Being a lifelong Metalhead, I head never ever heard of the Japanese Metal scene until last year, thanks to an American reaction channel. (I owe him!) And I never heard of "Hanabie" and Harajukucore until a few months ago, but I instantly fell in love with both of them.
Lovebites, Nemophila, Hanabie: What a Metal playlist! And that is only the _tip_ of the iceberg. I _know_ that I only scratched the surface up to now. Incredible.

Hanabie are pure 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Their album “Girl’s Reform Manifest” is still the best thing I’ve bought this year. Treat yourself to MVs for “L.C.G.”, “Reiwa Matching Generation”, “Envy” and their ADO cover “ODO” (which they appropriate). Hanabie aren’t just a gimmick, they are the real deal, working their way round underground live houses as we speak.

    Hanabie (pronounced HAHN-a-bi-ǝ)
This is what you get when Babymetal and Maximum the Hormone have a love child. They actually started in high school, playing MTH covers. Clearly one of THE new metal bands to watch (my pick for best new band of 2021--they've actually been around since high school, but broke this year) Members:
    Vocalist (Harsh, rap)- Yukina
Guitarist and Clean vocals - Matsuri
Bassist and backing vocals - Hettsu
    Drums - Sae
They just dropped their first EP. Their producer is Gaku Taura, who is a support drummer for Crystal Lake. He has his own studio, Soul Japan.
    You have to check out:
    Reiwa matching generation (NSFW): th-cam.com/video/LOs_Th_qyIs/w-d-xo.html

You were not expecting that? NOBODY was expecting THAT! Hahahaha!
PANTERA meets Willy Wonka! HARAJUKUCORE! ( Yukina is SO CUTE! ) Hettsu is cute too!

    Yukina - harsh vocals
    Matsuri - guitar/clean vocals
    Hettsu - bass/chorus
    Sae - drums
Yukina, Matsuri, and Hettsu met in high school and started doing Maximum the Hormone covers. Sae joined in late 2019 which was perfect for both the band and Sae.
I wasn't really surprised at Yukina's vocals since I was big into PassCode before this and their orinigal harsh vocalist Yuna has a very similar growl.

I'll tell you the original meaning of the word "Hanabie". "Hanabie" is a beautiful word from ancient Japan that expresses the coldness of the season when cherry blossoms bloom by writing "The flowers(Hana) are cold(bie)." 🌸 Warmth dominates in April, but sometimes a cold high with cold air from high latitudes descends south and becomes cold. By the way, in the Tokyo area, April 6 and 23rd are often the days of low temperature.

Such a great song and band! Any of their other MV's are also well worth checking out, in chronological order from oldest to newest they are:
    Envy
    L.C.G
    Reiwa Dating Apps Generation
I'll also recommend checking out a band called Gacharic Spin, their latest track "I Wish I" is a real musical journey and well worth taking a look at if you want to keep exploring more bands!

Hanabie have a unique way of mixing elements of metalcore, hip hop and punk. If you like music that ignores gennre boundaries, check out "Scary Mask" or "Concrete" by Poppy, both songs appropriate for Halloween.

Oh hell yeah that was my reaction! haha :) Hanabie are the future. Super fun reaction. Looking through your vids.... OK so I think you should check out DOLL$BOXX - Take My Chance and Gacharic Spin - Mindset two faces of the same amazing band but DOLL$BOXX was a side project with the addition of the one of a kind Fuki on vocals. Gacharic Spin are another next level female band from Japan, impossible to pin in a genre though these tracks have similarities, one old and one new. Kind of an evolution. In my mind at least.

I have had 3 similar reactions in my life, the first was BabyMetal Karate, second was Band Maid Thrill and the third was this, speechless each time and a smile that will not go away! Never has music hit me in my 40+ years like these 3 moments. Japan has changed how I felt about music and I will be forever grateful

Hello and greetings from Germany! 🤘😎🤘🇩🇪❤️🇺🇲❤️🇯🇵
Great first reaction to Hanabie( pronounced Hah - nah - bee - eh)!
I looked somewhat the same as you when I first heard this song. Also I still can't believe it's just 2:38 minutes, since the song changes so much during that time, it easily feels like double the time.
Really enjoyed that one, if you want to see and hear more of them, I can highly recommend their songs "L. C. G." or "Reiwa Dating Apps Generation".
Only a little warning about the last one, since it includes a few sexual scenes, nothing too repulsive and you can't really see anything, but some people don't like that sort of thing in videos. It is also a little critique about people just using dating apps for hooking up and after they're done they search for the next one. And the music is really good and it's a little mixed with hip hop as well.
So feel free to give them another listen if you've got the time and have a nice day!
    🤘😎🤘

Once you start to listen to either Maximum the Hormone or any band that iterated on that style the transitions between well established genres becomes significantly less jarring. I am able to just listen and let the musicians take me where they want to go without trying to figure out where the song is going.

