Good video, we are Canadian tourists who enjoyed Costa Rica for the first time. We were hit by this massive rain (Nov 8-13). Although it was cool to see soo much water falling from the clouds, we were limited in things we could safely do in Uvita. We would have loved to walk on the beach under the rain, but we felt unsafe to walk the paths leading to the beaches, mostly because all the small rivers heading towards the ocean were flooded and we fear the unknown to us -- the crocodiles. We know how to behave if you see a Grizzly bear to increase your chance of survival, but we have no clue what to do if you see a crocodile. We will be back under a better sky lol. Thank you for suggesting the mangroves boat tour -- it was amazing! Pura Vida!!!!

Hopefully next trip you will have better weather. It takes some getting used to being in the environment containing crocodiles, but unless you enter their environment there is little danger, but always good to be aware. Going out with a guide the first few times can help you get a good feel for what is safer practices. The reality is there is very little risk of encountering a crocodile on the beaches in Uvita.

Good stuff ! Still my favorate danger is when a tree or rock pile is cleared from the road its to the edge of the road. Not a inch more.

Great video! I would be great to have a more in-depth video about safety and crime. There is a lot of mixed and contradictory information out there. It seems like that a lot has changed in recent years for the worse. The fact that most houses for expats are either in gated communities or have pretty massive security measures at their windows, doors, roof, etc. speaks for itself...
What do you think? Which areas are reasonably safe? I wish there were a map where crime risk where colorcoded similar to temperature or rainfall maps.

That is a very insightful comment, there is definitely a lot of contradictory info out there and this is a topic I definitely have been planning on doing a video on.
