilling the needs of their leader. They aren't just hunters/huntresses whose only purpose was to fight and die; you can call it an ego issue or whatever you like, but these people willingly put their trust into someone who turned out to more or less full of shit, and when they found out what was really up they gave back a negative reaction. Ozpin has no one to blame but himself because no matter how you try to spin it, at the end of the day they were just pawns.

Christian Schmude, personally we can’t say one way or another what we would have done in Oz’s situation. Doing so is like a new recruit in the military saying they won’t freak out in their first battle. There are situations in life that we don’t know how we will respond until it happens. Now in spite of that, I think due to Ozpin living for so long he has fallen into a common trap you find in people who are nearly immortal. They become jaded in their world view. Which causes them to have difficulty to trust people around them; almost like they unconsciously think of themselves being smarter from living longer, which isn’t always true.
@@SpiderandMosquito I'm glad you also understand how rough Ozpin has it. It's easy to look form our own small pictures and feel offended, but it's apparently hard for most people to stop and think for a minute. "What would I do in Oz's position for all of those lifetimes?", because nothing or giving up didn't stop his reincarnating. He still kept living, dying, and repeating until he finally got the will to do what he can to save the world as he was charged to do again, thanks to the maidens.
Now Oz is not some grand manipulator who feels no shame. He told Ruby to her face he has made more mistakes than any man, woman, or child. These are the words of someone who has MANY regrets, but is forced to keep moving forward, regardless how he hates his situation.
7:30 "I love how the wastes just kinda have a Covenant vibe to them" You know, I'm surprised I didn't realise that, the landing platform outside Salem's castle is similar to some areas in Halo 2 in terms of layout.
And what you said at about 15:05 kinda makes me want to play some Halo 2 missions now.
Ozpin's lack of plan is something that really is down to him being so focused on wanting to kill Salem to try and stop her that he never considered if there were other options and how everyone reacted to finding out he had no plan was great, especially Qrow and the delivery of the line by Vic Mignogna. But Oz's reaction to that is easily what tells us the most, he never wanted to be found out to have no plan and now that people know, he's hiding, too afraid of what's going to happen next. Oscar being worried he'll be another one of Oz's disposable bodies is also a great thing to have him worry about, even if Qrow was a bit of an a***hole to Ruby for trying to make him feel better, there is truth to what he said.
Maria taking control was great, especially with the info we learnt in Chapter 6 giving some context to her, and it seems like she'll be leading them from this point onwards.
Tyrian's scene with Emerald was perfect, showing us how mad he truly is, not just by pretending to be concerned but also how he so willingly cut himself in Emerald's weapon to make a point. That was both a power move and a great way to intimidate someone.
Jen Taylor's delivery of the lines in this chapter was also perfect, she was not having any excuses. Seeing through Hazel's lie (Which was likely to protect Emerald for potentially being punished in Cinder's place since at the time neither he nor Emerald knew Cinder was alive) and just attacking him with the freaky Grimm hand portal (Like, please, don't attack me with those) and calmly asking Emerald was so well done. Then her reaction to finding out Oz reincarnated so soon could mean she still has some feelings for him, although, I hope it's just more a "Come on, it normally takes much longer for this to happen" angry scream (But he's such a bad person to be honest, she can do so much better than him, Oz lies to everyone, even his closest allies).
Also, agreed, it would've been a much safer bet to lock up Ozpin and keep him prisoner, he's too much of a risk to constantly kill him every time he comes back (Which is an inversion of the trope of someone being too dangerous to be left alive that I like).

Locking up Ozpin is not as easy as you think. Cinder did beat Ozpin, but if she hadn't gone all out, she might of lost, and Ozpin's going to fight to the death - he knows being captured would be worse. If Ozpin was imprisoned, he could just suicide and reincarnate anyway. It's pointless, just kill him.