@@GlobalMusicMayhem I wasn't that surprised by Hanabie. Babymetal does the same thing. Where they mix cute and heavy. Hanabie is heavier and Babymetal is cuter. But it's the same idea. But I liked it a lot. Hanabie is my favorite band right now. I bought a Hanabie t-shirt they were kind of hard to find. It hasn't arrived yet. If they come to Seattle I'll definitely be there.
If you watch Babymetal's first music video they do the same thing as this. It starts with children's music then an explosion and the guitars drop.

Well more like the Maximum the Hormone style done by great musicians. I like their "clean" ( I hate that term ) vocals, so I can't be totally fair in evaluating them as I am not a growl/harsh vocal fan. That said they are new and on the rise starting in High School (no surprise in Japan) and doing covers of bands they as akin too in style (Maximum the Hormone, the most noticeable). They are still searching for their niche like Nemophila but the talent is there, now they have to do this LIVE (almost a mandatory requirement for all Japanese bands) to really hear their true sound and to show off their talents. The J/Metal rabbit-hole is endless with talent and it is all getting younger (or maybe I am just aging faster..LOL).
Speaking of High School, Asterism have been together since they were 11 and just graduated High School. Their great Dawn LIVE (th-cam.com/video/buQPvINJcA0/w-d-xo.html) was shot on a fan-cam but is excellent since it is a small club (due to their ages). Hal-Ca is 16 and the Rock Star Hendrix clone on that beat up old Yamaha/Pacific ax while Miyu is 17 on his custom made 7 string bass (ESP made it only for him at 17!!!). The string work by both of these masters is stunning. They write, arrange and play their own fusion of Metal/Hard Rock/Jazz in an instrumental sound that is amazing to experience. If you are "No Vocals...No Listen" then pass but these kids are easily one of the best trios playing today and the level of musicianship is truly stunning. All of my musician friends have been left speechless by these kids!!!

AMAI MY MIND!!! “Ha-Na-Bi-Eh” (はなびえ) are Yukina (Vo.), Matsuri (Gu., Vo.), Hettsu (Ba.), Sae (Dr.). They are the most exciting, innovative band going. Reiwa Matching Generation is a masterpiece! Then check out all their other videos, especially their metal cover of the pop song Odo (Dance), by Ado. Better yet, do a back-to-back comparison. Both versions are great.
And check out NEMOPHILA and BAND-MAID.
One might translate the title of this song, Amai Mono Ga Tabetai, as (I/we) WANT TO EAT SWEET THINGS, emphasizing the DESIRE/CRAVING expressed therein. Especially when Yukina sings, “tabetai, tabetai, moto tabetai!” (I want to eat, want to eat, want to eat MORE!”

You know what I love about J-Rock and J-Metal....First, the talent...omg, like it was spilling over and they just couldn't contain it any longer...lol Second....the variety of it all...none of these bands sounds the same! And they are all off the charts...smh...wow. To be honest a channel I sub to did a video where he recommended Hanabie and he described their music, so I was forewarned...I was still plesantly surprised, because i have a soft spot for hardcore ...lol This particular track reminded me of that...insta-fan! I don't know, these girls might be the coolest thing in Japan right now imho... and that is saying alot considering what they are up against...damn! @@GlobalMusicMayhem Haruna the drummer came to like metal when she met Helloween. Apparently, she had been requesting Asami to sing this favorite song from time to time since shortly after LOVEBITES were formed. And the band members decided to officially play the cover of the song as a present for Haruna. Perhaps it is the only cover performance of Love Bites. So when she counts to start playing, she shows a very happy smile. Btw, they met the Halloween members in 2018. Haruna is a big fan of Halloween, so when she released the cover of this song, she uploaded this event on Twitter :)