And yes I did get that message on the community which frustrates me as to now we have gone to your videos when we click on them it connects but won't play because its blocked to it being fully on blocked. But as to this episode I really felt bad about Oscar and how he's now tied up in something that wasn't his choice rather like Pyrrah in my opinion when it came to her being the next Fall Maiden before you know. And I got tired of how people were complaining and criticizing about the face Oscar made when Qrow punched him and me going "you forget Qrow an adult just punched Oscar a boy and you are complaining about the face!?" But its their opinion in the end. The problem with capturing someone. Especially someone like oz. Is how. He has magic. He was strong enough to go toe to toe with a maiden..
its easier to kill than capture. And restraining someone who was at near the top of their game is more dangerous than risking at worst a weak fresh reincarnation. Also oz could just kill himself once imprisoned as a last ditch exit. Which is something that has probably already happened. Salem and oz have been at this for millenia after all, like playing chess with a close friend regularly for decades. You learn how they think. And how they think you think.
Oz is less dangerous now than he was. And wasnt expected to reincarnate so soon as well. Tactically speaking theres less risk involved in killing oz. If she captured oz and oz got out. He could gain more intel on salems plan. Or severely injure or even kill cinder. Robbing salem of a key advantage. Or learning the identity of her agents. Oz didnt know the big fella was an agent of salem's but did know he was an enemy of ozpin's which shows how little intel oz had. And how much effort salem put to keeping it that way.

Oscar's kind of being thrown into the deep end here, minimal training in Ozpin's skills, time to build muscle reflexes, and he's already reunited with his agents, obtained a relic, and has enough firepower to drive off two hostile Maidens and their entourage - including the same Maiden who killed him, and has gotten even stronger since then.
That's a hell of a comeback, especially in only a few months.
@16:52 Two points. First, Cinder, or at least the Fall Maiden, seems to be more destructive - fire, gale force winds, lightning strikes...she might've been able to hobble him like she did Pyrrha, but he's tough and experienced enough that I'm not sure she could've pulled off just incapacitating him, rather then either accidentally killing him, or holding back enough for him to subdue her. Plus, she didn't know if he might've had more significant backup coming then Jaune and Pyrrha, or if the rampaging Grimm might've collapsed Beacon on them if she didn't get back out and in command.
Second, as for keeping Ozma trapped even if Salem manages to capture his current host...well, first, she seems to have some major anger and self-control issues, even if she's had enough practice to not just kill her subjects out of hand, and second...between anything he might pick up on while in her center of power, not sure how well she'd be able to stop him from dying of old age, or just, well, biting his own tongue off and choking to death on his own blood if he decides his current situation is too untenable.
Ruthless and horrifying to consider, but not out of the realm of possibility for him to have resorted to in a long enough timeframe.

To put it bluntly Salem could physically imprison Ozpin but She or a maiden she trusted would probably have to be the guard and emotionally I think she hates him so much she wouldn't be able to keep herself from killing him. After all, she wants freedom and by deciding to leave her without a fellow immortal companion Ozpin essentially had thrown her back into her prison of loneliness. Lastly capturing him would only work for one lifetime and might end up giving his confidants the will to launch a raid on her and if successful that might lead to her lair being severely damaged her confidants being dead and a potential discovery of a way to beat her not involving killing and that ideas potential immediate implementation. All in I think it's to risky resource draining, emotionally draining for her, and ultimately ineffective in the long long term for it to be worth her time to capture Ozpin. This is especially true if he usually takes a while to reincarnate like Watts seemed to indicate and thus maybe tipping the calculus towards killing him as quickly as possible whenever possible instead of capture.
Also Ozpin might be willing to kill himself and his host with magic to force reincarnation if he feels that's the best way out of capture and who knows he might be able to speed up reincarnation (which he might have done this time around).
I took Pyrrha's last stand as a defense of the comm tower. Trying to incapacitate Oz might have compromised that.

Ozpin presumably still has enough magic to kill himself if he's ever successfully imprisoned by Salem, and she can't spend all her time keeping her eye on him to prevent that

2. We don't have confirmation that Salem ordered the killing, just that she wanted to make sure of the facts from Cinder after the fact.
I think Salem specifically sent *CINDER* to kill Ozpin, not as Cinder Fall, but as the Fall Maiden. I think she believed that maybe if powers that were originally from Ozpin were used to kill him, maybe his curse would end. Just conjecture, but it's been something rolling around in my brainpan for a while now.

About the snow: The snow per se isn't a big deal. The temperature is. There's snow, so it's decently below freezing. There's a decent wind, so wind chill. When the sun goes down it will get really cold really fast, and they will need to find shelter somehow. Wilderness Survival 101 for cold areas (not Arizona :-)

Salem and Ozpin both have the same power/problem: It seems impossible to imprison a true magic user (without the help of a relic, at least).
Emotions clouding the judgement of a leader, leading them to making dumb mistakes, is a problem as old as time, unfortunately. Also, just because Ozpin can't destroy Salem, doesn't mean that Salem can't be defeated. See the 'No Man of Woman Born' trope.
